Look it up. In GT4 there are plenty of them, begining with the '64 GTO, all the way up to the GTO of '04, or '05, whatever it is in the game. The Chevelle, 'cuda, Super Bee, Charger etc.. are all muscle cars.

Reason i'm asking is because the Monaro is also called a muscle car, and it isn't American
I'd call it a muscle car also since it and GTO look almost Identical. I'm not sure if I'm 100% right about this but is'nt Holden a division of GM?

i would say yes to the holden because holden is GMs aussie division and the american GTO is simply a reworked monaro, just about any front engine rwd american v8 will do (though im sure he would include the GNX)
to GTO: hey man im in gaithersburg MD im guessing you go to school in VA??

(not to try and override your opinion or anything its your thread lol )
i just read your profile and saw the list of cars, thats nice, im a mercedes guy and i definately plan on getting some muscle records on this post with my charger 440

You didn't override my opinion or anything, it's all good. Some cars are considered muscle cars only to some people. For example the GNX, it has characteristics of both a muscle car, and a sports car; therefore this car, along with many others, is in a sort of gray area. It is part muscle car, thus it may be discussed on this thread, along with the Holden Monaro etc... (I have a lake house in VA, but I actually live in MD, and go to school at Damascus, which means I am not too far from you in Gaithersburg).

i would have gone to damascus if i hadnt moved around to frederick then to gaithersburg, interesting to run into someone from the area... i think there are many cars that fall into the gray area of sports/muscle car like the old corvettes
and the cobra, and i would even consider the shelby mustang to be almost sports car because of its low weight and good handling... i plan to put up a time in a little while to get this thread moving

Can I ask that you please stop double posting in threads, the edit button is the preferred method of adding additional content to your last post if no one else has posted after you.

Double posting tends to make a mess of the threads and can cause confusion.

Thanks in advance.

I know I'm not 69GTOby, but perhaps as a clarification, I'm posting all the cars in GT4 that I would consider to be "muscle cars." Could you confirm which of these would make your list?

AC Cars 427 S/C 1966
Buick GNX 1987
Buick Special 1962
Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Concept 1988
Chevrolet Camaro SS 1969
Chevrolet Camaro SS 2000
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 302 1969
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe 1997
Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 1970
Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) 1963
Chevrolet Corvette GRAND SPORT (C4) 1996
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L46 350 (C3) 1969
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) 2000
Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 (C4) 1990
Chrysler 300C 2005
Dodge Charger 440 R/T 1970
Dodge Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi 1971
Ford Mustang GT 2005
Ford MUSTANG SVT Cobra R 2000
FPV F6 Typhoon 2004
FPV GT 2004
Holden Commodore SS 2004
Holden Monaro CV8 2004
Jensen Interceptor MkIII 1974
Mercury Cougar XR-7 1967
Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack 1971
Plymouth Super Bird 1970
Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe 2004
Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO 1964
Shelby Cobra 427 1965
Shelby Mustang G.T. 350R 1965

I'm undecided on whether to include these:
Callaway C12 2003
Shelby Series 1 Super Charged 2003
All C4 and C5 Corvettes

These ones all seem more like sports cars than muscle cars, but they also all have muscle car pedigree. I think the Corvettes are most deserving, and the Shelby Series 1 is the least deserving of the Muscle Car label.

What do you all think?

thats a pretty good list, i dont have the game on right now but it could be a little small but then again you included many by saying ::all:: so maybe not:dopey: in my opinions the ones that you werent sure about probably shouldnt be included as they are pretty exotic machinery that will easily begin dominating the list, but well see what GTO has to say about it

I edited my list to separate all the car models out. Now each unique car has its own entry with the full name as it appears in the game.

Of course some of these cars are going to pull away from the pack. The Corvette C5 and Shelby/AC Cobra will probably dominate most of these cars. They're not exactly the same kinds of muscle cars that, say, the Dodge Charger or Chevy Camaro are, but I still think they're muscle cars. The Corvette, of course, has become more of a sports car especially in recent years, so maybe it doesn't belong on the list.

tj, your post has nothing to do with this thread. If you want to post settings, find a generic drag settings thread. This thread is about drag racing using muscle cars. The Suzuki Escudo isn't a muscle car at all.

It does say in the title settings aswell but you are quite right, the escudo is not a muscle car ;) :)

11.043 in the '05 Mustang GT with 665hp. Man I wish there was a 5.0 LX in this game! I also got 11.701 in the Chrysler 300C Hemi with 679hp. I am posting times for modern muscle cars, because the older ones shouldn't use any driving aids, which makes things difficult. I am still trying to figure out how to get good times when traction is at a minumum. How did you get 11.438 sec at 151 mph in your Cgarger 440, land sea air?

Yes, it does look like a good list. Although, a specific list is somewhat unnecessary. I think "muscle car" should be a little bit more open ended. For example, the Corvette is considered by some a muscle car, so if someone posts a Corvette time, nobody needs to shoot it down, even though it is also considered a sports car; however if someone posts a time in an Escudo, then someone should speak up. lol

agreed on the escudo GTO, my settings for the 440 werent too different from what i would use in a race actually, i used very stiff springs and dampers and the trans was set somwhere in the middle of the auto slider, also super soft tires, the final note is that i use the right joystick for throttle so that i can minimize wheelspin, as soon as i feel the rear hook up good enough i hit the nos which was set to full power

EDIT: if the thread proves popular, perhaps we could do divisions for old/ new muscle cars, i have a feeling that more power and less weight for the old cars can make up for better transmissions and suspension in the newer ones
