My god...

I have to ask though, why would they be standing around in a parking lot when there is a severe thunderstorm warning? Why didn't they get into their cars rather than just standing around? Unless I read that wrong.

RIP :(

I can't believe it happened either. They had plenty of warning about the weather that was approaching.

What a tragedy. I remember being caught on a somewhat open trail with a rapidly approaching active thunderstorm. Probably the most scared of I've been for a long time knowing I could get struck at any moment. Just a tragedy.

Horrible tragedy, RIP. The whole northeast has been hit with pretty bad weather, a tornado touched down around 15 miles from my house :scared:

I was shocked to here this, RIP. It is good news that a fan who was critical is now stable.

Patrick Long driving Bucker’s 30 Cup car, that will be interesting.

Speaking of Gordon, don't get your hopes up too high. He will be facing some tough competition from Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman (though mostly from Busch).

Remember, we still have Watkins Glen, Michigan, Bristol, Atlanta, and Richmond (Busch's best track). It will be really tough for Gordon to keep up with Busch at this point, since Busch is really good at the upcoming 5 tracks. However, you have to think that Gordon is good at all of these tracks and may be able to make a run for the chase.

Don't assume that Gordon will make the chase, but don't count him out either, as he is looking as better than ever since the beginning of this season.

Kyle has had terrible luck lately.

Also, if Patrick Long is in the race, I've got to support that effort.

Seriously? That sucks. Sponsorship ran out or something?

No idea. Seemed like he wasn't guaranteed a ride next year and he was looking elsewhere while still with BKR. So they cut him. I guess that makes sense (no idea).

I think it's due to him being out at Penske as well. With the news that Ryan Blaney was going to be in the car I think Kligerman knew he had to go elsewhere. Ryan might be the one going to BKR.

Patience runs thin at Penske I guess. Can't rush a driver through the series hoping to strike gold.

I saw the same article on ESPN.com.(I believe this is the one, you're referring to?) Apologies if someone has already mentioned this.

Furniture Row Racing may switch to Dodge next year.
Furniture Row general manager Joe Garone said Sunday at Pocono Raceway that there have been initial talks with Dodge about making a switch and adding a second team, potentially with 2004 Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch.
"We have talked to Kurt about if we could get to two cars about being a teammate to Regan," Garone said. "Kurt is a terrific driver and certainly would be a good fit. We would love to be able to put that together.

And on Penske's engine program.
The catalyst could be Penske Racing's engine department. Penske Racing is talking to Roush Yates Engines about using the organization's Ford engines in 2013.

Team owner Roger Penske has said he will not shut down his engine shop and put those employees out of work. He has not ruled out selling the shop, perhaps to Dodge, which would then supply engines to whatever team or teams they sign.

If they're serious about this, better start building those Dodge chassis now. Otherwise, there won't be enough for Kurt to wreck next season.

Wow. They made a whole new 2013 car and for what? No team is even going to use it (Assuming this rumor is true anyway). I thought for sure RPM was going to Dodge (though I might have been reading too much into the Pennzoil commercial featuring a Challenger that reads "Dodge by Petty").

I thought that RPM would switch to Dodge as well.

RPM should be thrilled with the support they've gotten from Roush-Fenway. They aren't going anywhere. Penske is leaving Dodge to join Roush. That probably told RPM everything they needed to know.
