It wasn't pretty, but we won 102-98 hosting the Brooklyn Nets here in Houston. When I first saw a score for this game, the Nets led 12-2. Uh-oh! I checked in later on the radio and learned we were down 86-80 just past midway in the 4th Quarter. All that has to be said is that we won the game. I think this is our 40th win of the season. Again- it wasn't a pretty win or a pretty game, but we'll take the win.
Elsewhere...
* The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the fading Washington Wizards and ended up winning 89-81.
* The ballin' Golden State Warriors took a trip up to Toronto to face Paulie's Raptors. I read that a fight broke out between two players in the 3rd Quarter, leading to ejections. Winning this war was Golden State, to the tune of a resounding 113-89 beating.
* Atlanta has now won three straight as they took down Orlando 95-88 in Atlanta.
* Omnis' Miami Heat didn't have such an easy time in The Big Easy at Smoothie King Center. A down-to-the-wire thriller was taken by Stavingo's New Orleans Hornets 104-102.
* In Chicago, it was 96-89 in favor of sumbrownkid's Chicago Bulls over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Maybe the news of Derrick Rose perhaps being back within 4-6 weeks has given some confidence in the Bulls' takedown of Minnesota. Or maybe it's just that Minnesota is simply sorry.
* The New York Knicks played at the Detroit Pistons, and 48 minutes wasn't enough to settle the score. So these two needed Overtime. In fact- TWO Overtimes. So after 58 minutes of play, the Knicks left Detroit with a 119-115 win over Detroit.
* The Los Angeles Clippers went to Memphis and disgraced the Grizzlies with a 97-79 rout.
I'd be remiss if I didn't menion the death of Earl Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd was the first Black player to play in the NBA. I think this is extremely surreal that we normally celebrate Black History in February, and the NBA made its own strides to celebrate Black History in the NBA, and then news of Earl Lloyd's passing happens. It's safe to say Earl Lloyd was quite a pioneer with MANY more Black players playing in the NBA years later. Earl Lloyd was 86 years old when he died on Thursday.
On a much lighter note, congratulations to all other winners from Friday.
