And ONLY if you get behind someone. I noticed that when Overtake is turned on, even if there are no other cars around, your driver will weave in and out of the racing line, which only serves to slow him down. Turning it off assures that he holds the proper line. Just keep an eye on it, and whenever he comes up behind someone (including lapped traffic), turn on Overtake until he gets by, then turn it off again.

yep.

Yeah, so my B-spec driver has 4802 points... so I go out and buy the BWM V12 LMR Race car...

I just want to get to the extreme stuff, so I bought the V12 LMR to do the 'dirty' work on the Gran Turismo Championship. I watched the first lap or 2 until my Bspec freak got in the lead, then i put him at 4 and sat back for the win.

Well, lap 9/10 comes around, and he pits (without me telling him too). I get tires and i'm about 10-15 secs ahead of the GT-One that's in second.

Well, I switched back to real time so I could watch the 'fantastic' finish. Well, I started to notice that he wasn't driving like he was before the pit stop. He just kept putting the breaks on for no reason...

So about the third to last turn, the GT-One owns me and i watch my b-spec freak get out of the way. Then, he finally makes it to the straightaway (this is at Tokyo) and he starts BREAKING on the STRAIGHT! Needless to say he gets RAMMED by the third and fourth place cars, and I end up taking third! WHAT THE CRAP IS UP WITH THAT!?!?

Good one, Polyphony... 👎 👎 👎 👎 :ouch:

maybe he was gonna lose control? i dont know what's up with that one.

That happened last night using the 1969 GT40 in the 24 Nurb. race after about 3 hours. So I took control for a stint in A-spec . . .car ran fine . . . gave the car back to B-spec and he did the same thing again . . slowing to 55mph on the LONG straight. I was very upset. Can the car acquire damage in B-spec mode? Becasue I did notice the car getting into a fairly big accident with two cars coming out of the pits . . . .

you probably ran out of gas.

iteresting note, you know you CAN tell your driver not to pit right?

the pit light usually comes on a lap to a half lap early, all you do is turn it off, and they'll go around for another lap.

With about 7k points here the B-spec driver isn't too bad at all, but I wouldn't trust him to win a closely matched race or use any car over 750HP with sports tires.

I guess my main gripe about the B-spec driver is that he's either not aggressive enough (not willing to leave the racing line to pass, lingering behind those he could easily pass) or aggressive in stupid ways (rear ends people on long straights, though it was funny seeing him do it to that old Fiat 500 something in the Chevelle SS going at least 80 mph faster than it). I just use him to take care of endurance races and regular championships that I'd label no cotest.

I'm just glad that he can get better.

For the first 1/4 lap push the pase (5) car almost never spins out, then drop to steady (3) on city tracks or cruise (2) on open tracks where you can go off track more easily. I hope this helps.

Last night I decided to try to up my B-spec driver's points by letting him run lots of laps at Tsukuba while I made and ate dinner. When I finished eating, I turned the TV back on to see how my guy was doing. He had turned 188 laps, and I wanted to see what his pace was like. So I took over. Man, I couldn't keep up with him. He was consistent through all the corners and he was beating me by 0.3 seconds per lap.

I checked afterwards and he only had 4800+ B-spec points. I entered him in a few miscellaneous races (in the M Club to get the M3 GTR, I had him drive the M3 GTR Race Car) and he whipped some asses in there (he ought to with that car).

Then I entered him in the Vette Vette Vette! race with a C4 Grandsport modified to 454 hp (When I saw that number I stopped modding, I was like YEAH 454 baby!) He kicked ass in that series too.

Dammit's name won't be changed anytime soon but he's improving, no question. I was shocked I couldn't beat him at Tsukuba, so that's a good sign.

I'm going to hit to threads with one answer here:

Give the B-Spec driver time to learn in good prepared cars. I had to buy a brand new Audi R8 for the 24 hour races. Right now mine's got a 3+ lap lead at LeMans with 10 hours left in the race. The Sauber is in 2nd and the Toyota is 3rd. I did a couple of stints earlier and was faster than my driver by 5 seconds. After I turned the car back over to my driver, his lap times were only a second off of mine.

Wear and Tear on the R8

I had already put one entire series and one endurance race on my R8. I went to bed lastnight and left my driver running the Fuji 1000 in and a R8. He was running against the Sauber and both Nissan's. He ran 4th and got slaughtered to say the least. So Yes the R8 does wear out quickly. Plan on buying a new one every 2-3 endurance races?

You might have a valid point about getting a new car after so many enduro's 💡

Ran the Toyoyta 88C-V Race Car on the Sarthe Circuit 24 Hour I, two times. On the 2nd race, i was able to win it & in B-spec Mode, the driver actually lapped the field

A-Spec ET = 3:21 Average
B-Spec ET = 3:26 Average

Decided to take the Toyoyta 88C-V Race Car on the Sarthe Circuit 24 Hour II. My lap times average to a 3:07 to the other Toyoyta of 3:12. After my 1st pit stop, i noticed that my MPH down the straight would barely hit 228mph :grumpy:, it got worse by the 3 hour of me driving it last night.

