My point is that they're all built the same.

Again though, it was only one car. One car having a problem hardly means all of them have a problem. Now if it was two cars or more like what happened last year at Miami with two fords with engines from Roush, then you'd have a legitimate concern.

Someone is reluctantly going to have to be the leader on the last lap. There's no way they will win the race unless something happens.

You can have two engines built the same but differ by up to 50hp.

Yes but history tells me such a thing can happen. I remember plenty of races where there were multiple engine failures from one team.

Well....if they are not reading correctly, the car could be running hot and they wouldn't know it. Overheat = BOOM.

Wouldn't we see steam first?

How does that result in a blown engine?

They changed the cooling system, so cars won't get enough air and overheat in the tandem draft, he didn't know he needed to back off.

Garage gossip was that the Fords would heat up faster than the Chevy's. What do you guys think? I think Ford will hold out.

*Facepalm*.

The engine heats up, the gauge isn't reading properly, and the engine blows because the driver doesn't know it's time to pull more air into it.

My picks: Stewart, Edwards, Harvick, are still in it. Yay.
Will have to wait till lap 175 or so to see who has got a shot at it.

But what about steam?

Shows how much I know. Good thing we learn about engines in Auto tomorrow.

Jeff's car wasn't overheating. When he was behind Biffle, he couldn't gain the speed needed to help Biffle get to the front of the pack. then when Burton got behind Biffle, they pulled away and Jeff stayed where he was, even though he was right behind them to start with.

They race harder than they should because their meter says the engine is fine, when the engine's actually running at crazy temps.

They'll drive more conservatively if the engine's running high temps.

Yes I know but like I've said two other times, don't they steam first? We've seen a lot of that this weekend?

It could be running just above the damage threshold but below the steam point. Run like that for too long and boom.

Edit:^ lol

They have new meters for oil temp/pressure, water temp/pressure, and the numbers on the dials go red when it's overheating. Then they flash. Then the world goes boom.

Gordon's explaination should be interesting.

I know this is only the beginning of the year and what i'm saying has little to do with this race but I keep thinking that Jeff Gordon isn't going to make the chase. More than likely he will but I can't get that awkward feeling out of my gut.

& at Truex to Hamlin -
