Since I am not too famliar with the new track we are getting, I am asking this question to the more experienced drivers of this track. Do you think this would be a good track to do NASCAR racing on. Why or why not. Thanks for any replies.

I don't see why not. As long as the car fits on the track, it's fine.

The course itself I would kind of compare to Infineon, which NASCAR races on.

I think so, it's wide, has some great high speed corners, and heavy braking spots. I think stock cars will work great on it.

All in all, its a great track that lives up to the hype and PD did an amazing job modeling.

Cool. Thanks for responding and yea, Infineon is a cool track. I love the layout.

I know you can't use cars on Kart Space but I would love to see a 16 car race of NASCAR's on it...that would be mayhem :P

I did a Nascar race on Spa, it works but put penalties on (for any race really on it I guess) because stopping for Les Combes isn't easy.

I've raced on Spa with penalties. As always, a great way to completely ruin a race.

Can't pass someone? Drive through them, or nudge them off the track to shut their engine down for 5 seconds.

On a game, it's fine. I think if the series were to race on it, they'd have trouble with the hairpin chicane at the end before the start/finish. They may need to modify it some in real life.

This track really tests out both the mechanical grip and down-force of these cars.

The last chicane is definitly not very good for a Nascar... and Turn one also isnt apropriate... besides being a right hander :dopey: its very tight

Believe it or not, stock cars come with steering wheels. There's no issue.

Usualy tilted to the right :dopey: kidding

But not much steering lock (the real ones at least) and they are very heavy and powerfull and not all that much mechanical grip for low speed corners...

^If they don't have any trouble at Infineon or Watkins Glen, I don't see any reason why they would at Spa.

I was doing just fine in my OPTION 350Z while racing in a lobby a few days ago, and that car has less aero than a NASCAR (but similar power, power delivery and weight).

Spa is just a really fun track all around and I'm glad they included it.

I was in a 2 lap NASCAR race on Spa last week, and it was absolutely one of the most amazing races I've ever done in GT5.

I was in the lead on the last lap until I ran a little wide at Blanchimont, and the guy behind me and I were side-by-side into the chicane. I took a cleaner line through the chicane and came out ahead at first. But he got a better start onto the pit straight, and he won it by .010 seconds.

So yes, Spa can be very good for NASCAR, so long as you are a skilled driver racing with other skilled drivers. Or at least, as long as you race clean. But it feels nothing like NASCAR on an oval. It is road racing, but Cup Cars are great because they have large amounts of mechanical grip, so you can race them hard. Really, all road courses can be great for NASCAR.

Remember to raise your downforce settings too.

Actually you could watch any NASCAR race and it'd probably be mayhem, moreso at Talladega and Daytona, that's the whole appeal of the sport to most people who watch it.

Haven't taken a "stock car" out to Spa yet, but I also get the feeling it would fit them well.

Thanks for all of your responses and input guys, its greatly appreciated. I just got done with a little tuning and test session there and I must say that track is awesome with a NASCAR car. The two trouble spots are just what some of you have stated. The esses before the finish line and the tight right hander after the finish line which isn't all that bad. I will be definately including this track in my online racing with my NASCAR car, just hope I can get some people with me. Not sure what kind of lap times I was pulling as I wasn't paying attention, I was more worried about learning the track and getting the car to handle half way decent. I will be doing some more testing tommorrow and will post up lap times if anyone is interested. Hope to get other NASCAR guys to run there with me. Anyways, thanks again for everyones input. Clean lines and good times!!

I don't see a problem with that, as Exorcet said. Spa has many fast sections with wide corners and lots of braking. Sounds like a nice challenge for stock cars :) I haven't driven a NASCAR since the Seasonal dedicated for it, but the only things I think it will have problems is flatting out Eau Rouge and braking into Les Combes & La Source.

EDIT: Oops, too late.

Les Combes, la Source, and Bus Stop chicane, the three major braking points, are not a problem with NASCAR, so long as you correctly identify your braking points. I found that the brakes on them are plenty good, and the great amounts of grip meant I could do plenty of late braking. The one corner that has been especially difficult for me in the Sprint Cup Cars (but which is difficult for me in all cars) is Blanchimont. Other than that, even Eau Rouge isn't particularly difficult with the Cup Cars.

Tested at Spa a lot in the new Nationwide with the new tyre model beta version on iRacing, It was fantastic and perfectly suited to racing with the car, even though the cars are fairly slow and difficult to drive at the track. The Sprint Cup NASCAR stock cars in GT5 however have much better performance than the real thing (or iRacing versions) and drive more like heavy but fairly high downforce race cars, so racing in them at this track should be fairly easy and laptimes would be fairly fast.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2:10.x

Got control over a SPA lobby about a week ago and had some fun races. One of which was a NASCAR race, which actually went better than expected.

Quite suprising how a 3500lb "American Veyron" can pull a 2:25ish lap.

Also did Karts, which was pretty fun. Chromekart FTW.

I think I was in that lobby. Was the NASCAR race won by .010s?

I ran a NASCAR for a laugh online the other night and romped to a win at Spa. It's an easy car to drive as you can nail it early and it never gets out of shape.

Just took one of my Nascars around Spa and it was a lot of fun, I pulled off a 2:23.xxx lap time with racing hard tires on.
