I wish John still went around these forums, he'd back me up. I'm too scared to even get broadband!! I'm so scared! Ignorant also.
One of my neighbors just bought a brand new Navigator. It's pretty nice, but I see no real improvement over the last one, except for the chrome wheels.
I'm going with my girlfriend to Williamsburg, Virginia from December 20 to December 23, so Talentless be warned, I'll find you. Fackin' grrr!
Getting back to AOL, let me say that I have owned each AOL except seven since 3.0 and I've absolutely loved it. I've got no real problems (No PM's for a few days until it automatically corrects itself? What a loss.
) and it's relatively cheap. Nothing could get me to switch.
Are the chrome wheelzzz 1337????
Seriously M5Power, you have to consider what you're paying for and what you're getting.
Personally, I want a pipe to the internet, and then I want to be left alone. I don't want to look at some ISP's content, and I never really got into the whole ISP Portal thing.
Fundamentally, AOL spends a lot more on advertising and content provision than other ISPs, so are YOU getting value for money? Would you rather your cash was put into a faster infrastructure for example? I used to be with UUNET, because they spent all their money on bandwidth, and virtually all their customers were recommended by other customers. I want speed and reliability, and I don't want anything else.
My ISP gives me 50MB web space and 5 mailboxes. Amount of web space in use? 0%. Amount of mailboxes in use? 2. But they only receive ISP admin messages. For me, it's all about the provision of bandwidth.
If you're happy with your service, stay where you are, but consider that if you're not using the AOL content, then you may do better spending your dollars on a company that's not wasting them on 'free' CDs and other advertising.
