You got it. A lot of people automatically think of the Nurburgring, but it's Pescara.

I think the Isle of Man is the longest circuit still in use for any form of racing. Someplace I would really like to visit one day. The guys who do that must have huge gonads.

I was reading a bit on the Long Madonie... it's funny, about 80% of the track was done between 2nd and 3rd gears... Anyway, here's my question, which I ask out of complete ignorance, although now that I've asked it, I guess I'll search it a bit.

When was the last time in Formula One that Ferrari hired an unexperienced driver (unexperienced in F1)?

I want to say Ivan Capelli, who they signed for the 1992 season, but he had prior experience with Leyton House. (Didn't he come second to Prost's Ferrari at Paul Ricard in 1990?) I don't remember anything about Capelli before Leyton House or after Ferrari, other than he became a TV commentator for Italian television.

Poor guy never had a chance. An Italian in a Ferrari, and in one of the worst Ferraris ever.

Mulsanne
Ivan Capelli

Capelli drove in March from 1987-1991, AGS in 1986 and Tyrrell in 1985 before joining Ferrari.

Gilles Villeneuve.

I believe before signing up for Ferrari, Gilles made his GP debut behind the wheel of a McLaren, at the Silverstone GP, where he qualified ninth, and set the fifth fastest lap. A Month later he was hired by Ferrari. SOURCE

Oh yeah, then it's Jonathon Williams.

Sorry no... Jonathan Williams was hired in 1967, and only raced once, at the Mexican GP. After him, some other drivers got their first taste at F1 behind a Ferrari. Remember the question asks for the LAST time.

Furthermore, after J. Williams, 1968 saw inexperienced Andrea de Adamich in the South African GP and Derek Bell (also inexperienced) going for two races.

The question's still open, by the by.

Hint: Let's see. He debuted in the British GP. Went on racing until 1979, his last team being created by himself.

Oops, scrap that. It was Arturo Mezario, The Marlboro Man.

Hooray! Arturo Merzario! Hired in 1972, for a total of 11 races. Went on to race for Williams, Fittipaldi, March, Wolf, Merzario and Shadow. Your go.

Which country has held Grand Prix at the largest amount of different tracks?

A quick guess would be the USA.

Watkins Glen, Detroit, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Indianapolis, Long Beach... (and any others I've missed)

I think the UK has only had 4. Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Donington & Aintree.

Most other countries have had a couple of different tracks used.

The USA is correct. The others are Dallas, Riverside (1 race in 1960) and Sebring (1 race in 1959).

What do Alain Prost, Michele Alboreto, Nigel Mansell, Gerhard Berger, Gilles Villeneuve and Ayrton Senna have in common?

I'm looking for a specific answer. It's do do with a detail on some of the F1 cars they've driven...

They have, but that's not the answer I'm looking for.

It's not a sponsor's detail. The FIA put this on the car.

just a shot in the dark.... they were the first drivers to wear the HANS protection systems? (not sure if HANS is typed properly)

Nope.

It's not just those drivers. There are others, but no driver has it currently....

still searching... by the way, wtf is up with that new 'tar?

still searching...
It is a bit obscure. I'll give the answer in the morning if no-one gets it.

It's not a new one. It's an old one rediscovered...

nicked from here

Clue.
