My 89 E34 got a friend: 1992 Mazda MX5

The car got a new front axle, as this is needed from time to time on almost every BMW.

Needed the left one but ordered the right since the E34-Board-guys confirmed that this will be the right one. Unfortunately we killed one of the old ones when trying to build them in again.
Now I'm waiting for the new ones since last weeks Saturday. My cousin who helped me changing the parts ordered them at their parts-deliverer and it said "delivered the day after tomorrow". Now one week passed and still nothing. I want my car back :(

EDIT: Just realized the photos are gone. I will reupload them later! Done

Ah man I had one of these, same year and it was an automatic. It was so insanely slow but ran great. Put H&R + Bilstein combo on it, and 245r17 Star Specs. The lady at the autocross that gave out the time slips kept telling me that "You are scaring everyone out there with that big car of yours but you are doing a great job!"

I am so glad you have a manual.

I'll keep it stock, the only thing I might do is a 30mm lowering in the front, but I'm not quite sure about that..

Every time I hear this sentence, it makes me deeply happy on the inside, especially when the car is as pristine as yours. A beautiful time capsule is what it is. How much euronium did you have to fork over to buy this gem?

you mean how much I paid the previous owner or how much I have put into it by now?

I was wondering how much you paid the previous owner to take this 1.5 tonnes of perfection off his hands.

It looks so damn mint, for something this good, I expect you to have paid some sort of premium over the average 525i you can find on mobile.de, and I'm genuinely curious what the price level for a like-new youngtimer like yours is (though to be fair, your car is probably pretty unique).

Also, if I didn't make it clear enough in the first post: awesome car; I adore it :D

I paid 1300€ :D

You live in Denmark? I know somebody in Denmark who owns a 518i M43, it's has very rusty doors and my friend there paid almost 4000€ o.O

Okay, bye, moving across the border.

:p

Yes, I do, and I can confirm that this sums up our nation's fleet of cars very well

We pay a 180% VAT/MwSt. on new cars, so used cars are expensive, too. €4000 for a tatty 518i sounds a bit extreme, though, unless he bought it many years ago. We also have an M43 BMW (2001 318i), and that is worth about €5000 with 230,000 kms on the clock. It's well looked-after, but nowhere near as mint as yours.

Bargain! The cheapest E34s here are around £2000-£3000 (2500€-3800€) and they certainly aren't in perfect condition like yours.

You get rubbish ones here for under 1000€.
The car was previously owned by a good friend of mine who bought it for 530€ and then invested around 800€ into it to put it in this condition :D

Thats great, sounds like very good value to me 👍

I've always loved 80s and 90s German saloons, my dad had a Merc 190E until a few years ago. The build quality was great, as it is in your BMW I assume.

Oh @Leggy1, the interieur is making noises when driving on bad roads, a little bit annoying but at the moment I do not have time nor money to pull out, clean and reinstall the interieur completely. The paintjob is in poor condition, but it tells storys :D

If that's the only problem with the inside then it's comparable to a 2 year old Vauxhall :D I hope you will be able to maintain it, fix the little problems.

After some years of saving money and searching for a good one I finally bought myself an MX5 in October 2015. It was 100% stock when I got it but I already had the plan of making it something 90s Touge inspired.

So far I've put on these 7x14 Heyking wheels, mounted a BBK catback exhaust and threw in some D2-coilovers

Don't worry, it'll be lowered some more in the future :D
Also I want to get a bucket-seat, a rollbar, some Takata harnesses and a Nardi steering wheel :)

EDIT: The BMW isn't sold, just take off the road because I had no money for paying the insurance after I bought the Mazda. Also I had a rendez-vous with a deer 🤬

All this time and I had no idea you were on GTPlanet.

Love the MX-5! I heard they're sometimes hard to find in Germany? Check out OneLapHeroes on YouTube, they love playing with them on the Ring. I've a stock MX-5 but have toyed with the idea of doing some modifications similar to what you have in mind. Chiefly: lower, Bride seats, roll bar, Takata harness, Nardi wheel and some tow hooks for flavor. Probably wont happen anytime soon but in the meantime I'll keep an eye on your build!

Good ones are hard to find, if you don't want to spend a fortune. Mine has some rust and I'll need to do something against it soon.