The only thing i changed on the car was to drop the ride height to 83F / 83R & the wing settings where 63F / 86R [ Sarthe I setting 63F / 85R ]. Huge difference on how the car handles but the stupid B-Spec was losing 20 seconds at every hour.

No added Turbo since i want to make it a very fair challange but im afraid that i will have to attempt this race again this saturday with me driving 10 hours of it.

A 3 lap lead over 2nd place should let me win at the final hour. In B-Spec, the other Toyoyta car catches up 1 lap every 5 1/2 hours.

I dont have a problem with my B-spec got about 6222 points give or take a couple, skill 71 58 59 I dont know where that ranks or what it means but keeps going up, I hav about 250 miles or so on B-spec and most of the time he kicks some serious ass, but yesterday I had him drive the Alfa race car in the dutch touring races and after the first race I had to take over because I guess he's never heard of 4 wheel drive.

But he can drive the Mercedes Touring car like no other. I leave him on 5 and he just loves that car almost never wrecks. ALMOST!

You mean Deutsch Touring car races or are there also Dutch races(wich would be starnge cause there isn't any Dutch track)

Looking forward to trying this when I get the game. WIll let the B-Spec Driver run a few races to get his points up. Hoping I'll bring over some credits from GT3 A-Spec to help me get a better car

Hmm. I used it for the Sunday cup when my game crashed after doing Gymkhana early on (haven't gone back, and I turned auto-save back on :P). Since then I've just used B-spec for doing the money DTM. I leave it on 4, overtake, and he beats everyone by a half lap. 99% of the time he gets 1st on Opera Paris, he did get 2nd once. That course is hard to pass on for the AI, whereas the more open courses, he smokes everyone. If I feel like paying attention I take it off overtake after the first lap, but I don't need to. I'm using the CLK GTR with just a stage 3 NA (I thought the turbo lag would make Opera Paris even worse, and it's also less horsepower than the NA tune :) ). From 800k to 6.1 million after an evening of homework and GT4 in the background... I'm liking it.

and since I cant do all this driving in one sitting (my hands get numb from the strong force feedback of my DFP) I opt for B-Spec mode for a few of my races....z

Did anyone want to call the wambulance for this guy. :yuck: I pray that you never drive a real car if the DFP is to much for you. In a real race car you wouldn't last one hot lap if that wears you out.

Don't forget to change the oil and wash it.. You may be losing ponies, because you should ALWAYS change your oil after a long race. Your oil may still be "golden" in the oil change screen, but sometimes it will still cause power loss. An oil change and wash should fix it up. Hopefully..

If this doesnt work, let me know. :)

My B-Spec driver is like a second better than me on new tires and then like three seconds off on old tires. Although if you put him on steady he's better on old tires.

Did you let the B-spec run on Arcade or Gran Turismo mode???? If he turned 188 laps did you just setup Arcade mode race to have 200+ laps? or was it on Time trial???? The points you got were transfered to Grand Turismo mode or vice-versa? ...please let me know, my B-spec AI is worthless... thanks.

if your B-Spec driver was amazing and could win every race, the game would not really be any good then because you could win every race on b-spec if you wanted to.... just use a-spec if he sucks, and if you do worse than him, you suck baaad

Just for your edification, put your b-spec guy, "Dammit" in my game as well  , in like the Autobianchi overnight on the Ring on 4, you'll improve machine skill by at least five points (if you put it on x3). I went from 84 to 92 in like 6 hours realtime this way!

Has anyone else come accross the glitch of on the SARTHE II circuit, without the chicanes, that the B-spec driver all of a sudden, going down the massive straight, turns and tries to drive through the wall, he will overtake most people, but then all of a sudden he wants to drive through the wall for a while, for no reason? it frustrates me in the 24 hour races, one of three down, and it losses all the places it makes up. B-spec rocks other than this stupid glitch

I've found the best way to do B-Spec is to take a fairly decent car (like the Honda dualnote - get all Silver on the A Licence) and just constantly run easy races like the Sunday Cup. Yes, you get low B-spec points and just 600 Credits for each race win, but you also get 9000-Credit car for winning all five races. This way you can build up B-Spec Bob's (or in my case, B-Spec Belinda ...) skills.

Just make sure you use a variety of cars on a variety of tracks - this is where the free races on the circuits that don't count towards your stats come in handy - and you'll be able to refine your driver into someone awesome. It's no good to simply use B-Spec Bob/Belinda for the first time in the 24-Hour Enduros because they won't have the skills to win. You have to think long-term. It might be boring to begin with, but eventually you'll be glad you did it.

I'm also toally aware of the irony of this post, as my B-Spec Belinda has currently clocked up 0km ...

The Sunday Races are the best way to increase B-Spec points. It's done in just a few seconds, depending on the track and if you X3 it.
