Man I have zero faith in the Chicago Bulls right now.

I know your feeling, Toronto may have won today's game but they look like they've lost their identity.
@Omnis, I think the Cavs are slowly starting to put things together, they've looked much better the last few games.

Were you among the many who selected...

...Oklahoma City Thunder at Miami Heat!

... as the NBA Fan Night Game of the Week this week? Well, Brett's Oklahoma City Thunder will try and entertain Omnis's Miami Heat in Miami in another GTP inner-forum rivalry. NBA fans want to see if the Thunder than ice the Heat in this rematch of the 2012 NBA Finals.

Enjoy your hoops tonight!

Baynes had quite a good game today for the Spurs! 15pts in 15mins, perfect 3-3 FG and perfect 9-9 FT. Mills only had 6pts, it's not like him to only take 3 shots though.

The Thunder beat the Heat last night. I watched the first half and dozed off during half time. Have no idea how the second half went. The win puts the Thunder over .500 for the first time this year.

The Houston Rockets failed bad for most of the game at the Golden State Warriors. I stopped caring seeing and following the game as we couldn't seem to toss the ball into San Francisco Bay. Our night in Oakland was forgettable- a 126-113 beating to the Warriors. With Dallas winning (98-75 at MIN), the Mavericks now have 4th Place in the Western Conference. The Mavs were tied with us for 4th in the West.

Congratulations to everybody who DIDN'T fail on Wednesday, including New York winning back-to-back games by beating the equally sorry Philadelphia 76ers in Philly.

Oh man, Raptors are crashing hard right now. The rotation is in disarray and Casey has stopped coaching all together. The players couldn't shoot the basketball in to the ocean if they fell out of a cliche.

This has to be one of the busiest Thursdays since Christmas. Four games are slated for tonight. Here are those four games:

* San Antonio Spurs at Chicago Bulls (NBA on TNT)
* Utah Jazz at Milwaukee Bucks
* Boston Celtics at Portland Trail Blazers
* Brooklyn Nets at Los Angeles Clippers (NBA on TNT)

I think tonight also includes some All-Star chatter, so you'll want to check that out also. Anyhow, enjoy some Thursday night NBA basketball!

@a6m5, just heard Aldridge will be out for a month. Lopez & Freeman need to bounce back man because I was hoping the Blazers would be one of the teams who could potentially end the Hawks streak if the Thunder can't do it tomorrow night. If not, have to see if the Warriors/Grizzlies can do it; Memphis could potentially do it as they follow right behind GSW 2 nights later.

Mavs up against a tough end of the month; Bulls, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Rockets, Heat, Magic. We barely beat the Bulls & the Grizzlies, and the Heat have always had our number. We can win the others, esp. the Rockets game if we play smart; they've been really streaky lately, losing to the tougher teams lately except the Thunder.

Wow, that sucks. I did hear torn ligament or something, but I didn't know how long he was going to sit.

Having said that, I'm not too concerned, because I think the Blazers are overrated & is due for earlier than expected exit. Our record indicate overachieving, but it's just easy schedule. We have better bench this year, and actually play defense now, but I still think we are at least another piece or two away from contending.

Anywho, LaMarcus has missed some games already this year, and Portland fans gotten used to rooting for the likes of Thomas Robinson & Myers Leonard. Myers didn't even look like a basketball last season, but he seems to be finally coming along in this third season.

P.S. I can root for the Hawks, or any blue collar teams that plays hard. Sorry Mac. :p

Edit: The Oregonian reports that LaMarcus will be out 6~8 weeks. :(

Any faith in Lillard carrying the team? His ability to duck off 2 defenders for a dunk; plays much bigger than he is. Kid is legit.

That sucks about Aldridge, hopefully Thomas Robinson can put some of what made him a lottery pick to good use.

Dante Exum had a new career high 15pts today, unfortunately it was from a yawn inducing five three pointers, but success is success!

It is said that with Kobe Bryant's rotator cuff(?) injury, he may likely be done for the season. Hope he'll be able to recover.

We are basically halfway through the 2014-2015 NBA season. How is everybody looking so far? Here are the standings cmoing into tonight's games:

--- EASTERN CONFERENCE ---
ATLANTIC: Toronto (27-15), BKN (18-25), BOS (14-26), PHI (8-34), NYK (7-36)
CENTRAL: Chicago (28-16), CLE (23-20), MIL (21-21), DET (17-26), IND (15-29)
SOUTHEAST: Atlanta (35-8), WSH (29-14), MIA (18-24), CHA (18-25), ORL (15-30)

EAST STANDINGS: Atlanta, WSH, TOR, CHI, CLE, MIL, MIA, BKN
EAST STANDINGS (Rest): CHA, DET, BOS, IND, ORL, PHI, NYK

--- WESTERN CONFERENCE ---
NORTHWEST: Portland (31-13), OKC (22-20), DEN (18-24), UTA (15-28), MIN (7-34)
PACIFIC: Golden State (34-6), LAC (29-14), PHX (26-18), SAC (16-26), LAL (12-31)
SOUTHWEST: Memphis (30-12), DAL (30-13), HOU (29-14), SA (27-17), NO (21-21)

WEST STANDINGS: Golden State, MEM, POR, DAL, LAC, HOU, SA, PHX
WEST STANDINGS (Rest): OKC, NO, DEN, SAC, UTA, LAL, MIN

I'd add some extra observations and some assessing, but I may do that at a later date. For now, there's plenty of time to improve playoff position or try to stay among the better percentile. Current good teams can fade. Current bad teams can get better. Some even may just stay put or not make any real difference up or down. So stay in the fight! One half is done... the second half is basically underway. Keep on playing!

Enjoy some NBA hoops tonight.

