I'm Stewart fan ALSO if don't already know. And he will come back, he just needs to win a few races before the chase.

Pick a driver and stick with him. NOBODY likes a bandwagon fan.

Final note for today. On the outro highlights, the most exciting clip was the dog on the skateboard.

Confirmed: Dog on skateboard is a more interesting race than California Speedway.

I'd like to see NASCAR move their California Speedway race to Laguna Seca but I doubt that would happen.

Seeing a dog on a skateboard for 2.5 hours would be boring. Unless... they make a race out of it and run 50 dogs!

Wait, no, that might be a bit odd.

OK, I'm happy to admit that this was possibly aimed at me but as a European I have zero exposure to Nascar but I am willing to learn.

That is handsome of you - Welcome to the club!

That may have probably been one of the most dismal 'first' races to watch - you are not at fault for being disappointed. But trying to judge the whole series (let alone the amount of 'brain' behind the strategies of brawn) will not give you a true picture of the philosophies driving this experience.

Try to return next week for Martinsville - bumping and grinding galore and one of the best tracks for speedy automotive retaliation. Watch the mayhem at Talladega and then right after that Darlington as they battle not only the track but Danica Patrick. On to Pocono - a track with only 3 turns - a monster. And then soon after that back to Daytona.. . . It's week after week of variables, and great racing.

I'm glad NASCAR called it quits quick: it's not so much a win that matters as safety first - a NASCAR priority in all they do.

Well Gordon can't always win, Maybe you should re-watch 95-97 seasons to get that nostalgia, cause that Gordon isn't coming back.

I loved those 'golden' Gordon years. How can one forget that Triple Crown?

I'm not even a Gordon fan, but there's no way you can count him out of the Chase. Regardless of points, you can still get in on wins, and I thinks he's more than capable of 2 wins this year. That's all it took last year.

Who counted him out? He's just not as fast or consistent and the "rainbow warrior" days. We all know good and well how you can get into the chase. I just don't plan to see Gordon winning all that much if at all. I'll eat my words though if he does.

Last few season have shown me why not to expect that much from Gordon as far as the win column goes.

Guy's don't forget, SHR is affiliated with Hendrick Motorsports. Just throwing it out there...

Jeff is definitely passed his prime.

But, Hendrick Motorsports as a whole seems to be off.

not really

johnson and jr have been running great and so has gordon but he has had some bad luck

hard to tell how well kahne is actually running because he always seems to wreck

Kasey seems to be back in his Sort of Rookie/Sophomore phase where he is very quick but never has the luck to pull it off.

The race was boring?

NASCAR has some of the most spoiled fans. Throw a debri caution, get criticized. Don't throw a debri caution, get criticized for too long of a green run.

500 mile race? Too long, shorten to 400 miles. Still too long.

lol, I remember when Dover was a 500 mile race. I wonder what the fans of today would think of that. Nobody ever complained about 500 miles at Pocono for years...until recently.

I wonder why? Maybe because everything is so sped up today, people expect everything to be at their fingertips instantly. Want to know about silk worms? Back in the day you had to get in your car and drive to the library and look them up. Today, just a few clicks and keyboard presses and boom, it's there.

I'm not saying the race was great. I just think people expect too much week in and week out. I mean, NASCAR is closer then it's ever been. It's on pace for another season where you get 15 or so different winners. You got double file restarts.

The product is pretty good. Why get so hateful over one subpar race?

Finally watched it... I agree with earth.

Not the most thrilling of races by NASCAR standards, it was "different" but a good one nevertheless IMO.

Great job by Smoke, to me he was clearly on a mission to be in #1 position in time before the rain, he worked hard all the way, got there and held it past mid-race.

They were all racing against time to get 100 laps before the rain, no one wanted a delay that takes away precious time between events, and that made it a sprint for #1. No yellows for so long, no contacts. That was not unintentional.

Well said, Earth. You put it clearly - it’s not about instant gratification. Patience plays a large part in this game.

Travis Pastrana has a new deal with Dodge for the Global Rallycross Championship. Probably unrelated but might it be possible that Dodge is looking at MWR for their team next season?

I thought they had a solid deal with Joe Gibbs racing? That reminds me, I hope EGR stays with Chevy. I can understand Richard Petty Motorsports going back to Dodge since they have bigger ties with Dodge, even Chip Ganassi before they merged with DEI, but everyone forgets it is called EARNHARDT-Ganassi Racing. Switching to Dodge will make a TON of Dale Earnhardt fans very unhappy with Chip Ganassi. Plus you can't forget Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies, everybody knows what they do.

AS in I didn't count him out, you know all that text that followed after the initial question I posed. If you're counting anyone out after race 5 then they must have already forgotten about last year.

I don't know if it's a lack of reading comprehension, maybe you're mistaking usernames, maybe you just don't know what Tl;dr means, but regardless, you should quit while you're behind, because you are clearly confused.

Maybe if I put it all in chronological order you can follow along?

I've already given up the thought of Gordon being in the chase this year.
