BTW: When I say "handle" something, I'm referring to the cost of the car. I wouldn't want you to get behind on payments to the bank, insurance, etc because you're also paying for school.

That is a tough one. It was either an incredibly pointless car or a great idea, and it totally depends on your viewpoint on which one you swing towards. It is either the perfect blend of performance and luxury in the sub 30K segment, or it is the disgusting precursor to the compromised mess that is the current Impreza. This one is a much better deal anyways.
Either way, it doesn't stand up to either of the Corvettes or the 540i.

Every single C4 on Autotrader is going for C5 prices (ie. double what they are worth) and there isn't a single C5 anywhere near where he lives for under $15,000 despite most early C5s being worth around the $13,000 range.

Wow... The interior looks amazingly CHEAP on that 'Vette.

That said... Looks damn good, but I doubt 410hp. 350 or so at the wheels maybe... If lucky. I'd MAYBE buy if I had the cash, but I personally would be more happy with a 1996-1998 Mustang Cobra. They're nicer cars in my opinion (which is very screwy... The 'Vette is THEORETICALLY better in all aspects... More power, lighter, IRS, better aerodynamics... But it's missing something.)

I just got back from test driving the green 93 Vette. I really like it. It's like my old Camaro but three steps better. The car sat in a garage for most of its life and that certainly shows. The paint is awesome and the interior is 95%.

It drives really well and is suprisingly quiet inside. The seats are much better than the 986's I feel, and the car has way more power.

I called up the insurance company and they said that insurance on this Vette would only be $4 more every six months than a 986 would be. An S2000 is $60 more than a 986 and the Passat is $55 more than the Boxster.

RX8s are very ugly IMO.

A 350Z would OWN me on insurance.

Dad wants to go look at the ghetto 540 tommorow, but im not sure if I care. Insurance is $42 more than the Vette is. On top of that I would have to buy new front fenders. I dont like them either.

If Icould find an SLK55 in my pricerange, maybe....but they are still girly IMO.

If per MONTH, the BMW is around $500 a year over the 'Vette.

That generation of Corvette was 350 at the crank, so you're looking at the high 300 range by the time it hits the wheels. Change out an air-intake and the exhaust, you'll free up horsepower like you shot a gun off at a colt ranch.

But I had no idea the Boxster would be that cheap. Much less, that a Passat would cost more. That, I assume, comes down mostly to repair costs. Or the fact that the VW and S2000 are newer. I'm not sure...

Shop around, shop around. Normally I look at what I can afford insurance wise first and then pick a car after that.

Look at anything with a non-Corvette LT1 (or any late first gen. Small Block Chevy) in it (Impala SS, Caprice, 3rd gen. Camaros). "Oh no! I sneezed near the exhaust pipe and now my Impala makes 300 HP at the wheels!"
