was there to that day ... Grey ; french reg ; E30 4 door Mtech1 M3 3L engine ;) now replaced with the E46 in avatar ;) .... the E30 doing the videofilming the aftermatch of the crash is a freind too :D

BTG = Bridge to Gantry ( that is first bridge on the straight ( as you enter mid straight ) to the gantry at the start of the straight.... )

I've checked my photos from that day but I only found one Grey E30, and I only see a small part of it. It's one with a kind of BBS wheels. The photo of my avatar is from that day. As I can't drive in the circuit I spent the day taking photos. That Sunday and the Monday after it there were a huge selection of supercars.

yep BBS RX 215 in 17inch with 325mm brakes in them ;) ( HiSpec )

there is a red one too that i built and is reg in Frankfort ( GG or DA reg depending on the date; it is a red mtech2 coupe; 3L M3 engine too. hartge 16inch rims. )

Question: I noticed the miles I'm driving in Arcade mode aren't counting on the car's odometer (stats). Do they count toward miles driven on the track (as shown on the stats page)?

2- High speed corners are the most likely to kill if you get it wrong, so my guess is that those must be the ones where Horst is more conservative. That might explain the difference in the high speed grip.

Another possibility is that downforce is stronger in game, although its unlikely.

@Stotty About that comparison of apex speeds I might have been right with my second guess, despite having deemed it as unlikely (I forgot we were dealing with PD here and with data that is hard to find and test).

Sport Auto actually tests the downforce of cars at 200 km/h. The 12C was tested as having 2kg in front and 62 kg in rear. And the manufacturer claims 120 kg total downforce at 300 km/h. The car in game has level 0 in front and level 80 in rear. I don't know how much it would translate in kg, but I would guess that it is little more.

As added information, some cars that were tested by Sport Auto compared to the downfoce level in game:

Car - test at 200 km/h (F/R) - downforce level in game (F/R)

Ferrari 458 - (-32kg / +31kg) - (100 / 200)
Aventador - (-28kg / +73kg) - (50 / 100)
Corvette Z06 - (-49kg / -22kg) - (0 / 0)

And some that I don't know the real downforce, but the in game seems uncannily high:

McLaren F1 - (200 / 450)
Jaguar XJ220 - (200 / 450)

The downforce is strong on those ones. :sly:

That certainly contributes for the differences in apex speed and lap time, as maintaining momentum in high speed corners plays a big role on Nordschleife.

Nice toys . Sadly, I'm not planning to go this year. I need to gather a lot of money and I have other hobbies. I live more than 2000 km from the Ring, so a trip over there means almost 5000 km and 3 days traveling. Anyway, if I go and I see that beauty I'´ll stop to say hello ;)

Sounds a little odd, but there is nothing better to me, in gaming terms, than driving the Nordschleife at either dusk or twilight ( into the pitch black late night ) in my Takata Dome NSX '03 or Honda S2000 LM Race Car, listening to dark ambient drone like this :

The 1 hour 33 minute running time helps matters :)

I zone out.

The track has EVERYthing one could want. As lame as it sounds, you become one with the car and track and the pure joy of driving around it relaxes and fill me with euphoria at times, depending on how well i am driving lol

I don't make great times, despite using the excellent car-tunes that have been posted on GTPlanet, but i don't mind. Just happy to hot lap until the sun comes up

I tried that!!!!

Downloaded that mix, fine tuned the perfect engine noise-effects/music ratio, set up very agressively my own interpretation of a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and immersed myself in a dreamy, very surreal zoned out experience for hours, and figured out that this way, I can squeeze out better lap times after the proper adjustment period... AMAZING!

Started to drive the Nordschleife for real back in 2006 With my modified Nissan 200SX S14A. Have approx 300 laps for real there, and late March this year I will join the RPR Racing Team and start to race a Renault Clio RSIII in the V3 class, RCN and VLN. Have done one Rad am Ring as well.. was hard and my best lap on the bicycle was one hour flat. Have driven various cars there, my Nissan 200SX with 340 BHP / 422 Nm on teh rear wheels, fast car ;-) and some rentals as Scirocco, VW GTi V, Suzukis Swifts, Opel Corsa OPC and now: my Alfa Romeo 159 SportWagon Ti diesel badger...black with norwegian plates. Will be training with the Clio on 21-22.03 and will be driving my Alfa round there on Sunday 23rd March. Anyone here that weekend ? , come over and say hello :-)

I have a proper Obsession with the Nürburgring ;-)

..and I am closer to 4000 laps than 3000 laps if I do summary of the GT4, GT5 and GT6 ;-)

Yes I have. Planning on going to the 24 hours of Nürburgring next year with a friend. Love driving the track in GT, so challenging and it never gets boring. Talked to a friend few days ago, he told me he already drove the Nordschleife 150 times in real life. I was like WTF!!! Made me VERY jealous haha ;) I'm definitely gonna drive the track myself one day.

Best track in the world!!!

Yes, incorrectly modelled aero would explain the extra high speed grip 👍

Pretty sure the F1 and XJ220 don't have any meaningful downforce in real life!