Any faith in Lillard carrying the team?
grumpy-cat-no-1.jpg

I love this cat.

Actually, with at least guys like Lopez, Freeland back in the line up, I think we will stay in the playoff picture, just much lower in ranking. If everybody's healthy, out of slump(Nico Batum), shooting lights out, I think we could win it all........ but realistically, we may achieve maybe one, or two of those things, and shoot for the first, maybe second round of the Playoffs, just like last season. At least that's what I see from the team.

Lillard's good, but IMO, he's not all that without L-Train LaMarcus being the #1 threat(at the very least, 50%) freeing him up to do his thing.

P.S. I checked the standings today & had no idea Dallas were right next to us. You guys are kicking butt! 👍
That sucks about Aldridge, hopefully Thomas Robinson can put some of what made him a lottery pick to good use.
T-Rob has his moments, but it's almost like he has a on-court ADD. He's Mr. Hustle Hustle Hustle, but seems to struggle with consistency. I do like him a lot & really hoping to see guys like him & Myers Leonard gain some minutes in the absence of L-Train & RoLo(Lopez).

Good to hear Freeland's back. I read Lopez was expected within' the next week.

No faith in Lillard, though?! Ok, he is pretty young & Aldridge is the backbone of the team, but man his nickname should still be, "The Clutch Kid". I see some Rockets fans on ISH still hate him because of last year.

We owe a lot of our success to Ellis, though Dirk will still go HAM in the 4th Qtr. if he needs to. But Ellis deserves a huge contract extension, imo. This guy could be our next "Jet" alongside Dirk's final years.

Oh, I don't think Freeland's back yet. I meant when they are back. :p

It's not so much that I lack faith in Lillard, and he's definitely clutch(like, all-time clutch), but compared to L-Train, he doesn't have the consistency. When the "other" scoring threat is absent, it really enable the defense to swarm Lillard.

I am happy for Ellis. High volume scorers are guilty pleasure of mine(still have soft spot for Kobe), so I've always liked the guy. Cool to see him work out in the great system like you guys have in Dallas. 👍

There were some pretty close scores in games tonight. Our game in Phoenix was one of them. The Rockets came out on the winning end of the 113-111 score. This win for the Rockets at DCybertron's Phoenix Suns evens out their record so far on this three-game road trip at 1-1. The final game of this road trip is at the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

[UPDATE] I did not follow the game in any real capacity. So I learned through a Facebook news update that James Harden hit the game-winning buzzer-beater to win the game. Always cool to win on a buzzer beater as long as it's your favorite team that puts in that game-winning shot; not so much if you're the team getting beat by a buzzer-beater. Just ask the 2013-2014 Houston Rockets at Portland in Game 6 of the 1st Round of the Western Conference playoffs on the latter.

I got to hand it to ya, @JohnBM01 , the Suns almost came out on top, if it wasn't for that buzzer-beater.

Anyways, Klay Thompson scores 52 points. Not that special, really.
He did, however, score 37 points in the 3rd quarter.
37 points in a quarter. It takes some people entire games to score that.

That is just insane scoring in a quarter. I.N.S.A.N.E!

Who angered Klay Thompson? Did somebody say he was overrated garbage? Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Did some demon possess him? I just saw that Klay Thompson video (and I love Klay Thompson- don't get me wrong), and that was insane! If this was Killer Instinct, Klay just pulled an Ultra Combo on Sacramento. Insane!

I'm not a Klay Thompson fan, not a big fan of the Warriors either, but it's impossible not to be impressed by that. He wasn't exactly open taking those shots either.

Good news or bad, I don't know:

New career high for Joe Ingles today, getting 16pts in a Jazz victory!:D Dante Exum also got his 2nd straight start over Trey Burke and chipped in 13pts. Now all we need is @sumbrownkid's Bulls to trade Bairstow to a team that will give him minutes.;) I saw one suggested trade that sent Bairstow, Snell and a 2nd round pick to Boston for Jae Crowder. I sincerely dislike Boston, but if it means Cam getting some minutes then so be it.

The best thing about Hassan Whiteside is that he's huge but can also run down the court like a gazelle. Guess who was the first guy down the court on the break after Hassan's blocks? Hassan. He's so ridiculously athletic. He makes other big men look like shambling horrors. There are times when I can't tell who's who running down the court because Hassan moves like a guard.

Hopefully he'll keep it up. All our classic Spo chuck n pray shots now have Hassan under the basket. That's why the Heat are winning again. No more shooting with 17 seconds on the clock while the center is still in transition or floating at the top of the key. Hassan gets to the baseline before the half court offense starts. Thank goodness.

Told you guys. Triple double against the Bulls. 13 rebounds, 12 blocks (!) and mostly transition fastbreak points. Freak.

Of course, Leon Wood would be the ref to throw our win away tonight; didn't call Davis for out of bounds, didn't call Asik for loose ball foul, & calls Tyson for an on-ball (2FT) foul against Davis on the throw in when it wasn't on-ball, nor a foul. Dude's been a POS ref since the Lakers' dynasty days when he used to throw their games away.

I never disagreed! That was a great game to watch, I love seeing relative unknowns start producing, and those 12 blocks weren't set up either, they were nearly all solo jobs by Whiteside and man were some of those rejections emphatic!

How the hell did Hassan wind up on the Heat? O Pat Riley... Praise he, for he work in mysterious ways.

Nobody saw this and said God Damn but Pat Riley? God Damn.

99-87 was the final score in Los Angeles with the Rockets topping the Los Angeles Lakers. So our three-game road trip ends up being 2-1. Our only fail was at Golden State. I think this is now 31 wins for the Rockets at present.

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday.

Today is Vince Carter's birthday. What would you give Vinsanity for his birthday?
