Man, that 11 car of Brian Scott is flying. I think this is the year that Braun Racing becomes a championship player with Scott now on that team. We may finally get a true Nationwide series champion finally.

You had to go there didn't you ;)

Couldn't resist :D

Danica Patrick 37th fastest in first Nationwide Practice, complaining of lack of rear grip

Would anyone like to assist in solving this problem? I'd be up for it :sly:

Wow, all these speeding penalties just like last year. Someone really needs to look at the last timing and scoring zone.

Also, does anyone besides me think these commercials from Nationwide showing Jr's dad are abit, to me at least, insensitive? Just seems wrong to repeatidly bring up someone thats passed away multiple times just to sell insurance. At least the Hellman's didn't bring him up even once.

Jesus Castillo, what a finish!

Joey Logano is pissed though, can hear it in his voice!

Yeah, I would be too. Same idiot that put him into the wall last October does it again today. And then to add insult to injury, Brad drives like he usually does and spins him into the grass. Should've figured it was too good to be true with those two on the restart.

Joey is 19 years old these veterans arent going to cut him any slack or take well to him dominating them all. It looked like to me Biffle was on the inside and Joey tried to cut down on him and got himself loose. And with Keslowski it looked like it was Joey's fault at least from what I saw.

Something I found interesting on youtube, here is a video of the finish of this year's Daytona 500, notice how many of the 40 comments call it redneck or boring.

Unbelievable. If you didn't find that exciting, do you not have a pulse? What is your definition of exiting in racing then? Unbelievable that people can let their hate of NASCAR (which is driven by ignorance and stereotypes of the sport) blind themselves to the awesome racing that takes place like today's finish.

Danica finished 31st or something, but she didn't wreck the car and didn't make any enemies. If it werent for a couple of speeding penalties should could have finished in the 20s. Thats certainly not bad for someone with no stock car experience and I think no testing at all. She seemed upset after the race but she has nothing to be ashamed of, Montoya and others finished much worst in their California debut. She just needs more laps and time to adjust.

You know what? Danica is a winner today. I think finishing races is one of the most underappreciated aspects of racing. She did just that, albeit multiple laps down. I mentioned that Danica's move from ARCA to NASCAR Nationwide is like going from Triple-A baseball to the major leagues. She's transitioning, and did a pretty good job though the results didn't show it.

Congratulations to Rowdy Busch, who'll be racing next weekend or so at home at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (fix this if I'm wrong). Then again... I don't know if there's a such thing as Home Field Advantage in NASCAR. And I don't think someone people don't like very much is going to be any kind of favorite when racing in their home town or native town.

Nascar.com Weekend Review
There's no doubt Jimmie Johnson turned a tough situation into Shinola after Johnson, who led a race-high 101 laps, was shuffled back in the running order more than halfway through the race. Johnson brought the No. 48 Chevy to the pits for a green-flag stop on Lap 223, moments before Brad Keselowski's Dodge spun off Turn 4 to bring out the sixth caution of the race.

Johnson beat the pace car to the scoring line at the end of pit road by approximately 3 seconds. Two drivers on pit road behind him, Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle, weren't as fortunate, and each lost a lap.

As the cars circled the track under caution, preparing for a restart on Lap 231 of 250, crew chief Kevin "Bono" Manion told his driver, Daytona 500 winner McMurray, that Johnson was leading the race.

"How can he be leading?" McMurray radioed back in amazement. "He was on pit road, wasn't he?"

"It's the 48, man," Manion replied.

Enough said.

Surely I can't be alone in agreeing with Manion and believing that Johnson is often very lucky. I would probably need two hands to count the number of times last year that he emerged on the fortunate end of a situation like this one, with a scheduled pit stop coming immediately before a caution flag.

Can you rememer last year Talladega in the fall, Jimmie Johnson comes in to pit and take tires and fuel late in the race, but soon the race goes into overtime and guys start running out of fuel, they start peeling off and pitting and suddenly hes running in the top 5!

But its not all chance, Knaus is one of the best crew chiefs, he single handedly won JOhnson the Twin 150 at Daytona this year. Even the talladga race I mentioned was not entirely chance, they got fuel to make sure they didnt run out in case the race went to overtime so alot of it is excellent strategy .

