Correct!

I would have also accepted Alejandro de Tomaso, who held Italian and Argentine racing licences, but he never actually used his Italian licence.

But it's related to motorsports. Which is enough.

Anyway, next question: who was Asdrúbal Fontes Bayardo, and why is he notable?

Okay, nobody is going to get it.

One of JK Rowling's heroes is Jessica Mitford - but Rowling thinks considerably less of her sisters, Diana and Unity Mitford. Diana and Unity were Nazi sympathisers; Jessica was not. They are represented in the books by three cousins: Bellatrix, Narcissa and Andromeda Black. Bellatrix and Narcissa joined Voldemort's cause. Andromeda became a member of the Order of the Phoenix, fighting him. The one we are focusing on is Narcissa Black, who represents Diana Mitford. In the world of the books, Narcissa Black married Lucius Malfoy, and produced a son, Draco. In the same way, Diana Mitford married Oswald Mosley, and produced a son of her own - Max. Since the Malfoy parents are directly based on Oswald and Diana, this means that Draco Malfoy and Max Mosley are one and the same.

I almost posted Max Mosley too! I was aware of Rowling's fondness of one of the Mitford sisters and her obvious connection to Mosley - but that's a tenuous link and i wasn't aware of all the back story :irked:

Well, I don't think Rowling consciously chose to have Draco and Mosley be one and the same. It simply played out that way because she drew on the Mosley parents as inspiration for the Malfoys.

I have no idea but were you shopping in Toronto when you posted that question, F1 Fan? :D

Don't know if an answer to the previous question is required to move on but considering a few days went by I decided to place here a question, just for the fun of it.

Who are these guys and why does a question that includes them all make any sense?

What connects Shopping in Toronto to F1?

Just a guess.. It wouldn't happen to be the new track no? I may have the wrong state..:/

I wish I was in Toronto again.

Umm... Toronto's in Ontario, Canada.

Ok, I can't really give a hint, other than since posting that, I've found out the connection can spread to several cities in Canada. If someone wants, I can just give the answer though.

There's a company called F1 Toronto, is that it?

http://www.hotfrog.ca/Companies/F1-Toronto

Nope. Any more guesses? If not, I'll post the answer.

Edit:

Who are these guys and why does a question that includes them all make any sense?

#2 = Harald Ertl (legendary facial hair)
#3 = Brett Lunger?
#4 = Guy Edwards

Don't know who number one is. I recognize his face and I'm kicking myself. Either way, Ertl, Lunger and Edwards all drove for Hesketh, so either Hesketh is the connection, or they were all Ertl's team mate at some point.

Will post an answer to my question if no one has guessed it correctly tomorrow.

All correct, but some dots still need connecting. Lord Hesketh isn't the common link of these four guys, their own nobility is ... :)

The key word being nobility. #1 is Arturo Merzario. Merzario, Ertl, Lunger and Edwards were the drivers who helped save Lauda's life.
Had I recognized Arturo, I think I would have gotten this in an instant. Either way, well played sir.

Seeing as how it's been several days now and no one has really come close to answering my question, I'll tell the answer.

George Eaton connects shopping in Toronto to F1. George was an F1 driver for BRM with 11 starts out of 13 races from 1969 to 1971. He scored no points. He is from the Eaton family who used to run and operate Canadian retail giants Eatons. He also spent ten years as the president of Eatons but could not save the company.

Several of their department stores were turned into shopping malls. The most famous of which is the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Someone else take a shot.

And I thought my question about the connection between Formula 1 and Harry Potter was obscure ...

Since you're offering someone else the chance to pose a question, here's one: what is Vitaly Petrov's middle name?

And I thought my question about the connection between Formula 1 and Harry Potter was obscure ...

Not really obscure. Ex formula one driver who came from a wealthy family and ran a famous company. The clue was "shopping in Toronto". Being that the Eaton centre is in the heart of downtown Toronto and is famous, I wouldn't really say it was that obscure. I didn't know about George Eaton when I actually lived and worked 5 minutes away from the Eaton centre, I found out about him when I saw a Canadian F1 driver with the surname Eaton. Curiosity got the better of me.

Since you're offering someone else the chance to pose a question, here's one: what is Vitaly Petrov's middle name?

Alexandrovich?

Trick question indeed. Vitaly Petrov does not have a middle name. He - as most Russians do - has a patronym, Alexandrovich, which means he is Alexandr's son.

I'll do another! 👍

There's one very obvious connection between these two pics. I won't even insult you guys by asking it. :D

But there's a second connection, less obvious but similar in nature to the first one. What is it?

One. Senna

Two. Debut races?

Nope, I don't even know where were these pictures taken. In any case, remember that Bruno Senna debuted in F1 with HRT.

Were both the first drivers confirmed to drive for a new team?

EDIT: Toleman has merged through the years to become Renault (Toleman - Benetton - Renauult)
