I love that you call on people to present their thoughts on muscle cars only to tell them what is and isn't a muscle car.

Woah woah woah, where exactly did I tell anyone to present their thoughts on muscle cars. The topic is "Muscle Car People; what cars do you want to be in GT4?" By defining what a muscle car is how am I restricting anyone from doing that.

If anything, I am positively contributing to the thread at hand, not just posting links to threads you searched for using the terms "muscle car". Which brings me here:

Eagle
Come up with a topic that's worth getting back on. We've been here before. You notice those links? You bother clicking them? Anyone? Hmm? Of course not.

As stated the topic is "Muscle Car People; what cars do you want to be in GT4?" Did YOU click on any of those links. One of them is a muscle car bashing thread, two of them are general "will there be muscle cars in the game" threads, and one of them is requesting more Mustangs, which are pony cars and not muscle cars.

// Off topic:
I am sick of you busting in every thread, telling everyone there are too many threads, posting some links you found searching for the keywords in the thread, then acting all high and mighty when people continue discussing what is already going on. You have been here 2 months to the day and have nearly 1500 posts. I have been here nearly 7 months and this is my 26th post. I am pretty sure it isn't me cluttering up the boards. Why don't you sit back, relax, and not be a post count whore. 💡

Okay. Allow me to defend the honor of my glorious buddy Eagle...

First of all, Eagle is only being supportive. Sure, he sounds like he's one of the Moderators or one of the long-time members on this thread. And how long have I been on here? I'm going on 8 months. I joined GTPlanet on December 5, 2003. I've seen people come and go. I've made friends with people and decided to include some of the great people on here by putting them into my signature. From McLaren'sAngel to Nael Scorpio (whom I haven't heard from in a while), I have known many people. And I mean, Eagle is not here to hurt anyone. He's provided wonderful commentary in topics and can even be entertaining at times. This young man from Sydney (beautiful city. Never been, but seen pictures) is only on here for the same reason many of us are. To do forum topics and replies. I mean, if you want to look up people who came and went FOR GOOD, look up people who are banned from participating in GTP forum topics. I know I mention F-body a lot, but you have to realize. Whatever you like in cars and life, stick to it, but you have to be aware that this is a world of people coming together and having fun in one way or another. The more you start fights and rivalries and the more severe they get, that's when Moderators come in and admonish the two parties. But when a person crosses the line, that's when they get banned.

Like I said about someone else, it just means that a rough topic choice has been selected. And I mean, come on. Nobody hates anyone on GTPlanet no matter what. I have people on my Ignore List, but I still respect people as human beings and not crash test dummies. So what I'm saying in regards to o2sk8/Eagle is... calm down and relax. Alright? Stay safe.

Ok, I'll back out of the anti Muscle car thing, I still think it's stupid but go for your life. I will take the time to say a few things:

First, thanks John. Intermediaries are welcome.

o2sk8
The topic is "Muscle Car People; what cars do you want to be in GT4?"

Ok, but...

o2sk8
I only see maybe 3 muscle cars in that whole list.

Who said we were talking muscle cars? Muscle car people are just here to talk about cars in general, if we're going to be pedantic about the thread title. And that makes it another wishlist just like everyone else starts. And I'm not the only one who said that.

So post your muscle cars! I'm gonna go get high.

Edit: BTW, I am kidding before I get accused of violating the AUP, another oft overlooked link.

By the way, another note. Just because you open a thread to a certain audience doesn't mean that only those people can join in. One part has been stated already- the muscle car people. But then, there's "What cars do you want in GT4?" Ever watch "Wheel of Fortune?" Well, this reminds me of a "Before and After" category puzzle. Had the thread been called "What Kinds of MUSCLE CARS Would You Like in GT4," it would have been clear that it's about the muscle machines of America's past and present and even future.

But now that I mention my "American Cars" thread, this is basically a re-hash of something I've come up with before with low or moderate success. So be sure to look at my link on the other page.

