Here's a great look at OKC's new offense, and it explains their trade moves too.

Check out Rondo in that first cut up shown. No wonder Carlisle is pissed at him.

Also: Henry Walker does it again. Twice!

Money! Famous last words: "Uh-oh."

The Magic need a new coaching staff pronto. The interim doesn't look much better than what they started with. So much talent and athleticism going to waste on that team.

We managed to take down the Los Angeles Clippers 110-105. The Clip Joint played pretty well until the Rockets finally woke up and took control late. So Red Nation has more reason to celebrate as our home stand continues.

Congratulations to the other Wednesday winners.

The final Thursday of February 2015 features two games for your enjoyment. The NBA on TNT has these games for you tonight:

* GS Warriors at CLE Cavaliers
* OKC Thunder at PHX Suns

Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy some NBA hoops tonight.

It wasn't pretty, but we won 102-98 hosting the Brooklyn Nets here in Houston. When I first saw a score for this game, the Nets led 12-2. Uh-oh! I checked in later on the radio and learned we were down 86-80 just past midway in the 4th Quarter. All that has to be said is that we won the game. I think this is our 40th win of the season. Again- it wasn't a pretty win or a pretty game, but we'll take the win.

Elsewhere...

* The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the fading Washington Wizards and ended up winning 89-81.

* The ballin' Golden State Warriors took a trip up to Toronto to face Paulie's Raptors. I read that a fight broke out between two players in the 3rd Quarter, leading to ejections. Winning this war was Golden State, to the tune of a resounding 113-89 beating.

* Atlanta has now won three straight as they took down Orlando 95-88 in Atlanta.

* Omnis' Miami Heat didn't have such an easy time in The Big Easy at Smoothie King Center. A down-to-the-wire thriller was taken by Stavingo's New Orleans Hornets 104-102.

* In Chicago, it was 96-89 in favor of sumbrownkid's Chicago Bulls over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Maybe the news of Derrick Rose perhaps being back within 4-6 weeks has given some confidence in the Bulls' takedown of Minnesota. Or maybe it's just that Minnesota is simply sorry.

* The New York Knicks played at the Detroit Pistons, and 48 minutes wasn't enough to settle the score. So these two needed Overtime. In fact- TWO Overtimes. So after 58 minutes of play, the Knicks left Detroit with a 119-115 win over Detroit.

* The Los Angeles Clippers went to Memphis and disgraced the Grizzlies with a 97-79 rout.

I'd be remiss if I didn't menion the death of Earl Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd was the first Black player to play in the NBA. I think this is extremely surreal that we normally celebrate Black History in February, and the NBA made its own strides to celebrate Black History in the NBA, and then news of Earl Lloyd's passing happens. It's safe to say Earl Lloyd was quite a pioneer with MANY more Black players playing in the NBA years later. Earl Lloyd was 86 years old when he died on Thursday.

On a much lighter note, congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

No Irving and no Lebron meant Dellavedova was a starter. Ordinarily I'd say 14pts, 10reb and 5ast is an excellent effort for Dello, but on 5-18 FG? Hmm.....
Joe Ingles chipped in 7pts, 4reb and 5ast for the Jazz in a win, Dante Exum is still a noob.
I don't even want to talk about the Raptors game, though I will say I never much liked Hansbrough before he joined the Raptors and right now I'd rather see someone else in the rotation, Bebe perhaps.

Gotta give 'em some time, man. They just fired Vaughn on the 5th & Borrego took over 10 days ago.

If he's smart, he'll take what he learned under Popovich & try to have the team play Spurs basketball like Budenholzer does. He could succeed where Vaughn couldn't.

True. Did Borrego just step into the role, or is it a clean slate with Borrego selecting his staff? They're going to need at least 2 years.

Also, you'd be surprised at how little Magic news we actually get down here. It's like they don't even exist.

Of COURSE the Suns would follow their best game of the season with their worst game ever. Not only that, Brandon Knight might be out a long while with a hip injury.
Typical AZ sports luck.

