I knew there was something of the sort.. whoa, literary sources! At last, a bit of paper in an otherwise paper-less world!

I know, what a sad git I am; it is well worth a read however, some truely stange races in it.

alrighty then... let's see. Since the last question related to the least numbers of starters, ecluding Indianapolis, which World Championship F1 race had the most starters?

The 1953 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring had 34 starters and 2 non-starters. Pole went to Ascari with a 9:59.8 lap, the win to Farina after all 18 laps were completed, both driving Ferraris.

er... just naming the GP and the number of starters would've been enough, he he. That's it. Runner up was the 1061 Italian Gp, with 32 starters. Your go

Sticking with the "most starters" theme, which F1 race (not including the Indy 500) had the most teams starting?

1989 Australia? just a shot in the dark, since I found it's the race with the most number of entries (39)

Eighteen teams started the Canadian GP in 1989. With two starters each we had Williams, Dallara, McLaren, Arrows, Tyrrell, March, Minardi and Ferrari. With one entry each we had Lotus, Ligier, Rial, Coloni, Osella, Lola, Onyx, AGS, Brabham and Benetton making a total of 26 starters. Eight of those finished, fifteen retired and three were disqualified.

Andrew Cowan won it in '68... driving a... a car

(after googling it)

a Hillman Hunter

That's correct mate. The Citroen DS21 of Lucien Bianchi had the race won when near Nowra, less than 200 kilometers from the finish his co-driver collided with a Mini driven by two drunk police officers on a closed road. The race ran through England, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, West Pakistan and India, before cars were transported from Bombay to Fremantle for the crossing of Australia.

What kind of country do you live in where the police drive Minis? Pursuits must be inexistent... anyway, here's my question:

When, where and who was the first international victory for a MG car?

They have V8 Commodores and Falcons now. They did use the Cooper S for a while but there was nothing saying if it was a Police car or if one of the officers owned it.
MGs first outright win was in 1927 with a 14/40 in a 100km race at San Martin, Argentina. Having some difficulty finding the name of the driver however. Am I on the right track?

on the right track you are...

Date: 1927... Right, actually, 27 october
Car: 14/40 Tourer.... right
Race: 100 KM San Martin... I actually have it as the San Martin 1 Hour (kind cheap on the time given, eh?)

Perhaps that gives you more. Keep it up!

Oh well, 24 hours and nothing, so here it goes:

The driver was Alberto Sanchiz Cires.

Schrodes should ask the next one since he was the (only) one to answer part of it.

I failed, couldn't find his name anywhere.

What position did Robby Gordon finish in his class in the Baja 1000 last year?

nice...

I ask this question out of sheer ignorance, I don't know the answer, but it's a good trivia question: Why is the checkered flag checkered?

I did a bit of searching myself as well... didn't come up with a better answer, though. Your go.
