I hope who ever buys the Clippers takes the franchise to make them the new Seattle Supersonics. LA doesn't need two teams, the Clippers have jack all heritage to worry about, and a friend of mine thinks CP3 and Blake Griffin would almost be like a new age Payton/Kemp to kickstart the rebranded/revived franchise.

While Ballmer comes from the Seattle area (worked for Microsoft for 30+ years), he won't be moving the team to the Seattle area. He is a very smart businessman that knows all of the real money to be made is in the L.A. market. He would have to be insane to move the team out of L.A.

Just like Lebron was insane to leave a championship contender in Miami for his hometown? :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly: :sly:
Wishful thinking I guess.:indiff:

Check it out at 1:06(really graphic), if you haven't seen it. I'd be shocked if he ever reached the All-Star level again.

I have never felt so bad for player from a footage. Off the top of my head, this just may be the second worst I've felt about tragedy involving NBA player since Drazen Petrovic. I am so sorry, Paul. I don't even know what else to say.

I saw it on the sports news. At first I didn't know what happened. Then I saw it on YouTube. Now I can see what happened. Oh god....

Hope everything gets better for Paul.

I feel so bad for him, prayers out to him cause that was so gruesome.

The stand for the basketball hoop should be moved back way further then they are now.

Prayers indeed, I can't believe it, and to happen in an intra squad scrimmage is just, wow, I feel so bad for him.

Speechless after watching that video, just shocking. To echo everyone else, my thoughts go out to him.

Looks like his leg broke clean in half. Snapped like a twig. Yoww! My nuts tucked in watching that. He'd better hope it's a clean break and not a compound fracture. If it's clean, he'll probably be back next season no problem.

edit: Nope. Compound fracture of tibia and fibula. Stick a fork in him. :(

A player in the afl (Australian football) BROKE both his tibia and fibula and he didn't play at the professional level for 400 days, so maybe there is hope for him to be back for the 2015/16 season (hopefully for the pacers)

I think we all can agree- that was terrible to watch Paul George go down the way he did in last night's scrimmage game. This was a very unfortunate incident. Sports themselves are dangerous, and injuries can happen even when you least expect them or in times where you don't anticipate or speculate injury. I cringed easily seeing the injury. It doesn't matter whether or love or loathe Paul George, the Indiana Pacers, or anything of that nature- this is a young man with a lot of his life (and perhaps a lot of his career) to go. This is about the well-being of a star player and his long-term health. Anyone with even a small amount of heart should wish Paul George well in his recovery.

Some of the YouTube comments I've seen to this video have been in the realm of "great players want to play these games, but the risk of injury is why they avoid these events." This is in response to why certain players pulled out of events like the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup (which I made a thread about). I don't really like the mentality of "don't play sports because you might get injured." That's like saying people shouldn't be firefighters because they might get burned. Injuries are part of the game. You take the good with the bad and move forward.

Having said all of this... I wish Paul George very well in his recovery.

That's not really a fair comparison. One is a fun game, played for entertainment and lots of money. The other is a career where the goal is saving life and property in the face of real danger every single day, for a lot less money.

I've rooted for the Pacers forever, and many Blazer fans I know also do. It may have something to do with how our teams share certain qualities(smaller market, gets pushed around by powerhouse teams in the Playoffs, etc.).

Anyway, I just saw this pic from Vegas where it happened(oregonlive.com) & it reminded me of that.

I'm pulling little extra for the Pacers this year. I hope Hibbert get his head on straight.

I agree with @JohnBM01 in the sense that star players shouldn't be avoiding international competition because they "might" get injured. People still want to see the best players from every nation determine who has the best basketball countries. I know I do.

So today is the NBA rookie photo shoot. Do you see any of your team's rookies?

Also, this may be the last time we see Andrew Wiggins in a Cavs jersey.

Bairstow is busy off training for Australia, he's not in that rookie photo.
Good to hear George has had successful surgery.

I was going to make a joke about the first ever female NBA (assistant) coach, and how quickly it was going to be revealed that she was dating Tony Parker....... He's already "been there, done that." I'll never underestimate you on, or off the court, Tony.

Edit: Totally unrelated, but I'm not gonna lie: Scottie Pippen = My favorite Bull of all-time

 Short memory, that ad is pretty good.:sly:
Also, she's not the first female assistant coach.

In the NBA? I read a story which claimed that she was, but they could've been wrong, I wouldn't know!

P.S. The greats may have needed short memory, but MJ, he only had LONG momory. :mischievous: :D

In the NBA, she technically isn't as I believe the Cavs had one way back, but she's the first paid assistant coach.

So it's official, Love to Cavs is happening.

I personally think the Cavs will regret this down the line as they gave up too much. Their bench is a joke. No depth outside the starting 5.

They should have waited until Love became a free agent. Everyone knew he was going to leave Minny one way or another. Might as well waited because Minny would have lost all leverage in retaining his services.

Still the starting 5 will be a formidable bunch, but I have faith that Tom Thibodeau can figure them out.

I love this trade (which is not technically official yet, it's unofficially confirmed), Wiggins will get a chance to become a superstar alpha dog with the Wolves where he wouldn't have in Cleveland, and in the short term it makes the Cavs very exciting to watch for the fans. Also, Ricky Rubio distributing the ball and creating fast break with his steals all the while dishing to athletes like Lavine and Wiggins?

Edit: Though I agree Cavs could potentially regret this move down the track, no financial flexibility to build a deep championship team if what they have isn't enough.

Edit 2: Raptors 2nd round draft pick will replace James Ennis on the Perth Wildcats next season in Australia.:dopey:

If you can't beat them, trade for them.

"Indiana offered Roy Hibbert, Chris Copeland and some cash," Dragic told the reporter from Ekipa. "But according to my sources, the Suns rejected the offer."

--Ekipa

It's ironic that it was Dragic and the Suns who exposed the Pacers' and their #1 defense's inability to defend a slashing, floor-spacing game like the Suns ran. The Pacers were a league-best 33-7 before the Suns beat them twice in a week, and after that the Pacers just weren't the same team. The Suns forced Hibbert out of the paint by planting Channing Frye on the three-point line, which totally messed up the Pacers rotations and took Hibbert basically out of the game. In the end, the Pacers and Hibbert wilted badly in the playoffs.

So I thought Indy's first trade offer earlier this year of Hibbert and George Hill was hilarious. Hibbert and Copeland isn't better at all.

You would think that given their ages, David West would be the first to go before Hibbert.
