So I apologize for the poppy beat on this one, but if you know the soundtrack you should recognize it. So what movie is this the theme of???

You'll have to change the extension from .txt to .mid :)

Mods - if I just broke some kind of rules with this, feel free to shut down this thread.

Thanks,
Dan

Ok, maybe that one was too hard. Let's try this one... I'll give away the answer to the first one eventually - after more people have had a chance.

Again, you have to change the .txt to a .mid.

Not exactly, but you're right - I does sound military. The movie deals with something related to the military.

I'm not sure how to A)Obtain the music samples or B)Post them here. I can't edit music on my computer, and besides, it took like 3 days for anyone to even tell me I got the right answer, so the thread moves way too slow and it looks like only 2 or 3 people are interested in it. Sorry to say, because I love movie soundtracks and this could be a really cool thread, but I think it's not going to work... :(

Ok, here's another one. This one is a peice of cake. Again, change the extension to .mid.

I was out of town all weekend.

From what I've gathered usually the way these threads work is that you know you've got the right answer so you post a follow up immediately. That's not necessary though because I'll keep coming with the music.

I'm still looking at how to split mp3's so that I can post bits of the real orchestrated versions.

I'm not sure how to A)Obtain the music samples or B)Post them here.

To get the midi files it's a peice of cake. Just type midi and the name of the movie and soundtracks into google and up will pop like a dozen pages with midi versions of that movie. Then check them out to make sure they sound remotely like the movie. In order to post them you have to change the file extension to one of the accepted formats before you upload. I haven't been doing any music editing.

This is an awesome idea for a thread. Don't let it die!

I'll try to come up with some of my own over the weekend :D Although they'll be stolen from DVDs, rather than played. Hey, if I'm feeling good I might steal my own "Dances With Wolves" - the film was crap, but our version of the music was really quite good :D

Thank you :) I'm really hoping that more threads like this pop up.

John Berry is a badass.

Ok, next tune!

Once again, I apologize for the fact that it's a midi - I still haven't gotten around to finding a way to split mp3's.

Rename the extension to .mid

Edit: There are two themes from this movie in this midi file but it's a little repetetive. If you get sick of the first theme, skip roughly halfway through the file for the second one.

I can't seem to split mp3's effectively enough. I don't have a problem splitting them but for 100 kb I get 6 seconds of music. For 140 kb it's 9 seconds. That's not really enough to identify the song from. Also, I'm not sure if it's acceptible use for the message board since if someone posted a bunch of split files it would be effectively like sharing mp3s.

Also since the file size is larger I'd run out of total space for attachments. Anyway I think I'm going to have to stick with midi files. They've been working pretty well anyway.

Its familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is...

The Fifth Element? Nah...

Conan the Barbarian? Nope...

I've heard it before, that's for sure.

The movie was released in 1962 and features this music prominently in long scenes without dialogue.

Axel Foley's theme from Beverly Hills Cop (1,2,or 3). I'll try posting one of my own: tell me if it works or not...

Also turn your volume up a bit, because it's rather quiet:

You had me going there for a while. I kept thinking, it's got to be some movie about Africa!!! Some kind of rainforesty movie. Then it came to me all the sudden.

Rain Man!

It sounded so familiar it was driving me nuts, but I figured it would come eventually.

Good one. Here's mine.
