So they must only be able to have contingency sponsors with alcohol in them? That sucks.

Regardless, hopefully it actually looks that good.

lol I'd be impressed if that trailer was real time, but I was getting that Grid and Dirt like feel and I'm not liking it.

I highly doubt that's real time, but hey if Eutechnyx was able to get the graphics to be that good, more power to them.

And I don't know why, but I like the way PD rendered the cockpits compared to the way Eutechnyx did it...

Oh, will this game be a sim or an arcadey racer? I'm leaning toward arcadey since this is Activision who we're talking about and they go for the most bucks.

I can tell you that the trailer used the ingame assets ;) so its actually the ingame car model used =)

So what you see is what you get,
and dont even think about comparing this to SCC cus its nothing like it the engine used here is way beyond that point ;)

lol Are you guys actually hating on one of your games??!!! Blasphemy!! haha I liked SCC.

All I can say after watching the trailer is "MORE PLEASE!!!!!". Now my obsessing begins.👍 The sound is really good and the graphics look great as well.

the cockpits look fine to me actually...the head rests on the seat and the seats themselves are much narrower than in real life, but oh well. The gauge panels look incredibly nice too and there really is no right way to do them, as every driver has his preferred layout on how they are. I like that they tilted the tachometer counter clockwise like most drivers do also...

haha no , what i ment is that the graphics cant be compared as the SCC was done almost 3 years ago =)

I can't judge a NASCAR game since I don't know much about the sport, but to me it seems like 43 overpowered cars going in circles (of course as not many American cars are great at turning)

Ask Juan Pablo Montoya how he feels about overpowered cars going in circles. Ask him if it's as simple and easy as it looks on TV.

I'm not doubting that its hard as steering must be compromised, but in a game it wouldn't be too hard. I'm not dissing NASCAR thouugh.

Same as GT5, it is really good but will never be realistic as you would never have to worry that the 458's engine is going to explode

Tbh mate our modles are acutally better, also you wont see as much details in the interior as you do in our game ;)
but this is just my opinion ,
im a huge GT5 fan, but i thought the interiors in their Nascar¨s where a bit lacking in details.

glac

Oh I have no doubt about that.... I was just poking some fun here ;) I already found FC and SCC very enjoyable games so I will definitely take your word on this one 👍

-Edit: Just saw the trailer... and one word... WOW

yeah trailer is godlike =D
but game it self is brillitan , i can honestly say i did not like nascar, but after seeing a race and being there hearing the sound and playing the game I am a fan ;)
its a lot more then just left tuirns and beer now :P i realized that and im really exited to be a part of something this unique =)

Sorry, guess I have a case of the Nepolianic syndrome since 90% of the discussion on this site is on road racing (which I love). It all comes down to proper chassis setup, among other things. All the horsepower in the world does no good if the driver is limited by a poor handling race car.

Of course the steering has to be O.K but would you see a NASCAR car doing the Nürburgring in under 10mins, without spinning out?

However this looks a great game and I might buy it.
BTW, not poor handling but not as good as say a Ferrari, Lambo, Audi ect.

Were you being serious? Of course you would.

So you think an S-Type diesel is as fast as a 3500lbs car with 900hp and full slicks?

Without spinning out? The power and speed is there, just maybe not the steering.

Oh, come on now.

Honestly, I'm not much of a NASCAR fan either. For two reasons.

1. I'm just not a big fan of oval racing. Especially in a spec series, with all else being equal, the key to winning an oval race is having an ideal setup, working the traffic and strategic pitstops. And I just don't find oval racing all that exciting.

2. I just can't take a 'racing car' seriously that weighs ~1600 kgs.

That said, put a guy like Tony Stewart in a cup car at the Nurburgring and it would probably surprise a lot of people.

No but if we put say an Apollo vs Nascar in a track with tricky turns & all, the Apollo would most likely win but in oval, nascar will.

I think you are greatly under appreciating what a Nascar can do, but it depends entirely on the track.

On a tight, twisty, and tricky track the Apollo might be faster. However the Apollo as **** tons more down force and other trick aids, but with a stock car it's all down to chassis/suspension set up and driver skill.

As I said earlier, I do not know much about NASCAR however I dont think that they are the best at cornering.... anyway lets stick to the topic of the thread.

Comparing the two racing styles is kind of pointless (just my opinion). But, it comes down to taste. I just hope, and it sounds like we're going in the right direction, that NTG2011 captures the details of how hard it is to consistently place in a NASCAR race.

The variables mentioned by Davet on their forums make me think that winning will take a bit of luck (a lot actually) if you find yourself stuck in the middle of the pack. There will be things the driver has to be ready for besides aggressive drivers and tire wear like AI wrecks and debris from those wrecks that will impact your chances of winning or limping to the garage on 3 wheels (something I hope we see - a car driving to the garage with one wheel totally knocked off).

I hope the really put an effort into the restarts...I remember being able to pick off 6 sometimes 10 cars on each restart in the EA failures we were playing.

I liked it when I ****ed up and needed to start in the rear. :dopey:

Very excited for this. The older EA games were painful, and GT5 is not going to focus on it, so this is a great thing. NR2003 was the last Nascar game I played that was great, I hope this will measure up. I remember blasting off into turn one at Michigan at 205+mph barely under control, gently picking the throttle up once the car settled and sliding up to the wall off two, that was edge of your seat stuff, it took me so long to be able to do that, very rewarding to hit the marks lap after lap, I hope this can be a new that. The EA games were never like that for me, something was ALWAYS off.

What about turning right going off into turn 3 at Tiburan at 284mph?:dopey:
