My first car | slow moving project | Big update! :D

I need some suggestions though. I really hate how the hubcaps look, and I don't know if I should paint them flat black, or take them off and just refinish the steelies in flat black, just because they are chipped and rusted in various places.

I'd probably just ditch the hubcaps in that case, and just re-coat the wheels with a new back finish. We did that before my brother had to sell his 323 SE, and it did make it look a lot better. We're probably going to end up doing it to his Sentra as well, although we haven't officially decided.

Just make sure you grind down the wheels a bit to get the nasty coating off of it...

I also oiled up my gas pedal and cable, it was sticking a bit, making it hard to give throttle smoothly. It still needs work though.
Hondas seem to be like that, for some reason. My first car (an 80's Accord) and my wife's CR-V have a "lightswitch" gas pedal. I recall my grandmother's Civic and my dad's old Integra had similar accelerator pedal behavior.

It's either on or off, difficult to find gray area at first, in my opinion.

...took off the rubber things in the wheelwells, took off the plastic trim around the fenders...
You keep saying this about two different pieces; you seem confused about what we were describing before. What exactly did you remove? All we were talking about was the thin black strip that was glued on over the wheel arch. Please tell me you didn't take out the fender lining as well.

I took that off, as well as these rubber things that cover the lip of the quarter panel that curves into the wheelwell. Only on the back. The fender liners are still there.

Heres some more updated pics. Today I cleaned the engine bay and tightened my passenger seat.

So far what I have done is: Take off the "DX" sticker on the back, take off the "auto sales" sticker, take off the plastic trim around the fenders, take off the rubber covers on the fender lip ( the part that is rolled when you roll your fenders), clean my engine bay, lubricate my throttle pedal and cable, tighten my passenger seat, and other very small things.

Tomorrow I hope to take off the hubcaps, fix some panels that aren't fitting very good in the back of the car, and hopefully if my dad find a new wheel bearing from my uncle's parts cars, change my wheel bearing. Painting my wheels will come whenever I buy some paint.

You can see the big ding on the door on this pic.

And a cool little pic that I took under the orangeish streetlight across the road.

Woah, clean engine bay! I don't think the 'lude has had its engine bay that clean since the day it rolled off the boat. 👍

I love clean engine bays.:D

I used engine degreaser, then I went to a car wash and used the engine cleaning stuff there. When I came back, I found more dirt and grime that I didn't see before, so I went back a washed it again. Although all together I used around 5 bucks, which is little IMO for a sparkling engine bay.

I thought DX was the base trim, yet I see A/C, AND a C/D Cassette player.
I think CX is base trim, but I also find it odd that I have a factory cd player, but manual windows, locks and mirrors. There's no cassette player though, but I don't care, I don't listen to music while driving anyways, much less cassettes.

Maybe YOUR 'Lude engine bay doesnt look like that :dopey: BTW why is the speedo in KPH?
The car is originally Canadian, so that explains the speedo. Although it's so awesome showing people who don't know my 0-60 time.:dopey:

EDIT: I was talking with a friend, who has a lot of "Honda fan" friends. He said he could very easily get me free parts, even a turbo kit if I had gotten my car a little earlier. I don't want a turbo, but as long as I don't have to pay for it...:D

Even if it was the bast trim wouldn't it still have at least a/c? The car was made in 99' I would assume a/c would be standard on all cars with the exception of racing inspired ones.

Air Conditioning is optional on the Civic DX here. :dunce:

EDIT: Or was that the last generation.... Because I don't see it under standard features for the Civic DX Coupe MT....

Not a pun, but a hefty dose of sarcasm. In fact, I agree with it. You're not cool until you either have a real NOS that you haven't had time to hook up or a bazooka-tube subwoofer that looks like a NOS.

Wow. Nice shooting. I feel like I am looking at a well done GT4 gallery, except with an amazingly clean car. Very nicely done!👍

Wow, these are some great pictures. You can take such better pics in real ife than yo ucan in a video game.

I'm loving the third speed shot. How did you get that shot? Were you riding in a buddy's car with somebody else driving yours or did your friend take the picture from his car? It looks great, however you did it.

My other favorites are the last three. The first of the three has a really classy and expensive look, which is completely ridiculous since the subject is a Civic. But hey, it looks great. I love the neutral colors, the reflections and highlights, and the blurry-glow thing it's got.

Photoshop skillz....:sly:

But that would be so awesome to pull that off without editing.

Hmph.

I should have known you had edited that, but I can't even tell by looking at it. I've seen so many real pics like it that I just figured you really took it. Well, the result is fantastic.

So when are you getting your NAWZ?
