Danica Patrick will return to NASCAR Nationwide today by racing at the Magic Mile in New Hampshire. I heard DP was given a pair of $1K high-heel shoes, so you can tell they're excited to see Danica race at America's most boring oval. I'm pretty sure that while Danica would love those high-heels, I think she would prefer driving shoes to do her racing.

Go Daddy and Go Danica!

It looks like Danica Patrick finished 30th, five laps down, while Kyle Busch won the Nationwide race at New Hampshire. I didn't get to see the race because I was out with my family today. So that now leaves the Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire tomorrow. Who you got winning tomorrow's race, or do you think Rowdy Busch will sweep the weekend?

I was just watching some race weekend news on Speed and the Nationwide segment came up. At the end, they stated the results as "Danica finished 30th, and Kyle Busch won." I don't know about everyone else, but I'm tired of Danica being mentioned along with the winner when there are plenty of drivers, and I DO mean plenty, in between them. No offense to any female drivers and enthusiasts. Also, I'm not saying that she is a bad racer, but at the same time, she is not worthy of the constant praise that she receives. I mean, I noticed that when she is in a race, they talk about her more than any other driver regardless of where she is on the field.

I agree, but this has happened before, look at Richard Petty, a newspaper headline back in the day read "Richard Petty finishes 2nd", in the article, the winner was never mentioned.

Nationwide cars on track this weekend with their new cars. Rumors circulating that NASCAR is taking a hard look at implementing that style car for the Cup series. Manufacturers are begging for more brand identity. (thank gawd) Ford may bring the Mustang over to the Cup series in a few years.

My take: Design the cars more like the Nationwide Challenger, cause the front end is awesome. Do it.

More like they are, just in small steps. The first being the CUP cars will lose the Front end Braces, making room for an improved front valence and will have a resculpted Front ends. Of course you already know how I feel about the Nationwide Impala so I will stay silent on that for now..

No, I agree. The Impala should have been the Camaro, the Camry not allowed, the Mustang shaped more like the real car, and the Challenger is the best of the bunch IMO.

Some images from practice.(taken from Jayski)

Mustang, looks great.

Challenger, looks the best.

Camry, doesn't look that bad, but give Wallace a few laps and he will fix that.

Impala, why, oh why, didn't they use the Camaro?

I'm actually looking forward to the Nationwide race more than the Cup race just because I want to see how these cars do.

The 3 car has won!!! As much as I hate the Impala, I have no problem seeing it in victory lane with Dale jr driving it. Way to go for Dale 👍

Very good win for Jr and everyone involved in that deal. I knew I should have gone to the race tonight

I will say, the new cars look great, just maybe they should have been raced on smaller tracks to get a good handle on them first. Not a bunch of pushing and shoving, just the regular Daytona bumps and weaving. Seemed like everyone was too loose to lean on each other, or bump draft and stay together as well as the Cup cars do. Still, first race on a very worn surface, who knew what to expect.

Loved Jr's interview in Victory lane too. "This is for the fans, I was so worried we wouldn't win, if we didint win people would wonder what we did it for." Or something like that.

Please repeat tomorrow night!

I don't know if this is some sort of poetic justice for Dale Jr. to win at Daytona racing the Wrangler #3 when he hasn't really done a damn thing since his last win in Cup. I didn't see all of the race, but I did see Dale Jr. be P1 in the running order. Great win for him. I'm no Dale Jr. fanatic, but it's very cool to win the way he did.

And RACECAR, I totally agree- the Camaro would have been a GREAT car to use besides the Impala. Think about it- Camaro vs. Mustang in NASCAR. It was a heck of a rivalry in the Trans-Am days, so why not bring this to NASCAR? (The guy/girl/people who chose the Impala over the latest Camaro) = fail. 👎 With these new cars, I can't help but hark back to Trans-Am. I even remember Trans-Am (especially from the mid-late 1990s) when you had more realistic body styles of the Camaro and Mustang. Of course, most of them still had that NASCAR-style, climb-into-the-car, tubeframe stock car look. But I think even they looked better than some of these NASCAR-ized versions of these cars.

One last note... I want to spare a thought for Jennifer Jo Cobb. After she was ousted from the race, she was incredibly disappointed. I hope everything works out for her and her team.

Yeah, no kidding. Two of my picks have wrecked tonight and the last one barely missed it. Think my picks from here on out are just going to be random guys that have better finishing consistency since the top guys keep knocking each other out.

 I was just thinking the same thing. Just glad that last one happened before the white flag, and not after.

Kevin Harvick wins the Coke Zero 400, followed by Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon.

Tough luck for team Penske, but golly Kurt Busch is tenacious.

To be honest, this was the first time I've actually watched a complete (nearly) NASCAR race and enjoyed it. Like the commentators were saying, it was shocking to see how many cars were damaged by the end of the race. :scared:

Some sort of good speculation about next years schedule.

Jayski.com
Some 2011 schedule speculation: It appears more likely than ever the 2011 Sprint Cup slate will have a much different look than it has in recent seasons. NASCAR acknowledged both SMI and ISC have requested realignment date changes for next year, and there are reports Kentucky and a second date for Las Vegas will be part of the SMI plan, at the expense of races in New Hampshire and Atlanta, and Kansas will gain a second NASCAR weekend when Auto Club Speedway gets stripped of its February date.

Not exactly more variety, but less California and Loudon isn't a bad thing. Losing a race at Atlanta is probably the part I like the least about the proposed plans.

I like Atlanta, so that's no good. Can they please add Road Atlanta instead  and give us Montreal and Road America that the Nationwide series get?

Either that, or the Nationwide series is going to be much cooler than Cup. They've already got better looking cars and a few more interesting tracks that aren't raced twice..

IMO that doesn't make the new schedule any more exciting. More road courses and short tracks please!

My ideal NASCAR Cup schedule

Well, I actually like Atlanta Motor Speedway. It's another one of those "different" ovals (like Darlington, Indy, Pocono, Gateway, Chicagoland, etc.). I also love California (nowadays Auto Club Speedway). And yes... NASCAR needs a road course in the Chase for the Cup. You want to win a championship in Cup afte having raced two road courses? Race one more. What if you're in the Top 12, and you're not a good road course racer? Too damn bad- race one anyways, or give up the title to somebody else!

To be off-topic, I'm even hearing about a possible Chase format for Nationwide. Think this is going to play out in some kind of way, and would you want another Chase? I have also heard of a possible elimination format for NASCAR's playoff. Interesting news to speculate on...

I like Atlanta. The SMI tracks are boring. I want a second Miami race.

Well, I actually like Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The only reason Atlanta is up for losing a date is because attendance has been down as of late.

I hope not, the Nationwide series has been a bit more interesting as of late as there is more variety in tracks and no gimmicks like the chase(As well as the Challenger and Mustang). I'm not saying the chase is a horrible thing, but it's far from perfect.

As for the elimination "proposal", I don't see it being much of a change from the way it currently works, it seems even more gimmicky than the chase itself.

Agree adding with Road Atlanta and Montreal. Maybe use the infield roadcourse at some of the existing Superspeedways would be neat too.

Daytona infield.

Of course that will only happen when hell freezes over. Or when GT5 comes out. :D
