Am I allowed to talk about other racing games here? I'm kind of new to video games. I just wondered how many here have played Pro Street? It's a departure from the previous NFS games. All track oriented.
I know that NFS
S is more of a "game" than a driving simulator. But I got re-started in video games last fall when my son gave me his no longer used Wii ( he bought a PS3). NFS
S got me addicted for months. Then I got a PS3 for my birthday in Feburary, and got NFS
S for the PS3, and started online racing. And I was eagerly awaiting the improved graphics and more realistic driving physics of GT5, pre-ordered it, got it the day it was realeased. And haven't played NFS since.
It's more of a "game" than the realistic racing simulator that GT5
is. But it has some nice features that made it fun...like being able to "customize" your car by painting or re-painting, in colors chosen from a color and shade chart. Buy Custom speed parts, ad decals, logos. In the end, you ended up with a car that was your own personal car. Having designed and decorated the car made it much more personal, something to take pride in. You had to choose your car carefully since some cars were better than others for certain events and tracks. There wasn't a need to collect a great number of cars, just pick your favorites and put money into them to make them faster.
GT5 is a more, uh, mature game. With more emphasis on driving skills. And the PP rating system makes all the cars much more equal. And the online racing is much more equalized, more competitive. And the online servers are much more dependable. There were many days when online racing wasn't even available because the servers were down. And after a few months, the makers...EA games, just seemed to abandon the game, no more improvements or fixes for the many gliches and problems. It was as if they got your money, now you're on your own. I swore I would never buy another EA game.
I like the way GT5 has plans for future improvements. I appreciate the way the makers seem to really care about it's customers, and the quality of the game. I'm definitely getting in line for the full GT5.
All this is why my signature line says "graduate of Need For Speed
ro Street". GT5
is definitely a step up in gaming, in driving, in racing, in graphics, in competition.
