Most poles not converted to a win in a season?

Sir Stirling Moss, widely regarded as one of the all time greats has never won a F1 world championship. He has been close. Just how close has he been?

Answer I'm looking for how many times he came 2nd and 3rd in the championship. Who beat him would be bonus points.

I'll try this without checking Wikipedia, I'm guessing 4.

He would have finished third twice against Jack Brabham. Unsure about 1961 and Phil Hill because I think that was the year he had his career-ending crash at Goodwood.

So let's plump for 2 third places.

It is actually 3 times. He finished behind Phil Hill :)

DK should take the turn because he got it right. Had to give out the answer because you were so close, Liquid.

Brawn GP are the latest constructor to have won their debut World Championship race. Name the rest of the constructors to have done so.

Alfa Romeo (technically, 1950 British GP)
Kurtis Kraft (technically, 1950 Indy 500)
Mercedes (1954 French GP)
Wolf (1977 Argentine GP)
Brawn GP (2009 Australian GP)

I knew Alfa, Wolf and Brawn. I knew whichever constructor won the 1950 Indy 500 was an answer, but wasn't sure if it was KK or Offy. Mercedes I didn't know until I looked it up.

Alfa Romeo and quite possibly Mercedes-Benz. I doubt anyone has done it since the 1950s but maybe Matra or Tyrrell.

You're missing one.

AJ Watson won the Indy 500 many times as a chief mechanic and builder. His first win as a builder took place in 1956 with the Watson-Offenhauser.

The "revolutionary" George Salih-built Epperly with its laid over Offenhauser won in 1957.

Kuzma won their second race (1952 Indy 500)
Epperly won their second race (1957 Indy 500)
March won their second race (1970 Spanish GP)

Whichever constructor you are thinking of, I will have the reply to it.

Cooper won their first race as an F1 car in 1958. All previous appearances were as an F2.
