I think the article implied that it was shut down for the paint being wet not the actual design

Meh? I think it was shut down for both reasons? I don't think people would enjoy it much to be driving on the Nurburgring only to come across a huge willy slap bang in the middle of the road.

NEW IN THE FORUMS!! JUMP TO 0:04:50 AND 1:18:25 FOR THE CRASHES

This was a rough week in Memphis, in the 2000 NHRA AutoZone Nationals, when Tony Schumacher (In Qualifying) & Larry Dixon (In the Final) had two terribles crashes.

From the NHRA 4 Wide Nationals held on Saturday. Luckily, only two people received some minor scrapes.

60 cars through turn 1 at Monza with only minor bumps?

This is a OMG WTF moment! skip toaround 5.20 to see it

Only video I can find:

In that case, I think we can rest assured that the Chevy driver (is it Ménu?) definitely yelled something or another from the thread title.

Motorsport WTF moment of the year.

Wrong thread, the Motorsport WTF moment of the year will be mine, and it will find its way into the karting thread. Rest assured... :scared:

Absolutely shocking crash and video here. The driver's only been injured, survived as far as I can tell. Not many reports on it yet, besides French ones.

About as close as you can get:

Driver's name is Simon Harratt, a British owner and driver, the car is a March 71B 1600 according to the source here:

Beautiful ride, it was a Formula Atlantic car. Haven't seen many collectors going for historic Junior Formula machinery before myself.

Here's some background on the chassis; different owner:

What a shocking wreck, I hope he's alright. This happened just yesterday in France, a race called (sic) Côte automobile d'Abreschviller. No reports coming in yet outside of French editorials.

He should be ok, just broken, beaten, scared etc, the good thing is he didn't wack his head on the way through anything from what I can tell,

I am surprised he survived that crash in a car like that.

The announcer @ 1:45 into the video .....
"some real kindergarten moves in these last few laps".

Well, he his telling the truth.

Adrenaline rush .... getting the best of these guys, uuuuum yeah.

Even Maldonado isn't that bad. And these people expect to be given the chance to advance to F1?

Well, the sport is looking to introduce a penalty points system - every driving infraction carries with it a pre-determined points value. When a driver reaches twelve penalty points in the course of a season, he gets banned for a race. So if Jonny Cecotto wants to make it into Formula 1, he's going to have to sharpen up a little bit because foolish moves like that will get him banned.

So if Jonny Cecotto wants to make it into Formula 1...

Not driving for Theodore and Toleman surely would help... Though I could see him have a relatively good career in tin-tops afterwards.

Oh wait, Cecotto Jr.

WOW! That's a big hard lick! He was ok I take it, otherwise the video would not be allowed on GTP.

Huge hit, but circumstances seem odd. Several of the cars before the crash seemed to be cruising as if the race was over and there was applause from the crowd and marshalls (including the chap who got hit). Then a couple of cars came through at race speed

Yeah, I said he made it in the post, and linked to confirmation.

I believe the race was over.

That's what I was thinking, then a Ferrari shaped missile hit the wall. Would love to know what was going on because even if they raced to the line, that is a good few hundred metres back, so there is no reason to be still doing ~200km/h at pit exit.

@Wardez, ah I see now, thanks,

I guess he must have lifted and the other car didn't, odd ending to a race,