Not sure. Borrego was bumped to head coach for the remainder of the season, so I imagine the Magic will see how he does & decide to shop for a new coach if he doesn't meet their goals.

RIP Anthony Mason. I can't believe he died of heart failure at 48. What is that! He was an elite athlete, for heaven's sake. What a tragedy.

On Instagram, one person called it the "James Duel." James Harden for the Houston Rockets going up against LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. We couldn't settle our differences in 48 minutes, so five more minutes were needed. Houston remained focused and won the game 105-103 in Overtime. Both James Harden and LeBron went north of 30 points. Cleveland just wouldn't go away. On that front, the Cavs have nothing to be ashamed of. Well... some would complain that LeBron could have connected his free throws. One dangerous Eastern Conference team defeated, and another one is coming to Houston on Tuesday- the Atlanta Hawks. It was a competitive game. If the NBA Finals was between Houston and Cleveland, this would be one intense series.

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday. And yes- I am deeply saddened over the loss of Anthony Mason, especially considering the real desperate state of his health. Anyone's death is bad enough. This one really hurts.

[UPDATE] 105-103, not 106-103. Changes made.

My Rockets are off tonight. Rather than make my own standings update, I got "lazy" and will just offer you this link so you can see how the standings are at this point. So here you go:

http://www.nba.com/standings/team_record_comparison/conferenceNew_Std_Div.html?ls=iref:nba:gnav

The two most competitive divisions are the Central in the Eastern Conference and the Southwest in the Western Conference. Of all the divisions, only the Southwest Conference has every team with winning records (New Orleans, at the bottom of the table, have a 32-27 record at present).

Keep the playoff push going if your team is still in it! Good luck to all of your teams moving forward.

Just when I thought the Suns couldn't play a worse game then in San Antonio, they manage to overcome that.
I'm sorry but that game was just sad. No excuse for the way the Morris twins have been acting lately. Without a veteran, this team is falling apart.

Was that a Playoff game between the Suns at the Heat? There were some pretty hard fouls from some of the highlights I saw (I saw bits and pieces of that game). I thought there was an MMA fight after seeing somebody get taken down MMA-style after a hard foul. Omnis' Miami Heat held serve at home against DCybertron's Phoenix Suns. What disappointed me about the Suns were all the threes they were jacking up but not hitting. That's what I would fear on a daily basis about my Rockets, but a lot of the threes Phoenix were shooting were bricks. The Suns probably would have taken down Miami if more of those threes connected.

As for my Rockets, the NBA suspended James Harden for one game for kicking LeBron James in the groin. YouTube comments on this mostly ranged from "this would have just been a good hard foul if this were the '80s" to hateful comments about LeBron. We're at the Atlanta Hawks, so with no James Harden and no Dwight Howard (Atlanta's own), don't be surprised if my report is sad or upset when we lose at Atlanta. Or be surprised if we somehow get lucky and win at Atlanta tomorrow night. I'll surely "Happy Dance" my butt off if we win even without James Harden or Dwight Howard.

Congratulations to Monday's other winners besides the Miami Heat.

[UPDATE] Misspelled "groin." Made the changes.

The suns played like thugs. No wonder goran wanted out. The only guy that impressed me was Bledsoe. Alex Len is a punk who got mad after being dunked on 6 times by Whiteside. Even Wade skyhooked him despite being a foot shorter. I'm glad Hassan stood up for himself after Len tried to throw him. If Len tried that on Udonis, his head would have gotten knocked into the bay.

Anyway, I'm really impressed with Michael Beasley. The time in China really helped him. He scored with ease but also played terrific defense. He's changing his nickname from buckets to Fonso. Apparently it means defense in mandarin lol.

Also kudos to Tyler Johnson who was the games top scorer. And he played the 4th on a sprained ankle. Incredible game for him.

Suns got sonned

"Playing like thugs" indicates that they were playing with toughness to begin with. That wasn't being tough. That's being a sore loser. They for sure didn't do that when Dragic was around.