Ok i'll agree that these are muscle cars ,But you think the AMXis a muscle car and the camaro is not? The AMX was also a small car basicly a pony car as you say in an earlier post about the camaro not being a muscle car.
I am looking at The American Muscle car book right now . It has copo and yenko motion and nickey camaros in it .All are 427 cars, iIt has copo and motion corvettes in it. It has the shelby 427 cobra which is by far full size family sedan ,and you can say what you want this is the car that puts muscle in muscle car.
The only real full size car in this book is 67 427 R code fairlane 500. It has some R/T cars in it but its mostly what most people call pony cars. Cuda's ,Challengers , GTO's , Camaro's ,

So what is a muscle car ? As the name say's any car with a big a$$ motor with lots of power. Thats my opinion of what a muscle car is. :trouble:

this is my favorite musclecar:
1987 buick grand national GNX

Now we're debating what cars are muscle cars and what our favourite muscle cars are.

And yet, if I post a link to say, https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28032, I'm being counter-productive? I even gave it a cursory read, the first page I'll confess, but it doesn't seem to just be full of hate, it seems to have people actually contributing their opinions. And there's 180+ posts worth of it.

What's a "pony" car...

Is it using c0ckney rhyming slang... "Pony and Trap" - Crap

C.

A pony car is for example a Mustang or Camaro body. They were called pony cars because they aren't small compact bodies nor huge luxury car bodies; they're in between.

I always thought the term 'Pony' car came from the fact that the original pony car - the mustang has a 'pony' as its badge - perhaps i'm sadly mistaken?

Ha ha; that's what I thought at first too, but when they said Camaro was a pony car, that's when I got it.

All this has been done before as others have already said, but if people love talking about cars, then talk, who cares if there is already a similar topic.
Here are a few sites I found which might contribute to the discussion.
http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars/general/musclecars-definition.shtml
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=muscle+car&defid=639949

I don't know about hurt, just reiterate the truth... fast off the line in a straight line... not so good in the corners or on any surface that isn't dry pavement... might put muscle-heads in their place about the limitations of those cars when it comes to real racing.
I quite like most muscle cars but i'm not under any illusions about their performance with regards to circuit racing. Drag racing and oval racing were popular in America and this is reflected in the muscle cars of the era. They didn't need to turn or stop real well. Having said that, the two cars below are American Mustangs which were raced in Australia under Series Production rules. The blue car was raced by Norm Beechey and was the first Mustang to win a circuit race anywhere in the world. Beechey won the championship in this car. The other car was raced by Ian 'Pete' Geoghegan. Geoghegan won the Australian Touring Car Championship three times with this car. Both Beechey and Geoghegan raced regularly against cars like Fiats, Alfas, Porsches and Lotus Cortinas and beat them regularly.
Circuit racing has always been far more popular than oval racing and drag racing in Australia, and this is also reflected in the Australian muscle cars. Homologation specials were required to be made before a car could be entered in the Australian Touring Car Championship. Hence, the cars which raced on the circuit were identical in specification to the cars which were purchased from the dealer, and these were very hot cars when it came to circuit racing. Two examples of Aussie muscle cars are below. One is the Ford Falcon GTHO of Allan Moffat, the other is the Holden Torana A9X of Peter Brock.
I'd like to see some Monaros, Toranas and Commodores in GT4, as well as Falcons. Some of the American muscle cars I would like to see are a Camaro ZL-1, Shelby Mustang, Chevelle, Charger, Cougar and GTO.

intimidator ss
iroc z
yenko turbo z 1981
69 yenko

I just hope it will be as easy as in GT2 to beat the hell out of these heavy, overpowered dinosaurs. I could win serie anytime with a Celica , Megane or FTO GPX. I never purchased any "muscle car" and I don't want any muscle car in GT4.
The serie name is Granturismo, not granmuscle. They are in the game just to increase the sales figures south of the border.
Will the muscle car track in GT4 be located in Hazard county, Georgia ? lol

i disagree with you on that one. the point of gran turismo 4 is to give people the experience of driving all kinds of cars not just little tiny japanese cars. i think it's good that they added muscle cars.

You seem to completely miss the point of Gran Turismo, it's focus is not to include one type of car, but to include as many and as diverse a selection as possible.

What will come next in GT5: dirt track racing ? soapbox racing ?

Yah well it ain't Gran TuRICEmo or Gran TuKEIMo or Gran TuWRCmo either so what's your point. The more cars the better. If you don't like a car, DON'T DRIVE IT. Simple as that.

Most of all I want this;

  • 2002/3 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

No, not the Cobra R, I want the regular SVT Cobra.