Alot of people say the 48 wins only because Knaus is a cheater, but they forget how good of a driver Johnson is and how good Knaus is at making calls

Mark Martin has said Knaus and JOhnson are the most cerebel racers hes ever known

I agree completely that they make almost all of the best decisions that they can, which creates a lot of their "luck." Nevertheless, it seems unusually rare that he is caught in a bad position that has little to do with decision-making, such as getting lapped as a caution flag comes out during green-flag pit stops.

I think Jeff Burton said it best when asked about the 48 team's performance late in the race: "Sure they got lucky, but they were able to execute when they had the oppotunity"

More like block the crap out of everyone and put them in the wall. Everyone will soon figure out that the 48 races dirty and will get whats coming to him.

If you are talking about the incident with Harvick, that was his own doing. Johnson had nothing to do with that. Do you even watch post-race interviews?

What?

If that was true somebody surely would have figured out how to keep him from winning the last 4 championships, right?

So I guess by that same token, that failed dive for the lead by Carl Edwards years ago was him being put into the wall by Johnson, right? If I recall, I've seen this same done many times (ironically, Stewart and Johnson at Atlanta 2007 comes to mind) but somehow when Johnson does it, its not right? Its blocking the crap out of people? Did you actually watch the race all the way through? if you did, you would have seen that Harvick was able to get by multiple times with plenty of room to spare.

People in the UK can watch the races on TV again.

New TV deal allows UK fans to watch NASCAR races: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races are again on television in the United Kingdom as the Open Access 3 channel starts covering the series this weekend from Las Vegas. Previous UK NASCAR broadcaster Sky ceased its live coverage at the end of last season, bar a one-off reappearance for the Daytona 500. But NASCAR has now announced a new deal with Open Access 3 - channel 190 on Sky - starting from the next race, with the broadcast beginning Sunday.

Another IRL driver is looking at NASCAR.
Rahal to look for NASCAR ride: IndyCar driver Graham Rahal said the chances of participating in the IndyCar season opener next month in Sao Paulo, Brazil are "zero," leading him to meet next week with NASCAR officials to see if there's something available for him in stock car racing. "Every minute going by and by seems to cause more of a concern," Rahal said Tuesday from his home outside Columbus, Ohio. "I should be there" [testing IndyCar at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama]. Rahal, 21, son of 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal, joined the free agent market late in the offseason after parting with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing when McDonald's withdrew its sponsorship to focus on the Olympics.

I hope he finds something since he does have talent.

Blocked him and put him in the wall? It's called "taking his line away". There is a fine line between taking someone's line away and blocking them. When Jimmie took his line away, Kevin got a thing called "aero push". I suppose he should have pulled low and waved Kevin on by.

Like so many others, your jealously of Jimmie Johnson's success is showing.

"Superman" Jimmie Johnson won the damn race again. 👎 :grumpy: What can anybody do to stop this complete and utter 🤬 short of tampering with his equipment before the race so he blows up on lap 48, giving the fans something to cheer about?

Just goes to show that the best car doesn't always win. If Jeff had taken four tires on that last stop, it would have been all over.

And funny enough on this site, there's an ad with a chance to win Jimmie's Silverado

I don't understand Steve Letarte putting two tires on the 24 car. Gordon and Johnson had such a big gap on everyone else coming into the pits. Even with Kevin Harvick taking no tires, Jeff would have came out 3rd at worst and more than likely would have won the race.

At the rate Jimmie's going, they should just award him his 5th straight trophy now and end this torture-filled season early for the fans.

I can't figure out why Steve Letarte made that call to only change 2 tires when he knew "Superman's" car was as fast as Jeff's before the final pit stop. :dunce: Maybe he was told to do that by Rick Hendrick (most likely) or Nascar race control?

I wasn't listening to the 24's radio but if his car was tight (as many were) using 2 tires actually helped the car handle better.

If I remember correctly Jeff Burton had a 2 tire stop early on and once they went to 4 tires it really tightened up and well, we know the rest.
It was reported on the team radio the tires were fine but he thought they had damaged a bump stop or some part of the suspension.
I hope to read some reason to what he was feeling, if anything, as his times were pretty good compared to Johnson's.

He (#31) did have a decent finish to the day by staying out for that last caution.

I have to believe that the 48 crew is just THAT good, unfortunately.
Remember, the last time they took 2 tires in a similar situation, they won.
