My ultimate GT5 Pleasure

Now I know many people on here love/hate GT5 for different reasons. For those who enjoy the game, what is the one thing that gives you the most joy when playing?

For me, it's buying a car(especially a premium version) and taking it to the Nurburgring. I make no modifications to the car whatsoever so it's pretty much bone stock and see how it does on the track. What's even more satisfying is when I have a premium car, I turn off all of the data on screen and go into cockpit view to further immerse myself. With my setup, it almost feels like i'm driving the real thing. I then go into Manual H-Pattern mode with my G25(I usually use the paddles to shift) with the clutch to top it off.

After all is said and done, I just sit back and watch my replay. I just love seeing how the stock suspension is trying to cope in the Nurburgring when pushing the car to its maximum.

I could pretty much do this all day without a worry on how i'm so far to level 30 in my ASPEC or how everyone has Gold in all the events, etc. In other words, there's really no obligation for me to finish the game...I friggin love driving.

what about you guys?

Tuning.

Not being able to beat a challenge with a stock set-up, coming to GT Planet and trying different tunes, and beating the challenge at hand.

When I can drive the cars in the game that I actually want.
I think I've got enough to keep me busy. 500 should do for a while. I still need 500 more. :(
 
Mine is collecting race cars, max them out and do time trials on the Indy track.

Love to compare, tweak, tune and try them.

Must say at the moment I am using the game as a 'ring' simulator. I just like buying cars in UCD to bang around the place untuned and as they come. If GT5 was basically this one track I'd be happy.
 
Online, I love how the car is harder to drive I find it more realistic, I love how you start on cold tyres and how the fuel load effects you. Sure it isn't perfect and sure I wish cars had more realistic fuel loads but I wish more than that the tyres and fuel did the same thing in A-spec.

I didn't even notice that. I'll keep that in mind for the next time.



And mekonrider, I agree whole-heartedly. If GT5 came only with all iterations of the Nurburgring, and the cars, i'd still be a happy man.
 
Get a car I like, put decent settings on it (which doesn't mean maxing it's power or whatever, I usually just throw sport softs and an oil change at it and adjust whatever is adjustable) and hotlap it on the 'Ring.
Pushing further and further while possibly improving the car's setup (suspension settings etc.) is what keeps me going. Getting closer and closer to a cars true limits feels just so satisfying.
 
Spending hours chasing tenths on a track like Tsukuba, or finally having enough cash to buy that car you have been drooling over since the game came out.

I love collecting cars, but one of the greatest and scariest thing I've done is an online race with some friends on the Nurburging 24h curcit at night in the rain with Nascar stock cars. The ring can be scary enough in the day, try it with out at night headlight or windscreen whippers.
 
I love tearing cars around the ring too.

Something I also enjoy is taking a go kart for a lap around the change time version of the ring. By the end of the first lap, it's so dark that you can't see anything. No light at all. I like trying to best my time, without the lap being disqualified.
 
My best experiences all involve Picking up a great, weird find from the UCD that most people don't even know exist.
Then tuning it, adding a big turbo and listening to online "drifters" shocked exclamations as I slide past in a 30 year old Silvia, or a Lexus Wagon, or even a pink ruf r2000 (Porsche boxster body)
 
So far, it's been figuring out the Nürburgring in the Lotus Elise from seasonal event #3. It was my first time on that track, and first time driving that car, so figuring out how to keep it on the road was the first part. Then came tuning it a little bit (up to ~220 bhp) and undressing it a bit (down to ~810 kg). Then, with this new power and weight loss, figuring out how the hell to keep it on the road again! After about 10 tries, I managed to pass the leader in the 4th lap. That moment was freaking sweet.

With the money I earned from that challenge, I bought myself the premium '07 GT-R. And had myself another ultimate pleasure on the Cape Ring.

Same here. I'm spending almost all my time grinding to collect Standards from the Used Lot and tuning them to different x00 HP levels.

But my other pleasure, just as intense if not a bit more so, is to take my cars to two tracks and time them.

Indianapolis Road Course: stock cars with Comfort Medium tires, to re-experience the Time Trial demo - which is almost exactly the same

Cape Ring Full: cars "race modded" to 400hp +/- on Racing Medium tires
 
Almost exactly what you list in the opening post, lator-illa. Buy new car, do an oil change, and head to the Green Hell. All aids off, except ABS if it's a modern car, HUD off, and do a lap or two.

I'm generally pretty garbage at tuning, so I get more fun out of pushing the setup that's given to me to its limits, as opposed to tweaking and moving those goal-posts around. It's fun knowing that I can't make a change to cut time, that it's all down to my driving and that alone 👍