I like that Alex Len is standing up for himself. That just isn't a situation to do that. You weren't even the one fouled.
Also, Whiteside tackling? C'mon man you're better than that. Same with Keef's flagrant on Dragic.

Another thing that pisses me off is Hornacek's rotations. You play Brandon Knight for 40 minutes on a bruised hip because other people are in foul trouble? Alex Len is ejected, so instead of putting in a backup C like Brandon Wright or Earl Barron you play...6'5 P.J Tucker? (He did hold it down pretty well though). Any shred of public credibility they have left is now gone in 2 swift games.

/end rant

The Heat-Suns game was pretty hilarious to watch though. Hassan Whiteside has been so great, such a good story.

[Aussie Update] WHOOOOOAAA! Bogut did some scoring! 16pts for the big man today to go with 8reb and 3blk. Some really nice dunks a part of it.[/Aussie Update]

Tonight's NBA Fan Night Game of the Week is...

...Houston Rockets at Atlanta Hawks!

NBA fans want to see what my Rockets will do without James Harden and without Atlanta's own Dwight Howard against one of the most ballin' teams right now in the NBA- the Atlanta Hawks. The ATL is about to be "Hotlanta" tonight with tonight's hot matchup. Can the Rockets take down the Hawks even without several key pieces? We'll find out tonight in Atlanta.

The Rockets could have won this f:censored:ing game, but we conceded late to the Hawks, losing 104-96. Mental lapses late led to our demise in Atlanta. Even with Josh Smith telling the crowd to hush, the Rockets just failed. I'm f:censored:ing upset, but also sad even though I thought the Rockets would lose this game anyways. Bull-f:censored:ing-s:censored:. Hope you enjoyed watching my boys fail on NBA TV.

Congrats to everyone else who won tonight.

I don't know why I enjoy John's rant so much. Maybe because I don't care for the Rockets, I really have no idea, but anyway, sorry.

Reading John's rants picks up my day. Don't ever change @JohnBM01.👍

I can't wait for tomorrow when the Raptors lose to Cleveland.

Houston heartbreak. 102-100 in favor of Memphis here in Houston as this back-to-back is back-to-back losses. Even James Harden's efforts weren't enough to help Red Nation go over the Grizzlies. Some bad calls resulted in the Rockets losing this one. So not a good back-to-back for us. Last night should have been a win (or at least, a closer game) considering us leading Atlanta by as many as 18. That's why I raged about the Rockets' loss last night. This one is just a late heartbreak.

Congratulations to all of Wednesday's winners. Or if your team(s) lost, feel free to prove that misery loves company.

That's not heartbreak. Memphis is the 2nd best team in the west with perhaps the best frontcourt in the game.

Hassan Whiteside got 25 rebounds on the Lakers. Damn. It's like everything I was saying in this thread came true. All they needed was a guy like Hassan, and they got him. Now even 10-day contract guys are ballin out with him on the floor.

Max contract, here you come.

Aww get over yourself. Even the shortest dude on our team had 18 boards tonight. :p

Well, I meant heartbreak in the sense of how the loss unfolded. It was a late tip-in by the Grizzlies with 0.03 seconds left in the game after the made basket. That's why I said heartbreak. This game otherwise could have gone into Overtime tied at 100 had it not been for that late bucket by Memphis.

Now if you want bigger heartbreak, and you're a Utah Jazz fan, Boston beat the Jazz 85-84 in Boston on a buzzer-beating tip-in. Yeah- buzzer beating wins hurt more than some late scores.

I thought I heard the Heat commentators say the other day they have Whiteside locked up for 4yrs or something on some bargain basement price? Though I'd highly doubt they'd sign him for 4yrs when they didn't know what they were getting at first.

No, he's here on a two-year minimum contract. Then he'll hit unrestricted free agency under the new CBA when the TV deal goes into effect. All he has to do is stay healthy and hope that LeBron doesn't come back to Miami, and he will be looking at a maximum contract by then. Someone will offer him a max contract, anyway. I would think he would stick with those who were loyal to him, though. Pat Riley is hard to turn down.
