What happened to Kahne?
Looks like Kahne tried passing Kenseth on the outside at T2. Took the air off of Kenseth, which caused him to smash the wall. Kahne didn't' hit as hard, but both suffered.

So now that the race is over, what are your thoughts on the 2013 Charger:

I can't be the only one unable to understand why the top Grille is not functional.

Keeps the radiator, and brake duct hoses lower. Also much easier to tape up that wide flat grill on the bottom.

According to the story on Autoblog, Dodge is talking with a few teams and could have an announcement by summer.

Great news, as I would hate to not see this great looking car on the track.

I'm really going to miss Penske though...

I can't tell, is the side actually indented like the street car or is it a decal?

I saw the new Ford up close at Daytona, and the side was contoured. I suspect the Dodge is the same.

The sides are actually indented.

I've never heard that many cheers for Stewart after a win before, it seems fans have finally recognized him as the true champion that he is.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Kurt Busch, during post-race interviews, had an incident with a water bottle and the media?

There was a quick mention of it on WindTunnel last night, but aside from that I can't find any mention of such an incident anywhere.

I think going to phoenix racing was a mistake, he's wrecked like every other weekend including that nationwide race at Daytona.

But how many of those have been his fault?

Yesterday he had a tire go flat on him. Daytona 500, he got caught up in that lap 2 crash that was not his fault.

The Nationwide race is the blame of his spotter telling him what to do instead of telling him what is going on around him.

Could be just speculation, but he's had issues with the media in the past.

Since we're on the subject of Kurt, I stumbled upon this last night. Quite interesting.

I can't believe I just watched that whole thing.

Anyways, I just wanted to (based on the first three races and last season, premature I know) make my predictions for the chase contenders this year.

Jimmie Johnson
Tony Stewart
Denny Hamlin
Carl Edwards
Matt Kenseth
Greg Biffle
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Brad Keselowski
Jeff Gordon
Kevin Harvick
Kyle Busch

For the twelfth spot however, I can't lock down any one driver at this moment. I'll guess that it'll more than likely come down to Paul Menard, Jamie McMurray, Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano and Ryan Newman though. Again, this is based off last years performance combined with the first three races this year.

I think there's going to be a driver vying for that wildcard spot that will be totally underestimated. ;)

My Chase predictions.

1.Jeff Gordon (SEVEN-TIME CHAMPION '12, '13, '15)
2.Tony Stewart (Can't count out ol' 3-Time)
3.Denny Hamlin (He'll make the chase, but lets hope he doesn't have a repeat of his horrible 2011 season)
4.Carl Edwards (Winning one race doesn't win Championships anymore)
5.Matt Kenseth (Again, winning one race like he did in 03' doesn't win championships anymore)
6.Joey Logano (if he continues to be consistent)
7.Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Probably won't win a race, but he'll likely make the chase.)
8.Brad Keselowski (Definitely a title contender)
9.Kevin Harvick (He'll win races, make the chase, but probably won't win the championship.)
10.Kyle Busch (He's in the same boat as Harvick)
11.Jimmie Johnson (Do I really have say anything?)
12.Clint Bowyer (He looks pretty strong in Joe Gibbs equipment)

Chase Champion = Jeff Gordon

I don't know what's funnier, Jeff Gordon winning, JJ finishing 11th, or Bowyer switching teams mid-season to drive for JGR.

MWR gets their Chassis & Engines from Joe Gibbs Racing.

EDIT: And that list of mine isn't predicting the final standings of the chase. It's pretty inevitable that Johnson will finish in the top 5.

Are you sure?

Dude, knowing Jimmie Johnson he'll excel in this year's chase.

Again my Chase predictions.

1.Jeff Gordon (FUTURE SEVEN-TIME CHAMPION '12, '13, '15)
2.Tony Stewart (Can't count out ol' 3-Time)

12.Clint Bowyer (He looks pretty strong in Joe Gibbs equipment)

Chase Champion = Jeff Gordon

The first part is definitely not true. MWR makes their own cars, and they get their engines from TRD. JGR stopped producing their own engines, opting to also get their engines built by TRD, then fine-tuning them in-house at JGR.

The second part doesn't make sense, considering you labeled the post as your "Chase predictions" and then numbered the list.

I really want Kahne to make it this year - I think once he gets into a rhythm things will hopefully improve and he can shine to his full potential. Beyond that, I think Johnson, Biffle, Edwards, Kyle Busch, Hamlin, Stewart, and Keselowski will be virtual locks. Gordon, Kenseth, and Junior will probably make it if they avoid anything catastrophic. And then those final few sports are going to be very hard to predict - there are so many possibilities - it's too early to call right now in my opinion.

Also, I'm loving the look of Dodge's new cup car - I REALLY hope they find someone half-decent to drive it. I think Penske is mistaken in leaving Dodge - they're as fast as any other team at any given time, and you can tell Keselowski is not too happy about it - methinks he's gonna miss Dodge...

Well actually TRD and Joe Gibbs merged operations to produce top quality motors for Toyota based teams in Nascar. And no, I numbered the list on who has the greatest chance of making the chase, and biasedly put Jeff on the top of that list. lol

BTW, did you guys hear about the driver who hit a coyote with a Joe Gibbs powered Toyota? The pictures are gruesome! http://www.totalprosports.com/2009/08/13/nascar-driver-hits-coyote-at-190-mph-pictures/

Was actually three years ago if I recall. Brad Coleman was testing a cup car when it happened.
