Who was the first driver to come from 33rd on the grid (last) in the Indy 500 to finish second?
 
Scott Goodyear in '92? He was one of the most famous racers to start dead-last and finish second at Indy, anyway...
 
I'm going to revive this thread, because I've just found something that I think is mind-blowing: what is the direct connection between Harry Potter and Formula 1?
 
+1 for the humour, but not quite right. It's a direct connection between a former Formula 1 personality and a character within the books. You might even say that the character and the person are one and the same ...

Is this to do with Jos Verstappen coming out and saying that he who must not be named (MS) used the dark arts (driver aids) to defeat good 'ol Harry Potter (Damon Hill)?

Zsolt Baumgartner = Voldemort? The wizarding world calls Voldemort He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, the F1 Rejects forum calls Zsolt He-Whose-Name-Shall-Not-Be-Mentioned.

They are represented in the books by three cousins: Bellatrix, Narcissa and Andromeda Black. Bellatrix and Narcissa joined Voldemort's cause. Andromeda became a member of the Order of the Phoenix, fighting him. The one we are focusing on is Narcissa Black, who represents Diana Mitford. In the world of the books, Narcissa Black married Lucius Malfoy, and produced a son, Draco. In the same way, Diana Mitford married Oswald Mosley, and produced a son of her own - Max. Since the Malfoy parents are directly based on Oswald and Diana, this means that Draco Malfoy and Max Mosley are one and the same.

Okay, new (and easier) question: Only one Formula 1 driver has competed under racing licences issued by two different countries. Who was he, and which licenes did he use?

Sorry guys, but no dice. Nico Rosberg has always competed in Formula 1 under a German licence. Likewise, Andretti only used the one. I'm thinking of someone who had two separate licences issued by two different countries - kind of like the way Julian Leal started this year's GP2 season with an Italian licence, but finished with a Colombian one.
 
I didn't get the Harry Potter one, seems like someone has been thinking too much. Max Mosley, who is he by the way? Former F1 CEO? I'm too young for this stuff.

I'm going to guess Grosjean too, he is the only driver I know with dual nationality.

No, it's actually true. JK Rowling has admitted that Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy are based on Diana and Oswald Mosley. Given the parallels, Draco Malfoy and Max Mosley are the same person.

He was President of the FIA, and he was very unpopular. He has only recently been replaced by Jean Todt.

No. Romain Grosjean might have dual nationality, but he has only competed in Formula 1 under a French racing licence. I am thinking of a driver who started at least one race with licences issued by different countries. In order for Grojean to qualify, he would have to start one race with a French licence, and one race with a Swiss licence - which he has not done.
 
If you're counting the Indy 500 (from when it was part of the world championship), I'm sure I read about an italian guy who eventually claimed American Citizenship and raced under an American licence.

If you're talking strictly about the world of F1 and excluding the indy 500, I have no idea.
 
Alfonso Thiele, entered a whole 2 races, the 1960 Italian grand prix with a U.S. flag and the 1961 Italian GP under the Italian flag(although he withdrew before the race so not sure if it counts).
