Berger was usually 28, but I saw this photo and assumed he must have had 27 at some point.

I didn't realise that's not Berger in the car. (I thought he was just using a different helmet style for some reason)

Theoretically, yes... unless he just admits he's a mindless twit (j/k) for confusing Berger and awards the quasi-answer to someone else.

As if I'm going to admit that....

I'll let amp88 go next.

Ta, but someone else can go...

I've not really been following the thread, so no doubt I'd ask something which had already been asked. Plus I can't really think of any decent questions at the moment anyway, sorry.

I love the "originally posted by Abraham Lincoln"... he he

Anyway, I'll go then. Which was the first fatality, that occured at a World-Championship-GP ? What happened, who was involved, where and when did it happen ?

^^OOOOO, evil number..... :trouble:

Onofre Marimon was the first driver to be killed at an F1 World Championship event at the Nuerburgring in 1954 after losing control at Adenau Bridge and flew into the valley below.

I didn't realize the evil number until this morning...

Wrong year, wrong driver and wrong race. But pretty damn close.

You know, when I first asked the question I was looking for the first fatality whether it be a driver or a spectator. But as I'm reading my question, it looks as if I'm looking for the first driver fatality. Anyhow, I looked up the first fatality by either and of course that's the answer I was looking for initially, but if you can come up with the right answer for the first driver fatality, I'll give it to you.

Also, since so many people died in the first GPs from 1910 or so until the 50s, let's concentrate on post-1950s.

Which one is it going to be? Spectator or Driver?

January 18, 1953. Argentine GP. President Peron allowed free access to spectators, but too many got in and, unfortunately, Giuseppe Farina got involved in an accident trying to avoid a spectator and crashed into the crowd. At least one spectator was killed, up to 15 as some reported.

There ya go! There were so many spectators, near the track, the drivers could not see what's going on in corners. Giuseppe Farina spun into the crowds, trying to avoid a boy on the track. Some reports say the boy was killed, some say he wasn't even hit.

Incidentally, the first driver fatality was Cale Yarborough that same year. At the Indianapolis 500 (back then it was part of the F1 calendar). Many drivers had to be relieved due to the heat and the fumes from the nitromethane fuel. However Cale Yarborough collapsed on getting out of his car and was taken to hospital where he subsequently died.

So, on with the next one!

Nob Taniguchi is the correct answer. He also drives the WedSports Celica in the Super GT Championship, which is also in GT4, albeit the 2003 version.

Ta for the info, amp88 and Yuichi!

My question, which I hope hasn't been asked before:

What's the fastest speed ever a Formula One car has achieved during a race weekend - how fast, who and where?

let's see... I'm going to go with Mika Salo, on a Toyota, 363 kph... don't know the race, though... Canada '01?

I'd take a guess at the track being Monza and the speed being in the region of 230mph (370kph).

Right track, right speed (369.9kph was the figure). Can you tell me who the driver was though?

Could be Montoya (I dunno if he still has the fastest average speed for an F1 lap or not, but he had it here a while ago)?

edit: Just Googled it and found out it was Pizzonia. Oh, well, I was close :)

Yep, it was Pizzonia at Monza last year, driving a Williams.

Your go, amp88.

Ok...at least one F1 driver has got all of his F1 pole positions at the same track. Name one such driver and give the track and the number of poles.

N.B. The driver must have had more than one pole position in his career.

am I having a non-English day or is the question a lot broader than I thought... you're asking for all race winners in the F1 world driver's championship? of all years?

I think he's looking for how many different race winners there have been since 1950.
