My MR2. Random AW11 content inside.

A stock 3S is a fun engine. A lightly modded 3S is a really fun engine. The problem is they aren't cheap nor common so whens something breaks its going to cost you a lot.

The V6 on the other hand while it won't make the same power they're so cheap and reliable its silly. They're not exactly slow either. Have you looked at the 1MZ? The 3VZ is a older engine these days and finding one with low miles that was taken care of is pretty hard. The 1MZ on the other hand while a little more expensive they can be had with lower miles a lot easier.

im not planning to go get that much HP out of this MR2. if i ever end up buying another one, Ill go all out on that one. As for the current one I own, I just want a moderately fast and fun daily car. the 1MZ, from what ive heard, is more a pain in the ass than the 3vz. i know they dont put out as much HP but the torque is amazing.

until I actually get a chance to drive both, i wont fully decide which one to swap in yet. If I swap the 3S, it will just have slight mods

If you do the 3S go with a 3rd gen. They had better electronics.

As far as the 1MZ being harder I don't know. The guy I bought this car from also has one with an '01 1MZ with VVTI and he said it wasn't that hard of a swap.

yeah, if im goin with a 3S, it will be a 3rd gen. what i meant about the 1MZ being a pain in the ass is that from what ive researched, it is more prone to having mechanical problems than the 3VZ.

Nice! Possibly the most affordable middle-engined car??
Does "MR" stand for middle-rear? Has Toyota discontinued it?

SUGGESTION!!

Just my 20c worth.

Or you could give it a straight pipe instead of big fat polished ricer mufflers. It looks ridiculous hanging off the back of the car. Single straight pipe, maybe a polished tip.

Like this, but for your car...

Nice car mate :D!

I am probably going to get a 93 for my first car by end of next year I hope :).

That probably sounds like ass unless you're at redline. I am considering the EMS powered exhaust right now since its on sale.

Well I decided to resell the '94+ tails I bought. I ended up losing a little money thanks to PP fees but I figured I could better use the money elsewhere. The fact that I had to refund someone else who bought some parts from me helped make that decision for me.

Nothing else has changed yet. Its generally cold as balls here in Illinois and with all the snow and salt I don't like driving very much. I had an odd issue the other day with the speedo spinning its tits off but I am thinking that was just the cold since its warmer today and it didn't do it again when I drove it earlier.

In other news, I still really want an AE86. I thought about selling my AW11 and trying to find one but I still love that little car for some reason. Call me crazy I guess.

I decided that I haven't shown off my other MR2 enough. Or at all actually. I might have posted only one or two other photos of it on the site.

This is my 1986 MK1 NA 5 speed sun roof. This is my first MR2 that I bought in March 2008. Its not much to look at and I don't show it much love at times but I don't think I could ever sell it for anything else.

I know where that park is! I've been there! XD

now, why Haven't I seen an MR2 with ADVAN wheels on the road?

Its only miller park.

I don't drive very much?

Also, I changed the oil in both MR2s yesterday. Royal Purple was on sale so I figured what the heck. $92 later I was a lot poorer but satisfied with the day.

Holy rear quarter rust.

Nice car though, but call me picky I would have vacuumed that thing out before taking pics.

I don't remember the last time I vacuumed the car. It is very dirty though. I haven't washed it recently either.

Here in the north, we have something called winter. Its a bitch. I drove this car through two of them since I have owned it. I have replaced the front valance, that is why its a different color. It was so rusted it was nearly ready to fall off. Not much I can do about the rest.

Winter doesn't have anything to do with it. It's the chemicals (or salt) they put on the roads. Thankfully in Colorado they use a chemical solution that doesn't cause rust on cars. Don't mind me about the vacuum thing, I'm anal about my cars and they are hardly ever dirty on the inside.

Those are a couple of real beauties! I like how you're so dedicated to them - it's good that you're taking nice care of them.👍 Keep up the good work!

Are either of them your daily drivers? Which one gets more road time?

Some parts are faded while others have been repainted. The wax took to the car extremely well. The car was also washed twice before waxing.

So I don't drive the AW11 much anymore. Its got its issues and sometimes I think about selling it. Then I think about how AW11s aren't worth the metal they're made of so I give it a quick go around the block. Its such an amazing little car I fall back in love with it every time.

I haven't auto crossed it in so long. I miss going to events. Its just so dang expensive these days.

I had a buddy of mine who is a Mazda technician at the dealership I work at take a look at the AC on my MK2 today. It held vacuum fine so he put 30 ounces of R134 in it. It seems to be working well now with no sign of leaks yet. Its not ice cold but its cold enough to finally be able to drive around with the windows up.

I need to get the AC working on my MK1. The compressor doesn't kick in or anything. Would be nice to have with this weather.
