Oh Brad drove it in really deep. IIRC he said something earlier about having to much rear brake. I assume this is what got him to get lose on entry. He had to correct it, chasing the car up the track in the process. Carl just happend to be on his outside.

Just my view.

I do think BK did deserve at least a bump for what he did in turn one, not sure if he deserved that. In any case, some exciting racing there.

Perfect example of how the race could have ended: New Hampshire Cup race. Kurt bumped Jimmie out of the way and later Jimmie did the same, but both did not take out the other driver and both finished with cars in one piece.

Brad had been having problems throughout most of the race with brakes. In fact at one point, he himself said he has had to pump the brakes.

Yeah that is the cheapest thing I've seen a NASCAR driver do since...well Carl at Atlanta. What little respect I had for Carl is completely gone. If NASCAR doesn't throw some sort of MAJOR fine/penalty, a good chunk of my respect for NASCAR and their decision making will go out the window as well.

That wasn't "have at it boys" and that wasn't racing, that was an ***hole that wanted to win.

I whole heartedly agree. Carl is such a slime ball.

Leave it to Carl to make Brad seem like a good buy. Granted yes Brad did give him a bump, but it was just that. Carl obviously spun him out on purpose and once again he put Brad in a situation where he could have gotten seriously hurt(he got hit really hard after the spin). I think someone needs to have a talk with Carl and teach him how to have a rivalry because he is horrible at it.

I'm really looking forward to Indy, I'm rooting for Montoya to finally win the thing already.

Wish I had cable where I'm at right now. I want to see what happened. Ill jump on the boo carl bandwagon anyhow though.
I wish we had better drivers in the fords, oh well.

That does not apply to The Biff, or the bud wagon.

Here's the final lap at Gateway incase anyone hasn't seen it.

To me, it appears Carl gave him plenty of room down low in turn 1 and BK just drove up into him. (maybe intentional, maybe not)

Coming off turn 3 it looks like Carl tried to pin him down low and break his momentum off the corner coming to the line, BK moved up. I couldn't see his hands to see if he turned into BK.

I don't think Brad moved up off of four. He was in the middle of track.

Edit: I watched it again and you can see Brads car wiggle right before he gets into Edwards. I don't think you can put blame on either driver in turn one. They were both driving hard because it was the last lap and Brad just got a little loose. Turn 3 &4 on the other hand Carl just couldn't hang and he didn't like that.

You know they won't do anything about it. Maybe probation or something very minor if they do. I'm really not sure I like the "have at it boys" mentality now. :odd:

Of course nobody likes it when it involves one of their favorite drivers. If it was Menard and some unknown person going at it, I'm sure it would be different.

Are you aiming at any specific person here, or just talking about fans in general being biased?

Well looks like they did do something instead of just probation this time.

From ESPN:

NASCAR has penalized the No. 60 team of Carl Edwards and driver Brad Keselowski for rules violations committed in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Gateway International Raceway.

Edwards intentionally wrecked Keselowski while heading for the checkered flag on the straightaway coming off the final turn.

Edwards was docked 60 driver points, fined $25,000 and put on NASCAR probation for the remainder of the year. Keselowski was placed on probation through the end of the year. Jack Roush, owner of Edwards' No. 60 Ford, was also docked 60 series championship points.

Trouble began as the two drivers were battling for the lead on the final lap.

Keselowski nudged Edwards out of the way to take the lead and Edwards returned the favor in the final straightaway, sending Keselowski into the outside wall and starting a chain reaction that collected 10 cars in all while Edwards raced to his second victory of the season.

"The incident at the end of Saturday night's race at Gateway was unfortunate not just for Penske Racing and the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge team, but for all of the teams that were caught up in the aftermath," Keselowski said in a statement Wednesday.

*and gets to see the battle both on Saturday and Sunday in person*
Should be interesting. ---- Randy

Finally got to watch another one, and it was a good race. Chip Ganassi with a triple crown, despite Montoya crashing out (who looked ready to take the win). Great to witness that historic moment.

Sad to learn about yet another dirty move from Edwards on Brad Kezelowski on the Nationwide. Looks to me he won't stop until he kills him or someone gets killed in the middle of one of his stunts.

Saturday night.. both Carl and Brad kept their noses clean against each other and the other drivers. Sunday, my God was Kyle Busch getting alot boos.. Gets loose on the first lap and causes a mess. POOR JPM.... What does he got to do to get win at Indy in the 400? When I saw the replay.. *I was sitting on the front stretch* I was like: "Damn!" Anyway, congrats to Jamie Mac on the win and congrats to Chip Ganassi on doing the sweep of both the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500.. and winning the Brickyard 400... In the same year!

