Since I got a right answer soon after, I guess I can grab a question now :)

Once there was a CART race, where a rookie took pole position. It was rather impressive considering he had previously never qualified higher than 20th in the series. However, what was even more impressive was that the same race was won by yet another rookie, despite having qualified 3rd-to-last. The driver took the first CART points in his career with that win.

Which race and which drivers?

Wrong as Blundell's rookie season came earlier and Montoya's later. This question kind of requires either hard knowledge or hard searching :)

Blundell's rookie season was 1996. Montoya's was 1999.
So the year in question would have to be 1997 or 1998.

Yet I can find no record which fits the requirements of rookies taking a win and a pole in the same race during those years.

Puzzled,
Steve

Not necessarily. He could just mean that Blundell's rookie year was earlier than JPM's.

Scott Dixon won at Nazareth Speedway, 2001,
Bruno Junquiera was on pole.
Both were rookies.

Grand!

If there had been many wrong answers, I would have added the hint that a driver who had searched for his first win of his career for some time already was just beaten to it by Dixon (that guy would be Bräck, who won the next two rounds, so he didn't have to wait that long in the end).

One-of-a-kind:

Usually the Drivers and Manufacturers Championship are won by the same driver/car combination. But not always. Can you name the year when the winner of the World Championship did not drive the first, second or even the third place finisher in the Constructor's Championship?

Pitching you a softball,
Steve

Anybody between 1950-1957 because the Constructor's Championship wasn't established.

Which means Farina, Fangio and Ascari.

Please, let me be very clear that my question applies to the modern era of F1 where there were both Drivers and Constructors Championships to be won.

Respectfully,
Steve

Fair enough, thought it could have been a trick question because it didn't explicitly state since the formation of the Constructor's Championship in 1958. Worth a shot.

So I'm guessing the above answer of Rosberg is correct. ...Indeed it is.

Who am I:

I am the only person to race for my country in Formula 1. I scored 8 points total over 6 years, and then went on to become an Olympic Sailor.

It's difficult finding something that a quick internet search won't direct you at straight away, but I still don't think I've managed it here... Have more clues should they be needed though.

B.Bira was the only Thai. Can't think of any other 'one driver per nationality' who scored points like that. Baumgartner didn't get many.

Unsure on the sailing though.

I am Prince Bira, Birabongse Bhanudej, who competed at the Melbourne Olympics, 1956.

Correct! Although Dotini was more confident, you got the identity first (by 2 minutes).

Was this too simple?

Maria Teresa de Filippis
Lella Lombardi
Divina Galica
Desiré Wilson
Giovanna Amati

Fixed. I asked for starts, but you still have the two answers.

I did say it was easy.

Go, Dotini, go!

Everyone knows Vitaly Petroff is a Russian. Name the other F1 driver born on Russian soil.

I've introduced a question which cannot be resolved by the very simplest means. If nobody finds the answer within 24 hours, I will reveal the answer.

Respectfully submitted,
Steve

There was a Russian/Soviet who drove in a GP race, but it was pre-1950 so I'm not sure if it counts.

Nor do I know his name.

Russian, or Soviet soil?

Russian soil.

I thought Petrov was the only one

It's a difficult question. Petrov is indeed the only listed driver of Russian nationality when you consult wikipedia on F1 driver nationality.

But in the case where the driver's nationality is disputed, or if his nationality has changed, you can appreciate that where a driver is born can be a little different question.

If it makes you feel better, only a true, dyed-in-the-wool GP nutter is going to know this one. By this time tomorrow, you will be a nutter if you aren't now.

Respectfully,
Steve

If I were going to include pre-1950 drivers, I would have used the term Grand Prix drivers, and not F1 drivers.
