I would like a proper seat / stand, but due to limited space and most of them being way too expensive for me, I came up with a different idea. I have been working on this in my spare time this summer. Take a look and see what you think. I will give it a go tonight.

I dont really like the logitech center.
I've never been one for lap rigs (I had a POS Mad Catz MC2 for Dreamcast at one point), but that is really nice work. Depending on how testing goes you may want to consider retention straps too.
Kind of forgot about this. I have been using this set up for quite a while. It all works well! I am sure a seat rig is more desirable but for the space I have available this was my option. Quite happy with it. No retention straps necessary either.
