Links broken now, but apparently at the VW Fun Cup meeting at Brands Hatch today a spectator managed to get his road car onto the track and in the race... they eventually noticed and red flagged the race...
Need to find out more on this.

Lots of people around the internet are calling it a promo stunt by VW.... I'm not so sure, but 1) where are all the marshals? and 2) Interesting that the commentator clearly mentions it's VW (Even though he gets it wrong!)

Would be a bit crap if they did it in a real race though.... If it was a genuine race then it must be real.

Yup, plus the Fun Cup is not a VW championship - its a silhouette series...annnnnd I'm pretty sure VW don't want to be involved with such negative publicity.

Also I think I'll just quote someone from the autosport forums on this:

For those posters thinking this was a publicity stunt: I assume you didn't watch any of the video, because two moronic hoodlums sadistically laughing at the terrified pleas of a woman who is essentially being kidnapped is not the kind of image companies like VW usually try to associate with their brand.

And it was a genuine race because a fair few of the Fun Cup drivers have been pretty 🤬 off that they had their race red flagged by some complete 🤬.

Idiots like this are going to force paddocks to be completely closed to the public, events like the Fun Cup are great as they are small and have open paddocks letting you see the cars up close and being worked on. But idiots like this mean the circuits will have to take measures to avoid it happening again.

Wow, I was watching that one live and I never realized how hard that hit was. Good thing that safer barrier was there.

He got slightly injured in this crash and had to miss a couple of races (as far as I know)

and his first race after his Sachsenring crash

Kimi Raikkonen, Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert and Anthony Davidson racing turbo lawnmowers.
