What about North Wilksboro, I believe that track is still raced on weekly, and it was incredible for Nascar racing.

It's still used for racing, problem is that it's not in the greatest of shape and the facilities are nowhere near what they would need to be.

Also, even though he probably doesn't read these forums, congrats to Jimmie Johnson on the birth of his daughter. I heard she already has won 3 go-kart championships.

Shout out to Danica Patrick... she finished 24th at Chicagoland and even mentioned some driving techniques she's learned while racing at Chicagoland. Her 24th-place finish is her best ever finish.

Any picks to win the NASCAR Cup race tonight at Chicagoland? By the way, this is the final NASCAR on TNT race this season.

What happened, what did I miss?

22 ran out of gas before the last restart while in 2nd place. This moved the 18 to the outside of the front row and Kyle Busch won. 👎

Oh yeah, saw that too. I knew Brad screwed himself when he missed the pits. I hate it for Joey, he was right there within winning it and there goes Kyle. I swear everytime he gets a penalty, its like he becomes just that much more unstoppable after serving it.

LOL, to anyone who was watching the Nationwide qualifying, Danica went out first and here was her post-lap interview.

Reporter(not sure who it was): Congratulations on the pole Danice
Danice: Yeah right, I went out first so of course I will have the pole, just wait a couple seconds that will change.

Well, she was keeping it real  She's been pretty modest about her races in Nationwide and she's been getting better. Saw her fighting Raines and Wallace a few times for position so thats a positive sign.

Kind of really late on this but i just loved watchinG the old Wrangler #3 at the hands of an Earnhardt he really did his best not to cry in Victory Alley, although sorrow got the best of his Crew Chief who in tears said " man, we lost everything here, so to come back with the #3 and win it, it means everything".

Touching.

YES!!! Reutimann got it. Was pulling for him the whole race, great to see him win one with all the speed he had.

I always knew he could get it done. Good job David!!!

I gained a lot of confidence in Jr. after the last 4 weeks. After tonight, however, I'm not entirely convinced he is chase material.

Will Jeff Gordon win this year?

2nd in the points with no wins..

I hope so, but on the other hand, wouldn't it be great to see a driver win a championship without winning a race on the year?

Matt Kenseth almost did it. IIRC he had 1 win in 2003.

Of the drivers up front pretty much every week I'd like for Kurt to win his 2nd championship this year.

Strange coincedence: the 3 goes to victory lane two weeks in a row. First with Junior at Daytona, now with Dillon at Iowa. Seems mighty magical.

I can't imagine he won't. A team that's as performing as good as the 24 team can only go so long without winning races. If things would have went his way, he should easily have a minimum of 4 wins this year. He WILL win a race before the year is over. When he does that, more will soon follow.

I feel the same way about Jeff Burton. The performance has been there in multiple races, just not enough luck.

I just noticed that every race from here on, except Bristol, Richmond, and Charlotte, is being televised on ESPN and not ABC. Who on earth decided that? Excluding people who don't have cable or satellite TV is just stupid. :grumpy: I never liked how they've done it for the past couple of years, with every race up to Richmond being on ESPN, but at least the Chase races were on ABC, and that sure as heck beats this year's arrangement. :banghead:

I have lost all respect for Carl after the BS he pulled tonight. He had enough speed to get brad on the straight and because of a bump, he flat takes BK out. Unbelieveable. Kurt and Jimmie had a push and shove, but none of them went in the wall:tdown:

Yeah that is the cheapest thing I've seen a NASCAR driver do since...well Carl at Atlanta. What little respect I had for Carl is completely gone. If NASCAR doesn't throw some sort of MAJOR fine/penalty, a good chunk of my respect for NASCAR and their decision making will go out the window as well.

That wasn't "have at it boys" and that wasn't racing, that was an ***hole that wanted to win.

Agreed and I'm one of Carl's biggest supporters..... However Mr. Edwards... this I DON'T LIKE ONE DAMN BIT. One, both, or a lot of people are going to get hurt. Its not worth it, just let it go. Its going to be a never ending nightmare for both of them and NASCAR.

I do think BK did deserve at least a bump for what he did in turn one, not sure if he deserved that. In any case, some exciting racing there.

That was just Brad getting loose under Carl and chasing it up the track. Nothing really he could do. But what Carl did, meh,

I totally disagree. Did you see all the room below BK on the track? He either drove it in there too hard which caused the bump, or drove it in there high on purpose to try and rattle Edwards feathers. Which, he did without a doubt.
