Does anyone besides me find it rather ironic that a car sponsored by a Restraunt wins a Nationwide race sponsored by a Burger Restraunt? Just felt like randomly putting that out there.

Jeff Gordon just can't seem to buy a win. It's like in basketball when someone says that there's a lid on the basketball hoop- it's like you can shoot all the baskets you want, but none seem to go down the net. That's what Jeff Gordon's going through. I remember when he could have won at Martinsville and this past weekend at Richmond... but fails to cash in on the win. The difference is that Jeff Gordon has won MANY times before. So to not see him win is rather disheartening. I don't want to say that his best days are behind him, but I really feel for the #24 not finishing P1.

Well, Darlington is next. It will be time to see who will survive one of NASCAR's most grueling tests. Saturday night primetime racing this weekend!

NASCAR Cup is about ready to set it off at Darlington in a few minutes. Kyle Busch won the previous round. Jamie McMurray is on pole with Jeff Gordon sharing the front row.

NASCAR Sprint Cup at Darlington. Let's get it on!

Anyone know why some of the names are in blue on the Fox ticker?

Also, what's up with Stewart?

Edit: They don't have any of the names with blue backgrounds anymore. I am confused.

The blue names are the head-to-head people. I have no idea what it is, but I heard them say it. I think it's some game when you pick who will do better then someone else and you get points? I really have no idea.

It just seems like Jeff Gordon can't finish P1 even with strong efforts. I'm really concerned for my favorite NASCAR driver. Oh well... up next - Dover next Sunday afternoon. Yeah, the Monster Mile.

Seems like his car faded towards the end. Gordon is one of those drivers where once he wins one he will probably win 2-3 more in a short span(probably where Johnson got it from:grumpy:)

I forgot how much I like Darlington speaking of tracks whose names start with a D. We need more of that.

Yes, those are DEI stripes.

Sounds like it may run Daytona. Probably a similar reason as Jr. driving the 3 in the Nationwide series.

Edit: Apparently it's going to be at Goodwood.

I want to congratulate NASCAR on opening this NASCAR Hall of Fame. I didn't see the ceremonies, but this is great for NASCAR. Congratulations also to all five of the first inductees.

My mom's friend has two spare tickets to this weekends race but I can't go. Waaaah

Nothing to do with the race weekend but since its NASCAR related, I think its worth looking at:

I can't view the link. Is someone making a game or did you just create a cover using GT images?

Link works fine on my end. And yes, I made the cover as I pretty much indicated in the post.

I don't have permission to view the link.

What I meant by my second statement is there a new sprint cup game coming out and you decided to make a cover for it or was it just for fun? Either way it looks great.

I just made that for fun.

Casey Mears has to be close to some sort of record.

Vickers to skip Dover due to medical condition: Red Bull Racing Team officials announced that due to a recent diagnosis of a medical condition, Brian Vickers will not compete in this weekend's NASCAR racing activities at Dover International Speedway. Vickers, age 26, driver of the #83 Red Bull Toyota, was hospitalized Wednesday evening and continues to undergo testing and further evaluation. Casey Mears has been selected to drive for the team this weekend. "It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race. Casey is a good friend of mine, and I know he will do his best for the #83 team this weekend," said Vickers. "Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery", said Jay Frye, RBRT General Manager and Vice President. "All things are looking good at the moment; this is just a minor setback. We appreciate Casey filling in this weekend and know he will represent the team well."(Red Bull Racing)
Mears was scheduled to run the #36 Chevy for Tommy Baldwin Racing, Johnny Sauter will be in the #36 Chevy at Dover.(5-13-2010)
AND #83-Brian Vickers was being treated Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition that will prevent him from racing this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Red Bull Racing said Vickers was hospitalized Wednesday night and being held for further testing. The team did not reveal where he was hospitalized, although Vickers was scheduled to visit Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Thursday and tour the Capitol with U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings. Red Bull said Casey Mears will replace Vickers this weekend in the #83 Toyota. "It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race," Vickers said in a statement. "Casey is a good friend of mine, and I know he will do his best for the #83 team this weekend." Red Bull general manager Jay Frye called Vickers' illness a "minor setback."
"Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery," Frye said. "All things are looking good at the moment, this is just a minor setback. We appreciate Casey filling in this weekend and know he will represent the team well." He's currently ranked 20th in the standings, but only 160 points out of the 12th Chase qualifying position. Missing a start almost certainly will make it impossible for Vickers to make the Chase this season.(Associated Press/ESPN)(5-13-2010)

Hopefully Vickers will be fine.

Also, here is the tally of teams Mears has been hired by thus far.
90-Keyed Up Motorsports
11-Joe Gibbs Racing(Sub driver for Hamlin, wasn't needed though)
36-Tommy Baldwin Racing
83-Red Bull Racing

Vickers hospitalized with blood clots

DOVER, Del (AP) -- NASCAR driver Brian Vickers was hospitalized with blood clots in his legs and around his lungs.

Red Bull Racing general manager Jay Frye says Vickers is on medication and was hopeful of being released from the hospital on Friday.

Frye says Vickers complained of discomfort on his chest and went to the hospital. He says the team is not sure what caused the clots.

Frye says there is "no timetable" for Vickers' return.

The 26-year-old is in his seventh full season racing in NASCAR's elite Sprint Cup Series. He has two career Cup wins and made the 12-driver Chase for the championship last season.

He's currently ranked 20th in the standings.

Casey Mears will replace Vickers in the No. 83 Toyota.

Seems weird for him being so young... Hopefully this is not going to be an ongoing problem for him.

Maybe it's all the RedBull?

So in actuality, it does not give you wings. Dietrich might have a lawsuit coming for false advertising on his products.

Vickers will definitely be out this weekend, but if he heals any faster than my 86-year-old-grandmother, he could probably be in the car next week if he feels strong enough.

From,
Chris.

Let me tell you something... my heart is with Brian Vickers. Hope he'll be well. He's one of many NASCAR racers that I highly respect. My best wishes are with him.
