Well this will be my first purchase and have no clue what to expect as my set up is small.

Is this a good deal:

Logitech GT Force steering wheel at JBHIFI for $189, if brought together with GT% its $249. Should i bother or not

It all depends on how much you have to spend and your current needs. Im looking into the Driving Force GT as my first wheel as well. You can get them for about $100 US, not sure about the price you found it depends on your country and the retailer. The DFGT is a good value for the money though, based on reviews at least. Good luck!

the fanatec 911 carerra wheel is a great low-budget wheel. for $160 you get the wheel, pedals (with clutch), and 6 speed shifter.

I am ticked off I spent $460 on the G27 and then they decide to announce this new Thrustmaster :ouch: I hope it's not much better or just as good. Better still if they just made it so that the game fully supports the G27 would be good enough for me

Thanks fellas but my budget is at $189 as my Birthday is 12/12 the good lady wife has said that's the budget. Oh it does include pedals as well

There's word that it will be supported (source might be from Yamauchi's Twitters) so I wouldn't be worried. It's a popular choice. Does it not work at the mo? At all?

The good thing is the Logitech G25/27 have a great reputation and a history of quality and reliability. This new wheel may be great, but it has no history and nobody will know for a while how it will stack up to the G27 over extended daily use. At least we know the G27 is a great product from the second we purchase it.

I was thinking about the G27 myself, what is this about this new Thustmaster, other than it sounding like a terrible porno.

When does it come out (around?) and anyone know if it's a step up from the G27, or a cheaper alternative?

IMO

1-Fanatec any
2-G25, if you find it (this has the H gear box, G27 no)
3-G27
4-DFGT (best price/quality relation)

I guess the new Thrustmaster you can forget, 500$ + shifting extra should be above your budget.
I personally would also not recommend the G25/G27. They are both great wheels but they have their problems with GT5. Same is even more true for the Fanatec.
My personal advice would be the DFGT. It's 100% supported, it's a steal cause of it's price and a good piece of quality.
The one problem I see with the DFGT is the availability, at least here in Germany it's really hard to get cause its sold out. You have some shops with amazon.de but they overprice it very steep (30%+ more than normal retail price)
Just my 2 cents

I bought the DFGT, its well built and works very well with GT5. Plus it is available at a reasonable price.

If you have more cash available, then waiting for the new Thrustmaster would be a good idea.
