Need help with calibrating my wheel set!

I bought recently a Gamester LMP wheel set and now I'm trying to set it up with my old and trusty (dusty ) PSX
But for some reason I can't get steering to work properly no matter what.
Pedals work just fine though they're a bit awkward.

Steering wheel's movement shows correctly in the settings screen, but I can't set "Max" or "Margin" values to anything and "Center" value is adjustable only by one or two steps :(
That means when I'm actually trying to play the game, it only turns tires from far left to far right if I move the wheel even about half of an inch around the center. I can't even get the car to go straight!

So, does anyone still have the manual for the game and could help me to understand how the setup works? I've lost mine years ago :(

My copy is US region, version 1.0

I'm not expert but it sounds like your wheel might not be compatible with the PSX. I went looking for my user's manual just now (for GT2) and apparently it's lost. I think A.A.Z. might have his.

Looks like that really is the case.. I tried the wheel with my PS2 but it doesn't even recognize it if I don't hold the start button all the time.
My PSX itself seems faulty as well, the screen is all rainbow in NTSC mode though PAL works fine..

the left pic is ntsc and the right one is pal

Does anyone know if someone has made a list which wheel sets actually work with GT2?
I don't want to buy another noname model which won't work.. It's hard to find proper Logitech PS1 wheel controllers nowadays

No, unfortunately I know nothing about wheel & PSX compatibility :( Only about wheel & ePSXe.

That sounds fine too :)
Tell me everything you know about setting up a wheel with ePSXe, the more technical details the better.
I've tried it once but couldn't get it working properly, dead zone and sensitivity issues..

Hehe, yep :) It's got 50% dead zone in the wheel and about 70% in the pedals (these figures may vary). I've spent a lot trying to fix that problem, ending with attempts of correcting their wheel driver, but they didn't succeed mostly, so I gave up. :(

We need an emulator that supports "true" analog controllers like wheel controllers and NegCon pad, too bad ePSXe doesn't support controller plugins :(
