ummmm... which track is this?

Extra credit for where it got its name

EDIT: I found better images of the track, but they mentioned the curve's names, and that would've made it too easy.

The 1976 Grand Prix of great britain.

The 2 women drivers were Lella Lombardi and Divina Galica

Yep, you did get it right. They both failed to qualify.

Brands Hatch, in Kent, England. It got its name from a nearby farm that owned the land when the idea for a circuit was first thought of, back in 1926 by some motorbike racers. It was used as a dirt track until the Second World War, and tarmaced in 1950.

What's the longest period of time that Formula 1 has gone without a driver fatality? I'm looking for years, months and days.

I won't have access to a computer from tomorrow morning until Monday (going to the Goodwood Revival Meeting), so get your answer in quick. If no-one's got it, I'll post the answer tomorrow.

I'd guess it was from Senna's death to now. He died on the 1st of May 1994, so that's 11 years, 4 months and 13 days, as of now...

whoa.. took me a few minutes to realise that april 30th is 1 day before may 1st. hehe.

Which means my conclusion is
11 years. 51 weeks. Exactly.

11 years, 11 months, 3 wees, 1 day.

If thats how he wants the answer... i belive both are the same.

(8 May 1982 to 30 april 1994)

hey, what ever happened to receiving confirmation if your answer is right or wrong? :grumpy: Brands Hatch is NOT named because of the farm that was near by. :dunce:

About the question of the longest period without deaths in f1, the answer is:

7 Years 11 Months 15 Days (between 15 May, 1986 (Elio de Angelis) to 30 April, 1994 (Roland Ratzenberger)).

:banghead:

Ok, that's the last time I base my questions on what ChicaneF1.com says. :grumpy:

I suspect it would help if I'd specified Grand Prix weekends. :dunce:

The answer I had, from the link above, was 11 years, 10 months and 17 days between Riccardo Paletti's accident at 1982 Canadian GP (13th June 1982) and Roland Ratzenberger in San Marino (30th April 1994).

This is what Google gave me.

Roo

As most schoolmasters will tell you, don't use only one source to support your answers!

The name derives from 'de Brondehach', a Gaelic term: 'Bron' meaning wooded slope; 'hach', literally entrance to the forest. Incidentally, that was the name of the farm where they built it, so your answer is 25% right.

I'm guessing whoever got Roo's answer right, and since he's not here to confirm it (isn't he at some Godwood thing?), should go next.

As to questions being open, I think none. So if no one got the last one, and since the thread's been inactive for about three days, you can have a go if you want to... unless someone else has a different opinion.

Well, I think Nick_Johnston28 got it right, but he's not been online in a couple of days, so if nobody minds, I'll have a shot at asking one (if the person who asked the question or Nick objects to this, then feel free to shout at me ;) )

Ok...so here's my question...

At least one car has finished 1st and 2nd in every round of a World Championship. Name one such car, the World Championship in question and the year this occured.

I've got one answer here, but if anyone can provide at least one source that it happened elsewhere then that's obviously acceptable too :)

by World Championship you mean the F1 World Championship?

If so, my answer is Ayrton Senna, in 1988. The car would be the McLaren MP4-4

No, it doesn't have to be in F1. In 1988 McLaren 'only' won 15 of the 16 races in the championship

To clarify the question...it is a World Championship but not necessarily in F1. A particular team must have entered two cars in the championship and those two cars must have finished in 1st and 2nd place in every round of the championship.

Here's one: the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R won every race in the 2004 season (in its category)

From Google: The McLaren Team won every race in the Can-Am, series in 1969... although I don't have the car name at hand.

And some souped-up ricer won all the NHRA Drag Races in his category in 2001, the car is called Titan Motorsports Supra (949hp)... the driver's name is Ari Yallon.

I had the Porsche 935 in the 1977 World Championship of Makes, but your answer seems good too, Diego 👍

Fire away...

Alright, so a kind of obscure question, but it shouldn't prove very difficult.

Two men, both the same first name, both lived and raced the same time. One of them built a car factory, the other gave some series of races his name. What was his first name, and what was the factory and races series name?

Edit: Alright, so let's drop some hint... they're both Italian. I'll probably give another one ton ight if no one's got it.

Oh screw it... Vincenzo Lancia and Vincenzo Florio... Lancia and the Targa Florio

Whoever wants to do the next one, go ahead

alrite.. who was the ignagural winner of the Stars of karting JICA Class in 2004?

ummm....you? I was reading about you the other day in WKA's Karting Scene mag. and I kept reading you name and I knew I've heard it before but I didn't know where. and I looked back in some old WRS warm-up's and realized where I heard you. on here. hah.

rock.

In the absence of an answer, here we go...

Who won the Rolex Man of the Meeting at the Goodwood Revival this year?
