That catch fence.
2,500 lb(?) metal ball skidding against it at 100+ MPH.

That catch fence deserves a medal.
As does the safer barriers.

Just getting caught up on the truck race. Man that #32 truck crash was really similar to Danica's crash yesterday, but totally more violent.

Yeah just saw that one. Looks like they have some repairs to make to the fence in the morning.

I just realized this is my 10th year following NASCAR!!!

I've cheered for Ryan Newman for every one as well.👍

Has there been any rule changes and modifications to the cars for Nationwide?
I'm curious if they will be as loose as these trucks (and the Sprint Cup are currently).

From what I heard the ESPN commentators say today during qualifying, there have been no rules changes to the Nationwide cars, meaning the "tandem" drafting is still going to be the way to go. But from what I've noticed this past week with the return to pack racing, the new style of drafting seems to be "push the crap out of the car in front of me even though we could wreck", which is causing a lot of accidents in both Sprint Cup and the Truck series. I have a bad feeling after seeing the Truck race which turned into a crashfest at the end and produced two savage wrecks that there will be an even worse crash on Sunday that may either injure or even kill somebody. :nervous: By the way, congratulations to Danica Patrick for winning her first career pole and to John King for winning his first CWTS race! 👍

I doubt that. Those cars are probably one of the safest places to be on earth.
I'd want to be in one of those when the world ends.

Hehe. They're like teh cockaroaches of motorsports.

True. But there's still that chance of something bizarre happening that the car is not engineered for..... I just don't like what I'm seeing with this hybrid push/bump drafting.

Well, there's always going to be holes in the safety net that only the drivers can brace themselves for if they think they're heading right into one.

Hopefully, NASCAR teaches them the right procedures if they find themselves in such a situation.

At any moment in any racing series, something totally bizarre can happen. At least with NASCAR, it would take something catastrophically massive to cause serious harm to any driver.

I guess SPEED has hit a new low for programming. "Countdown to UFC".

*Facepalm*

They make one postive step forward with V8 Supercars, then move back two steps with that. It really less Speed TV, more Fox with a new name:indiff:

I originally thought it was a joke that popped up on twitter because Speed does countdowns for nearly everything, but then I realized it was tweeted by Speed.

Doesn't FOX own SPEED?

Yep. Thats basically the point I'm making. If you'll notice during races, they'll show adverts for stuff(not even racing related) on Fox, not on Speed.

After doing a little reading online, while I don't watch NASCAR Trucks much at all, I want to see Nelson Piquet Jr. win a race (or at least become a consistent high finisher). Maybe it's that name of Piquet. However, you have to do be pretty good if you can place in the Top 10 or near the Top 10 in about 30% of your races all-time in one series. He still had a pretty good run tonight at Daytona despite finishing 19th(?).

All congratulations to John King for his Trucks win. Not just to represent the brotherhood of guys named John or Jon :), but for surviving this race. You survive Daytona rather than win.

Piquet was involved in that last last lap wreck that had Coulter colliding with the catch fence. Otherwise he was top-10 all night.

I missed the race the first time around, so I'm about to watch the rerun now.

I was watching the trucks until 3am last night, was chearing on Piquet but he got forced onto the high lane at one of the cautions and lost 20 places with one small error, appart from that he and his whole team did well. Paludo had a lucky escape from a huge wreck.

Holy crap, mine too! Time flies.

I rooted for Jeff Gordon until '09, and then I started rooting for Allmendinger.

LETS GO AUSTIN DILLON #3!!!!!!!!!!! Damn it's nice to see that black number #3 back out there!!!

With Mark Martin in something of a retirement, I'm going to have to find someone else to follow.

AJ Allmendinger, Jeff Gordon, Juan Montoya, and Marcos Ambrose are the leading candidates. I may just cheer for all four

For UK Sky guys, the full nationwide season is live on Motors TV UK.

Let's boost TV views for Motors TV. Hopefully they'll get Nascar Sprint Cup coverage in a few years.
