If it's just the data, you could try deleting it all under "installed game data" and reinstalling it. Won't affect your game save. That file is in your "PS3 save games" folder. Always back up your save to a USB stick just in case it ever gets corrupted or damaged. I usually make 3-4 copies a day to different drives just to be sure it's never gone. If stuff starts going wonky from the system being shut down wrong you can always do the system's file restore:

1. Start with having the system in standby (redlight is on)

2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.

3. Press and hold the power button again and keep holding, it will beep as it turns on and then it will double beep. When you hear the double beeps immediately take your finger off the power button (if your system turns off before you get a double beep just try again and hold the button, it should double beep the 2nd time you try)

4. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button

You will now have a screen with these options :

1. Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
2. Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
CHOOSE THIS ONE 3.Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
4. Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
5. Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
6. System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

Make sure to choose option 3. The other ones will wipe all data and/or reformat the hard drive.
After this, it is going to restart and bring up a screen reading something like “you have Corrupted System Data. Your PS will now replace this data” Then you choose continue and that should be it.

Ok ill give it a go thanks. Earlier i restarted a new game and got to a spec level 7 shall i delete that ?

Yes it is possible to restore it without losing anything. I restored mine like 4 times. Try this, with the system off and the power cord plugged in the power light should be red.Press and hold the power button until it turns green and go back to red. You should hear one beep. I emphasize press and hold don't release until it goes back off with the light red. Do the same thing again this time you should hear the beep twice. The light must go back red again when you press and hold like the first time. Turn it on now like you normally would and it should work now. If it don't start up like normal now, repeat the process again. Remember one thing, I did it 4 tmes before.

Ill try your idea but earlier tried the hidden PS3 menu thing like someone else said and selected the 3rd and it failed.

That's normal. It keeps crashing for me on Cracked. Just (If possible) Turn Javascript off.

xXGJBSTARXx, the suggestion I give you is the way to open the hidden menu. You don't want the hidden menu in this case you want it to start like normal again so if the hidden menu comes up repeat the instructions again until it start like normal. One out of the 4 times I restored my system the hidden menu came up and I did what I wrote once more and it started like normal.

Sorry people but none of these solutions are working. Would Sony help if i was to call them up?
It just says it will take 2-3hours to fix the data and then it goes to 100% and starts normal and is still corrupt

The Restore File System option is just a place holder imo. I had so many troubles with my 2 PS3s already and it NEVER fixed anything. Just skip the error message where it says takes 2-3 hours to fix the data blablabla with the circle button and shot the system down. Then start it the normal way.

xXGYBSTARXx: I went through all of this as well and nothing worked but it's worth trying. Replacing my drive was the only fix in my case. It couldn't hurt to call Sony. If you are within warranty you could probably get a replacement.

Ok i just wish Playstations didnt do this because my xbox 360 doesnt.

I know what you mean. XBOX software is a lot more stable. PS3 seems to be really touchy when it comes to the entire system getting completely messed up due to any kind of power failure. Since the XBOX is basically Windows, the most it would do is ruin your save. PS3 should be a lot more stable in this regard.

I had the same problem too five times and I have phoned Sony every time i received a new one each time so I am well impressed on Sonys part.
