I've had Adele's album playing in my menus for ages now and while it fits the bill its driving me insane and i need to find another one to change it. I don't listen to much music like that tempo so I was hoping for some recommendations?

I need something with good melody but at a tempo that's relatively slow so it contrasts with my fast racing soundtrack and gives me a break if you know what i mean lol :)

Clapton unplugged.
I don't know if you will like it as much as me, but that is one of my favorite albums EVER. Just don't listen to teardrops in heaven. After I found out what it was about it makes me cry every time :(

As a side note I am 18 years old. I say that because the songs may be quite older than me, but I still love me some Eric Clapton. Always puts me in such a good, chill, mood.

Here are some ideas...

Phoenix - Alphabetical
Powderfinger - Vulture Street
The Decemberists - The King is Dead

Dave Matthews Band - Live At Red Rocks. I've got Disc 1 as my menu music, and Disc 2 mixed with a bunch of fast stuff for my racing music.

WINNER!!!! You can't go wrong with Mr. Matthews.

I will also mention Jack Johnson and The Beatles or maybe Duffy if you like her stuff. I cant think of any more right now. Il post up some more for you.

Well, music is a highly subjective issue and a huge mine to tap into but judging by your own previous choice, you might wish to try Duffy or Amy Winehouse.
Or something a bit (actually much) older like Dusty Springfield (her album 'Dusty in Memphis' for example).

I could suggest Portishead or some albums by Goldfrapp which could fit the bill you described, and any album by Richard Hawley always relaxes me or a relative obscure album by Serge Gainsbourg called 'Histoire de Melody Nelson' (and I could go on and on and...) but again, it's probably much more fun and rewarding to discover music yourself than asking for suggestions by random members with all sorts of tastes.

But if all you want is a good melody and a slowish tempo, why not go for some reggae? My tip, Lee 'Scratch' Perry. :)

Do You Feel Like We Do-Peter Frampton. It's 14 minutes long, so you won't get bored! It really is a fantastic song, though.

thanks for ideas guys ive gone for dusty springfield for the time being but i get bored and change usually. bookmarking this thread, thanks :)

John frusciante - Curtains, the will to death or Empyrean.

There has to be one person on this forum that can back me up?? Lol

Barcelonic,

Try to disable soundtrack for races, and up the volume as much as you can, considering your personal situation (parents, wife, kids). You'll have a much deeper racing experience. Specially if you have a good audio setup.

And if you are into something really smooth for menus, you can try Enya.

Peace

I was gonna recommend the Empyrean, but ended up going with Phoenix, Powderfinger and The Decemberists. But it's an amazing album, a bit too religious for my taste, but musically, it's perfect!

for my races i prefer to have high-tempo DnB and dubstep playing as it helps me at higher speeds somehow - i turn the SFX down a bit more than i probably should but it rocks listening to your music this way lol

You are right though i'd definitely perform better if i could hear every rev properly. Also i live alone and have surround sound setup so it makes the music rock :)

Thaks for more suggestions - My Favourite Game used to be my fave song years ago ill add that one for sure thanks :)

I would go with Deftones - White Pony album.

On the other hand, when I used to road racing and drag racing in real life, I listen Long Tall Sally by Little Richard just before going to race. Kinda put me in the mood

You may like some of Bon Jovi`s or Aerosmith`s ballads, such as I`ll Be There For You or Bed Of Roses from the former and Hole In My Soul or Fly Away From Here from the latter.
Sorry for the weird apostrophes, my keyboard has gone nuts...

Try John Mayer's live album from Los Angeles - "Where The Light Is". Good mix of slow and upbeat songs, all with a nice steady tempo to them.