I'm starting to see Montoya has probably the best "raw" talent in the world. When hes on hes the best driver in the world if its a F1 car or a stock car

However his talent is so raw it leads to alot of mistakes. He could win with his driving style in 1.5 hour openwheel races but being stuck in a hot heavy stock car for 3.5 hours...I think thats why he hasn't pulled a win off yet on an oval, his aggressive driving style and raw talent just won't last 3.5 hours consistently enough to win.

I can't say I'm sorry Montoya didn't win. That's sprint cup racing. YOu have to put yourself in contention to win on a regular basis to win. Even Reutimann had a few top 5s before winning. Jeff Gordon has lost himself at least 5 races this year.

For Montoya to win on an oval hes going to have to run in the top 5 for a few races straight

Some good news for the Aussie NASCAR fans - Full coverage of each Sprint Cup round will be aired on ONE HD from 2011, as opposed to the highlight packages we currently get. Also take that subscription TV!

Got bored earlier today and decided to make these:

Sad that this is the only way to bring attention to a certain 24 hour race in Belgium since its way too late to make a forum under the new guidelines, but Micheal Waltrip is it and since this is a Nascar thread, I'm posting a link where we can all watch him:

http://www.total24hours.com/24h-spa/nl/videolive2.cfm

UPDATE (that nobody seems to care about): Here is live timing & scoring here.

At the moment, Waltrip is 17th overall, 7th in GT2.

What new guidelines?

For those that care about how Waltrip's car is doing, he is 12th overall, 5th in class as of this post with 8 hours to go.

What new guidelines?

Here:

1. Keep each race to a single thread. This will keep things organized, and on topic. It will also prevent unnecessary new threads and possibly answer your questions. Do not begin a new race thread until the Monday before the event. If it's not related to any particular race, go ahead with a new topic.

Wooo!!! In his first race at Spa, Micheal Waltrip has not only finished, but he finished 5th overall, 3rd in GT2 class. Awesome result:tup:

The post that is from was last edited over a year ago, so it's hardly new. It also just says don't make a thread before the Monday prior to the race, you can make one closer to the actual race still.

Anyways, today's race was a bore fest, there were a couple moments that were exciting but overall it was a snooze fest. Also good to hear that Sadler is ok after that nasty crash.

Oh, well don't I feel smart:dunce: Misread it but either way, I'm guessing I was the only one that cared (or knew maybe) about Waltrip's progress in the Spa 24 Hour. As for the race, didn't really watch it once the last restart got underway.

I watched as much as possible and I was watching MW's laptimes, not too shabby. 👍

It was nice to see Eddie Cheever there also, I haven't seen him since Le Mans.

All I have to say about the Pocono race is... my best wishes are with Elliot Sadler. Since first seeing NASCAR in 1999, I don't think I've EVER seen a crash so vicious that the engine ends up on the track. That was horrific! Maybe the one thing we underrate about NASCAR is that regardless of how vicious the crashes appear, the cars are incredibly safe (at least with today's enhancements) and can withstand such vicious hits. Blue oval types... happy now? Sad to believe Ford hasn't won for so long in NASCAR Cup.

So up next is Watkins Glen. That means a chance for the oval racers to show some road racing moxy, and those who can't cut the mustard in road racing to hire racers. Some of you probably know that I don't like Watkins Glen as much as I used to. However, this track's style greatly suits stock cars. The overall flow of the short course greatly suits the limits of stock cars. Sometimes, though, I wonder what if NASCAR included Watkins Glen in the Chase for the Cup... but race the LONG course. I think the cars can handle Watkins Glen with the "boot." I think this is a great weekend to check out NASCAR if you are a road racing fan. I just hope there isn't some big crash that happens because if so, we won't hear/see the end of it from ESPN. It will be replayed like gospel if so.

Away from Watkins Glen, I'm really sad that (and I love him) Jeff Gordon is 2nd in the points, but hasn't won a race this season. Come close many times, but never into Victory Lane. I think Jeff Gordon will be just fine as far as staying within the top points, but I really think he needs to win to help his positioning in the Chase for the Cup. I think one of the things that led up to the Chase for the Cup was how Matt Kenseth didn't win a bunch of races in 2003(?), but still managed to win the championship. Now it's not like Jeff Gordon is some overhyped rookie. He's just had a tough time winning. I hope he will find that Fountain of Youth where he rediscovers his 1990s success and teaches that #48 car a lesson or two.
