I hate this course.

Actually, that's not totally true. I like the course i just hate it when your racing it on the nascar series. The AI continues to try and succesfully spin you out (or at least spin me out).

I've golded all the events in the series except Daytona.

Here's a quick vid of my latest attempt.

If you have any suggestions on winning the event, let me know.

thx

Change to bumper cam so you can watch the AI behind you in the mirror, don't let them get a long side your rear quarters. If they are coming up fast make them tap you square in the rear bumper not a long the sides and if they're along side don't turn and cut across them. Also it is best to stay way on the inside of the track so they can't get on the left of you.

I never had the AI problem, dont cut in front of them or get in their line and youll be fine, use your review mirror a lot to block when you are leading as they WILL try to bump draft you .

Looking at your video, that wreck was 100% your fault, not the AI. Pay attention more when racing and yo will do fine.

Make sure you have abs and asm turned off. You may have to reconfigure your controls as you need to do in game, not in the pre game driving options menu. You will then be able to go faster round the bends and not get caught up by the cheap a1.

You can leave ABS on, but ASM is the key. Once you turn it off you will be SHOCKED
at how much faster you are...

How was that my fault? he (AI driver E.Ota) hits me on the rear towards the left. He drafts gets to close and bumps me.

I do agree with what jay writes, sound like good tactical advice, will try it next time.

Gold the Nascar challenges and you get one gifted.

Because you ran up the track into his line. Hold your line in the turn and you won't get turned

Dude, don't sweat it. I was in the same boat as you. Forget what everyone says and go turn the ASM off and drop the hammer. When you see how much speed the ASM was causing you to bleed during cornering your jaw will drop and concerns about the AI and who's fault th crashes were will all be forgotten.

Is there any difference between the NASCAR cars? I have to buy one for this series and I don't know which one to get.
not that I know of, but I would check prize listsout there. I have won two Jeff Gordon NASCAR rides as prize cars at some point.

How is the ai cheap when he ran up into them?

If you read MY post, I said if you turn asm off, you can go faster and not be caught by the ai. I.e. you will be in front, ahead, in the lead, on your own.

This
Just change to bumper view, and keep your eye on the mirror. And don't go for the lead straight away, time your run to the front by drafting and passing at the last moment

Tried turning off ASM but its off by default couldn't even turn it on if i wanted to.

You sure its not just "greyed out?" It should be on by default and greyed out so you can't change it. I had to use the RA function of the DFGT to turn it off...

This is a tough event to win thats for sure but i seen your problem within 10 seconds of the clip because you were doing exactly what i did intially on that track. You weaving all over the place trying to get the slipstream and inevitably doing that you will cross the nose of an AI car and spin. Im afarid your spin was your fault and not the AI.

Best tip i can give you is to imagine the track is 3 distinct lanes, top , middle and bottom, When your in a lane you cant move into another without checking all around you, its true of real life nascar and is why they have spotters in the crowd relaying info as to who's around them in real time.

--Turn all aids off. it is much quicker

--It'sa long race so dont be in a hurry to get into the lead.

--When in second and third bump draft the cars infront and let cars behind bump draft you, the first 9 laps are just about momentum, you can only win on the 10th lap.

--Do a race and sit at the back and watch how the AI races, it actually races very much like real nascar drivers do and you can learn alot about momentum and positioning from them.

--Golden rule though is look before you manouvre.

Hope this or some of the other tips from other forum users helps you mate. I was so glad when i won this race, i know il never be going near it again lol

Yeah its greyed out, i'm using a controller, no wheel.

Do people not read posts here?

you need to get the in game menu up, where you can adjust brake ratios, turn assists on and off in game, when racing, when your driving!

Go to options on the title screen, go to controller settings, find out the setting for ra, and set it up. You can then turn off asm in game as its greyed out pre game.

Ok...here is what you gotta do. Go to the controls section. You have to assign the "RA function" to one of the buttons on the controller. Rr is probably a really good option. Once that is done, go into the race, click R3 and it will bring up an on screen display. Click down till you get to ASM and turn it off. Click R3 again, and blow their doors off.

Here is how you'll win:

When the race starts let all the cars overtake you, but do it so that you are close to last one, dont let them get away too much.

Stay on last position till 9th lap, then overtake them all and block them for maybe half of lap till finish.

This way there is like 90% less chance to be spin out cause you are in front of them for only about half of lap or less.

I did it with controller in 2 or 3 tries.
