How do I increase the horsepower of a NASCAR racer?

On the main menu there's a bunch of yellow boxes about two-thirds of the way to the right (look to the right of the car, and to the left of the moon buggy).

They're where you service, pain or buy parts for your car. Go to "Pit Service" - the bottom one of the five - and pick Change Oil. If your car has loads of miles on it, pick Overhaul Engine instead, which changes the oil at the same time.

You'll have a few more icons on your main menu than that, as that's a very early screenshot I took, but everything's in the same place.
