My MR2. Random AW11 content inside.

Anyone use the Falken RT615K? discount tire has them for $411 shipped in the size I'm looking at for my MK1.

Tirerack does? I've never seen the Falkens on there. What size are you looking at?

I've had some experience with the rt615(not the "K"), one set of new 195s on 14s and a set of extremely used 205s on 15s. They're a good tire, high grip level and easy in my experience to catch when you go past that level. I couldn't tell you about durability, as I didn't have mine long enough and they were bald to begin with. The "K" is supposed to be better so I'd say it's a good tire.

I believe the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec is a better tire all around but it's a bit more expensive. You would probably be looking at 500 shipped for those.

The Star Spec is widely considered superior.

I believe the RT61K is suppose to resolve the problem the RT615 had with losing grip when it got warmed up, which wasn't an issue with Auto-X but was a problem for extended driving sprints.

My mistake on that. Discount tire has the falkens. I was also looking at the Star specs from tire rack. They're $492 shipped. They'll be mostly street tires with a few autox events "maybe." Size is 195/60/14.

I'm thinking about buying some Panasports to go along with them. 14x7.

Also thinking about selling the supercharged. It I actually like driving the NA better.

RT615s blow hard. I don't know about the K but the old ones are just always bad, dry or wet. The verdict is in and it's unanimous - all they're good at is being used for cheap on Craigslist. Despite the Si being front heavy, the RT615s were positively dangerous at highway speed in moderate or heavier rain. Multiple times during spring storms I was trudging along under 60 while being passed by minivans.

I'd say Star Specs are still the best bang for the buck, along with NT05s. The Nitto isn't tested by Tire Rack but the guy from 949 Racing switched from Star Specs to NT01s and found out they're both similar, the Nitto having a tighter feel but requiring more precision. The AD08 and RE11 are so expensive they're almost not worth talking about, no matter how awesome they are. Speaking of the NT05, personal experience says they're retarded good in the wet, completely unlike the RT615. Eighty mph in a moderate rain and the RX7 isn't too awful sketchy. They also last quite a while if your toe alignment isn't bogus, even with multiple track days. See my FB buddy Cameron for reference as he's had them on his E36 M for over 2 years now.

You just bought it and you're looking to sell already? Is there something wrong with it, or you're just looking for something new?

I've got a friend who's looking to buy a new car and has offered to buy mine several times. I've been looking at MR2s and MX-5s, haven't found many good ones around here...

I'm very a.d.d and I need a little more money to start looking at nicer bikes. I could probably get a 250 right now but I'd rather have a 650. A friend at work just bought a Kawasaki and I'm pretty much smitten with it.

looks just like mine when i got it same advan rims same color same everything!
please be careful in the rain

I've decided that over the next couple of months I'm going to be updating some things on the AW11. I'm looking at getting some Ksports and a new set of wheels/tires at the very least.

At least one of my Konis is blown I think. Not sure what else to do. I wanna ditch the ground controls at the same time.

Also thinking about getting some Rotas. I'm tired of the advans. I like the RB or RKR.

Is there something wrong with Ksports? I've heard the ride is rough but that doesn't bother me.

There is also a set of used F2s for sale for about $600 but I'd have to drill a pair of holes for the upper mounts.

Since you are the MR2 master around here, what are your thoughts on this? It's an '86, appears to be a non-supercharged model. For $1500, it seems fair, but it needs a new engine fan. Any thoughts?

The body seems to be in pretty good shape with minimal rust, hard to tell on my phone. Could be something as simple as needing the coolant lines properly "burped", but I would suspect the worse and say it needs a headgasket. If it drove fine I would say 1,000, maybe? Might be worth a little more, 4AGs can be found for cheap. 300 minimum to get it going whether you swap a used engine or have to replace the hg.

I'm cheap so take that with a grain of salt.

Edit: Nevermind, read needs new engine instead of fan. Hmm, like you said seems fair if that's really the only problem.

I've been looking at getting something to tinker with, I figured this might not be too bad. We'll see. When a car is as old as I am, I find it kinda cool in a weird way.

Its got rust in the usual places but they all do by now. Looks alright otherwise. Engines are fairly cheap and its basically like working on a rear mounted fwd setup as its still transverse.

Its an NA obviously because superchargers were not offered until 1988. Make sure to ask if it pops out of gear. Older MR2s had an issue with 5th gear not fully engaging. Its mostly higher mile cars.

Looks like neither of us were very observant  It says it doesn't have the 5th gear popout.

80's Toyotas rock, IMO. I've had my MR2 and AE86, I also had a Corolla FX which was a lot of fun. Since I've already got 2 miatas if I was to get another car I would really be interested in the Corolla FX16 GTS. It comes with the 4age, disks, cool interior and a bit of ground effects. It would be a bit more practical than the MR2 and still a lot of fun.

They're all Taiwanese made coilovers with no development behind them.

Thats what I've got and I'm tired of it. The GCs rattle and my Konis are getting tired. I think one of them is blown. I estimate 40k miles.
