The only solace is that it wasn't the real deal. Still... :yuck:

BTW, anyone else surprised that Newman finished a race at Daytona without crashing?

He's somewhat more comfortable around Daytona in the spring with a win in the 500 back in '08. Talladega and the Coke Zero 400 seem to bite him most.

Love or loathe him. You cannot deny his racing talent. Absolute legend.

You can't be a legend without a championship. He'll still never win one.

Well he's won Nationwide so that's a Championship.

Depends how you define a legend.

So has David Green and Randy LaJoie and Brian Vickers. doesn't mean anything.

He means the one that actually counts: The Cup Championship

That race left me worried about how the 500 will go down.

NASCAR will probably do something to fix that. Maybe ban bump drafting on corners. Plus why worry about the 500? The Gatorade Duels are before that.

That was a awesome race tonight. Great driving by number 18. I was hoping Jeff Gordon would win but there went that. Can't wait to see the 500!

I can imagine IF GT5 updates with the 2012 cars:
1) Who will take Vickers' place? If at all.
2) Will it be easier to wreck like in the shootout? :P

Doesn't help that the bodies are hung on the car in a way that they are skewed to the left so they can manipulate the right side of the spoiler to take it out of the air.

They will figure something out.

NASCAR online would be mad if the cars would spin that easy. I would think the power curve would be different with the fuel injection.

Since Red Bull doesn't exist anymore, they'd probably replace it with a different car altogether.

Hope they do add the 2012 cars to GT5.

So weighing it up, after tonight do you reckon banning communication and trying to stop tandem drafting were good ideas?

Yes to the tandem. Undecided on the first.

Why? They have old LeMans cars in the game, no reason they couldn't keep what they have now and just add to it.

I think a lot of that could have been avoided if the drivers could have talked to each other, I think they may have taken it a bit too far.

tandem = never liked it.
communication = I don't think that made a "huge" difference, maybe in that one crash through the tri-oval.

Not saying they would remove them. But to have 11 cars for the '12 season like they have had for '10 and '11, something from the '12 season would have to be added in to replace the now defunct team.

Maybe an MWR car, perhaps Truex Jr's Napa car.

That's a good possibility, or to keep Allmendinger in the game by putting the 22 in and finally having a Dodge in the mix.

I'd like a slightly larger variety of cars to choose from. SuperGT category has tons, but NASCAR, WRC and DTM are lacking compared to it.

Since Vickers is the only driver out of the lineup, he would be the only one to be replaced with something different. All the while, Allmendinger would be retained and the only change would be the 22 car since its currently what he drives.

They'd have to add BK, not only for the fact he's the bawss, but because the Blue Duece.

Why limit ourselves to the same 11 drivers over and over? Do we really need 3 versions of all the guys already in the game? We should be demanding more different drivers and cars in the game, to add variety.

Let's add the Childress cars (27, 29, 31), more Roush Cars (16, 17), the Penske Dodges (2, 22), the MWR cars (15, 55, 56), the Wood Brothers car (21), the other RPM car (9), and the other EGR car (1).

Wouldn't that be better?
