ok, I'm getting a new mountain bike soon & I need some tips on what to buy. My budget is £2000, I want disk brakes & EZ fire gears. Please Help!!!

You can have my "mountain bike".

I cycled to work in it a couple of weeks ago and I left it there because of the rainy weather. I've been walking or taxiing since.

I paid €80 for it a year ago. If you can saw the lock off and get rid of the rusty crust, and inflate the tyres, it's yours for €20.

I think it'll be easier to just deny it's existence because my company is moving premises soon anyway. The new company can "worry" about it.

No offence to Kieran, but that's a bit of a come down, don't you think? From a bike costing 2 grand to a bike that cost about 50 quid new. Disk brakes alone will cost more than that.

So I think you should go for that.

I would sell you my rock hopper comp disc, but you would get reamed on the shipping

I COULD dis-assemble the whole bike into every little part and ship it to you

yours for $650

ill post a pic in a day or so...

Isn't selling items outside of the Trading Post considered advertising?

Just wondering. Thought I saw someone get a warning for trying to sell items outside of the Trading Post.

Definately go for a Rockhopper....... there a great reasonably priced bike...definately worth buying :)

I bought one afew years ago and I love it... it can really take some of the rougher stuff like downhill eventhough its a hardtail... its also very adaptable making it really nice to ride on the road and its really really light!! also having a specialized makes it feel abit more upmarket from your other giants etc...

This is one ive got... I thinks its the 2001 or 02 model... that was the last time they had it for sale in the more expensive looking specialized official colours like the s-works ones used to be painted in..... since then they have not done this red and white paint scheme with white forks!

Anyway, Highly Recommended 👍 👍

Okay, sweet. You finally put the poll up. ...Just what I was suggesting you do. If you don't need a suspension, the rockhopper seems good to go.

Dude, I already told you. €20 for my old bike if you can unchain it from the bikeshed. Forget this newfangled nonsense.

well, i think you should look for these in a mountain bike (could cost a lot)

carbon fibre frame (yup)
front and rear Hayes disk brakes
front and rear Rock Shox suspension
front and rear maxxis tyres (at least 2.0 thick)
good and durable derailleurs (not sure of any)
aluminum rims

these are usually good enough to make a crazy mountain bike, but again, it can cost a lot.....good luck getting one :) 👍

but, i would agree that the rockhopper is a great bike. getting it a new front suspension would make it better and equipping it with front and rear disk breaks can really make it a ride 👍

I'd go for a Specialized.

They were a while ago, hence it being on my 2004 summer racing schedule.
For prosperity, here’s the original I made for you…