I've gotten better at the ring apparently, improving most of my tested machines by over 4 seconds

For example here are my most recent stock laps on GT5:

Ferrari Enzo Ferrari (Yes, it's driveable): 7:11 vs 7:19
Ford Ford GT '06: 7:13.1 vs 7:16
Ferrari 458 Italia: 7:13.9 vs 7:19
Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670 4 SV: 7:10 vs 7:13

Scheduled:

Fully broken in Lexus LFA '10 (time to beat is 7:15)
McLaren F1 once again (Time to beat is 7:02)

I decided to get out my happy pink and black S2000 LM racer, and stick a big turbo on it today. The result? An S2000 LM Turbo.

With a few tweaks here and there, and a new gearbox to try and use some of this car's (lack of) torque, this is going to be my new favorite 525-540pp car. It is surprisingly smooth and extremely stable, and the brakes are more than a little insane. I just hope everyone enjoys this car as much as I do.

I'm happy i could get a 6.51 lap out of this on the Nordschleife, but it's my first ever try AND it was with my limited driving skills, so i imagine a proper GT'er could get a much nicer time out of this tune.

Important Note: If anyone finds this tune worthwhile of taking on and improving, i defer all credit to the forum user Dragonthing, as it is based off of his previous tuning for GT5 ( linked in this post for reference, above ). I've merely tried to transpose it for GT6, because i could not find a GT6 tune of this car anywhere.

I find it a really fun drive and the 6.51 was me pushing it. Some real seat-of-the-pants moments, which were exciting and fun, rather than me struggling to keep the car under control. It is an S2000 after all, so is pretty damn stable from the off :)

I'd love for someone, with enough credits to throw away, to take what i have done and improve it, as it clearly does need it. The transmission and the downforce in particular.

Hope it's passable for a first try ! Remember, I am racing this ( to get a 6.51 ) with racing softs AND Traction Control set to 1, so it's quite an amateur tune by me ( not Dragonforce's original tune! ), so i've made it easy for myself, but perhaps one of you top quality racers on here, might be able to mess aroudn with it, to allow for a 'true' GT tune, meaning no ABS, TC etc... but i'm having a lot of fun with it as it is, at this moment :)

Those times are incredible to me, what tires do you use? I know that I'm a very mediocre driver, but still those times are FASSSSTTTT! :)

Not to take anything away from your time improvements between titles, but everyone has gotten faster in GT6 at any track because of the flaws in the physics. There's less drag and you accelerate to higher top speeds way faster than you ever could in GT6. You could take it as an improvement if not for the fact that a bit of testing shows that all cars are now capable of faster top speeds than the real life cars they are modeled on. In GT5 the top speed of all cars was very nearly spot on. Heck even I'm faster everywhere in GT6!

Dragonthing was/is a "she" not a he..

Sooner or later I'll get around to adapting this FITT Race Car Tuner Challenge S2000 LM Tune to GT6, but I've yet to get out of the 450PP ranks as far as tuning goes:lol:

BTW try getting rid of the camber altogether, it's slowing you down and are those toe settings for real?

The "blue line" if those of you are using that for a help, isn't correct "racing line". Some curves have odd cambers and the braking line, how to position your self on the track etc aren't always as you would "see" as a "solution" on an ordinary racetrack.

Here is a link to SportAutos Racing line ( It's not proper racing line on some corners, but is ment for Touristenfahrten - track day driving :

I am absolutely looking forward to your LM Race Car tune indeed ! Do you have an estimated release date or is it just done when it's done ? I'll keep checking back on your threads on the look out for it 👍

Question: I noticed the miles I'm driving in Arcade mode aren't counting on the car's odometer (stats). Do they count toward miles driven on the track (as shown on the stats page)?
Mileage on the track always counts.

Strangely, if you open your car settings after a lap in arcade mode, it will count the mileage from the last lap on your odometer.

Re-ring lapped the Veyron recently, 6:59= Sub 7 = Supercar A class

Also re-did the McLaren F1, 7:00 = Supercar A class?

Thanks for the reply ! :)

Oh sorry, I thought when you said you'd gotten faster and showed the different times you were showing GT5 vs GT6. Now I don't know what I even got that from! My bad. Still good times nonetheless. 👍

It's a general discussion of the Nordschleiife in the game. We can talk about laps just as much as how terrifying Flugplatz in a ZR-1 is I guess.

I think he's just pointing that out in case you want to do a more comprehensive comparison and participate in the boards - not that you can't post about it here.

I'm aware of the boards, I've been told about 4 times already but I remain on GT5's dynamics simulation. I'm only telling you kids about my recent exploits on the Nurburgringing Nurburgring.

For those of you who like to study the racing lines for the GP and Nordschleife her are two links, both which could be very helpful both for GT5 and GT6 and of course those of you who like to visit Nürburg and the Nürburging :-D ... and most likely get the pineapple price ;-)

Here is a link which shows videos and pictures on each section, filmed from car, front, rear etc, very helpful for those of you who want to get a more depth and visualise how the track actually is : http://www.nurburgringexplorer.com/..._Guide/Nurburgring_Nordschleife_Schwedenkreuz
