I'm new to the GT Series and was hoping to get some feedback on online etiquette when hosting a room. The first time I hosted I didn't know that most players like to get a few warm up laps in before the start of the race and started one to early.

If you would please post some advice for online multiplayer courtesy and things you should or should not do, to help out the newer players. Thanks. :)

I'm not much for practice laps, I like to get the race going right away. More often than not when everyone has selected there car and entered race or track I will go ahead and start the race. Of course if I am using qualifying then there will be a time set aside for the players to try and qualify before the race starts and if I am doing a tuning lobby then the race may not ever start but I generally do those as private.

you mark the word and click this button:

@GTP_CargoRatt you could also do [url = * your link here * ] what you want it to say like, here, this etc. [/url*]

Just take out the asterisks and spaces inside of the braces 👍

Not, just etiquette, but making your lobby fun so people don't leave

-Putting on a race start timer of 7min or so
-without going overboard, anything you can do to decrease the non racing time is generally good[more laps, not changing the track after each race, keeping the same PP]
-speaking of PP, use it and don't make it complicated by putting additional weight, BHP, drivetrain restrictions
-put on newb friendly assists like drive line and ASM and put grip reduction to low. Skid recovery was hated in GT5 but I've seen much fewer complaints about it in GT6 so maybe turn it on.
-Penalties definitely On. And I even recommend set to Strong for multiple reasons.
-one make races are often not liked because people want to try race their own machines
-boost blows. Once people realize it's on, they will usually leave.
-if you ask people what they want[in terms of track, PP] make sure it's not just one loud mouth making suggestions

People like your lobby because they like your lobby so if you begin to change things, they may leave.

Once your room is full you can add in the other restrictions and change PP more. But don't go overboard when you've been racing road cars for the last hour to suddenly racing karts. That's how bad DJ's clear the dance floor very fast.

I would say disable SRF in all races. Allowing TCS, ASM, ABS, DL is fine, Assisted steering ? maybe, the problem with SRF is that if it is available people will use it and some of the better drivers are even faster with it enabled which forces others to either use it or move on. I would move on as I do not like it and will not use it in a race.

Boost, depends on the type of racing you want. It can help to make those slower drivers a bit quicker I suppose but I generally turn off. Draft set to real, grip set to real

i once heard from a guy (that befriended me afterwards) who apparently races alot online "best lobby I've ever been into. Thanks host".
It was a shuffle race lobby.
Thanks PD..

SS or less tyres make games much more balanced IMO, just go to any lobby hosting nordschleife with RS you'll notice it will nearly always be dominated by FWD cars as they pretty much never lose control, have perfect oversteer and you can full throttle / lift off like you're cheating, plus it's boring as hell racing lap after lap with no feel from the car whatsoever just 100% sticky grip.

Turn off SRF and boost, they ruin any game. Apart from faster lap time I don't see why anyone would _prefer_ to race with SRF on for pleasure, slipstream and grip set to real.

Penalty on full is hit and miss as sometimes you get unwanted penalty for someone else hitting you for example, but I still prefer it on full to stop corner cutting and blatant rammers, it's better on than off IMO.

Try to mix up your cars a bit- if you're absolutely dominating in your elise / civic / whatever people will probably get bored of you, at least show you can drive something else. Personally I own some fast cars that own at certain PP levels but that limits the total amount of cars in the game to only a handful as not all cars are going to be the quickest, it's like back in the Forza days where only a couple of cars in each class blew everyone else away because they were so light and had so much grippy oversteer no other cars stood a single chance. I would rather race for fun / a challenge than to always use the best car, and if you do well in an odd car people can be surprised.

Also try setting laps to something decent, so many people host a lobby, practice for like 20 minutes, and end up doing 3 laps on trial mountain, I would much rather do something like 8 not only because I find driving fun but it takes more consistency.

I can barely find any good lobbies on GT6. What's going on and am I doing anything wrong?

I'd personally establish to the other players the expectations for clean racing and tell them if they go overboard they'll be kicked. There's always that one guy whose strategy is to ram and run.

Start a race every 10 minutes. It allows players to get track time before a race and also time to qualify for the grid.

hard question. every one has there own idea off enjoyment from the game . i suggest do what you enjoy and you should find like minded poeple

Depends, there will always be terrible people who want to ram you off, try to veer away from things like JDM vs..... or 550pp, or beat my car, etc.
Sometimes go to tracks that aren't used that often or look for the "clean racers only"description.

Did it once. I felt a horrible sense of dirt in some rooms with "clean racers only" on it...

My general rules of thumb for hosting along with finding rooms to race in are this:

1. Street cars on street tires, preferably SH or lower, usually offers the cleanest racing, although "cleanest" is a sliding scale, it's a relative thing. You'll find jerks in all kinds of rooms, just less in these. These rooms tend to attract a better, more courteous driver, and so when I host, these are the rooms I create.

2. Lower PP usually = better, cleaner racing. Most GT pilots are not skilled enough to drive cleanly with 500+ hp cars on any tire, racing or street. The faster the cars, the worse the racing usually.

3. Look for clear definitions in the room title and make clear descriptions when you create a room. The more specific the definition, the better the room. If it just says, "Racing", it generally won't be as well organized as "500PP SH, Clean". Avoid any and all rooms with any kind of stupidity or profanity in the room description when searching for a room, and if you use stupidity or profanity in the description you aren't very bright if you think it'll attract clean drivers.

4. Send FR's to good hosts, and good drivers. When you are about to open a room, go through your friends list and see who is online on GT and send them an invite message saying you are opening a room. If you get a good reputation, you'll get repeat business.

5. SRF off, when you create a room and when you search for one. Yes there are some good rooms with it on, but it's generally not used by more serious pilots, and tends to attract noobs and kids, who even if well intentioned, don't have the car control for good close, clean racing much of the time.
