N/A Silvias>>>>Turbo Silvias (Q's>>>K's)

Sweat it not Brother. Any questions, feel free to forward them to my email or PM's. Like always, I have no qualms with going out of my way to assist fellow Nissan folk.

SR20DE: 160ps@6400 r.p.m. (later models 165ps)
188Nm@4800 r.p.m.
KA24DE: 155ps@5600 r.p.m.
160Nm@440 0r.p.m.

I know where my money would be going.

In GT4, the SR20DE powered Q's vehicles show different numbers:

'91 Silvia Q's (S13)
Power: 138HP/8100rpm
Torque: 131.63ft.lb/7000rpm

'93 Silvia Q's Aero (S14)
Power: 157HP/7500rpm
Torque: 138.87ft.lb/4800rpm

'99 Silvia Spec S Aero (S15)
Power: 162HP/6400rpm
Torque: 141.76ft.lb/4800rpm

Most of us Nissan folk use Red Line

I ordered 2 quarts today... Thanks again...

Yep... Most SR20DE's have around 140hp... Only the later models, with variable valve timing, had the extra torque... non VVT SR20DE, vs. the KA24DE (which is the only fair comparison), the KA24DE comes out on top... However, the KA24DE is heavier than the SR20DE, so that does something to get closer to an even draw... Still, I would go for the KA24DE, as it offers more bang for the buck...

Actually, in Silvias anyway only the S13 didn't have VVT and SR20 S13s are a lot less common than the CA18s. From 1993 and the introduction of the S14 all SR20 powered Silvias have had VVT. The Later model 180sx variant S13s still used the non-VVT SR20 but yet again these are nowhere near as common as S14 Silvias. Who knows why they were still called 180sx's when they had 2 litre engines? Although they were sold new here as 200sx's but later model 200sx's here were S14/S15 Silvias with the VVT SR20. In regards to bang for buck, I can't comment as I've never driven a 240sx and I don't think they were avaliable here so it's not likely I'd ever get a chance to drive one.

On a slightly related note, S14 Q's silvias were also avaliable with factory LSD's and 5 stud wheels. I'm unsure if the model with the extra features also had upgraded brakes or not. Next time my friend comes over I'll take a look.

I don't know why you're telling me all this... I am well aware of the history of the engine... Non VVT SR20DE's are not hard to find... Nevertheless, my point is, you cannot compare a VVT engine with a non VVT engine... Therefore, you can only compare the KA24DE (no VVT) with the non VVT SR20DE's... In comparing the two, the KA24DE comes out on top, in every way... That's all I'm saying...

S13's came with an LSD as well... Not 5 stud wheels (which I could really care less about), but they did have LSD's (at least some models)... The USDM 240SX's all have open differentials, besides the HICAS models (only hatch), if I'm not mistaken...

Back on topic... I have been playing around with my S14 Q's, and it drifts a treat fully tuned on N2's... I'm lovin' it... Great fun...

HICAS definately has a learning curve and though it has no place on a drift car, it's actually pretty cool.

That is what I am to understand... My S13 is primarily used for drifting, so I am glad it does not have the HICAS system... Although, if I were to use my car for autocross, I wouldn't mind having such a system...

Delphic Reason, did 240sx's come factory with that popup headlight front or did you convert it? Looks pretty cool, is it the same front as JDM 180sx's?

All USDM S13's have the Zenki (early model) or Chuki (mid model, like mine) 180sx nose... They are typically refered to as a "One-Via" (opposite of Sileighty)... They have One-Via's in Japan as well, if I'm not mistaken...

;)

I'm pretty sure there were never any 'stock' onevia's in Japan. The sil-eighty became popular because the silva front end was cheaper to replace than the 180 front end. This is the same reason why onevia's are seldom seen in Japan.

Yea, I know what Onevias are but I'm pretty sure they were only ever conversions (obviously except the USDM ones). I've seen the odd one around but it doesn't seem to be a particularly popular conversion here as Silvias are a lot more common than 180sxs. Sileighty conversions are a lot more popular, my friend's brother has got one sitting in bits in his garage at the moment awaiting a manual gearbox and possibly a SR20det (currently a CA18det) and a 2 tone paintjob.

From what I've seen Onevias look popular in drifting in Australia. There were quite a few of them in their competition thing, can't remember what it's called. Also, there were a few Strawberries, S13 Silvias with S15 front clips.

Most of the Silvia drift cars here in D1NZ are just normal S13s. Though there's some nice late model 180sxs and a few S14 and 15s. Cefiros, Laurels and Skylines are also the go here too. I really hope they put Cefiros and Laurels in GT5 since they put in a few RWD 4 door Toyotas.

s14 q's is very cool. i like the sound. did those have ka24de engines in them? also does anyone else get a weird hood cam in that car?? mines further away than the k's s14. i switched back to the k's though, just cuz they had that cool blue when i was in the used shop, and it looks awesome with my used rims (mazda deep dish gold 5-spoke with machined silver lip)

All the silvia's in the S series have sr20det's in them, because there from japan and the american version has the ka's. usually in really life the turners here usually change the ka for the sr20dett because in a stock form it already starts out with 205-225 hp depending on what year u want....i would be cool to have engine swaps but its cool to drive the real thing....

...i am one of those people with a swap, its too bad they werent originally offered over here in the U.S. But Doing the swap myself was a good learning process. I also thought about the CA18det, for the stronger block, but i got a deal on the Sr20det i couldnt pass up. For the WHP goals im going for (330-350whp) The sr20det is more than adequite and capable. Plus 240sx/sr20det's are blowing up here in the states (good for parts, bad for people like me to get their car stolen). But if u wanna be real cool go for an RB26DeT with Rb25det Tranny. Skyline Powered 240=BEAST MUAHAHAHAHA.

-Sorry off-topic :dunce:

Man I didn't know there's so much difference in the Sylvia... Shoot. I've been buying Qs and so on...:S Anyone wanna educate me on this? I know now that J, Q, K stands for different grade of engine? SO I should be going for Ks rite???? *confused*
