Need new car

I currently drift with a Mazada RX8 but when drifting with others, I fall behind really easily as this car is pretty slow. (300HP)

I notice so many people use cars 500+ HP. Any ideas on a new car I can use to drift that still has really good turning capabilities as an RX8 (Yes I tuned this thing perfectly :P) but is a bit faster? I prefer premium cars.

I guess that you are pretty new to drifting so I'd suggest a Nissan Silvia S13 to start with. You can find good settings for the car ( thanks to TwinTurboCH ) at the setup depot here on the drifting forum at the top of the list. You dont need an overpowered car to drift or to keep up with other people. If the others call them selfs ''drifters'', they will wait for you at the straight parts. Try some Japanese lobby's. I also suggest to tune your RX8 a bit more. Buy a medium range turbo and all the other performance parts.

Personally i think Chris Bangle has ruined modern car design. I know the dude doesn't work there anymore, but IMHO a lot of modern Beemers are pretty ugly.

Some new cars don't look nice ( not ugly ), I agree. But if you dont like any of the M series..... I just don't know. Got respect for his style but still....
 
If you're not keeping up in the straights, you need more power. If you're not keeping up in the corners, they're probably running softer tires?
 
They should wait on the straights. Unless you aren't that good and they want to distance themselves from you. I personally like the S15 once its Race Modded but that is spendy
 
It doesnt matter so much the horsepower but finding the right balance of grip and slip. I would suggest the Spirit R, I use comfort hards and it keeps up with other drifters just fine. I think the RX8 is just a naturally slippy and slow car.

Still miss it on a regular basis...


As for the actual topic of the thread.
I recommend the TVR Tamora. I tuned mine to 500bhp on comfort softs, and every other tuning part you can throw at it.
It's virtually impossible to spin the thing around. It just finds mad angle, grips and powers through in an armageddon of smoke.
If you end up buying one let me know, and I can post my setup as a reference.
 
If you can find one, and bear the fact that it's a standard, try a Tom's chaser, tuned I'm getting 666 bhp (oh dear!), and it sounds awesome, but what do you expect from a car that has the same engine as the Supra RZ, In a similar vein try a supra, or if like me you're a bit mental try drifting the chevrolet SST concept, damn near 900 bhp of rear drive loveliness. And if only their was an E39 M5, probably make for a better drifter than E60 as it has more torque

Indeed, if the room's limited to one set of tires, you can compare cars and speeds...

But, on the other hand, power means speed, simple as. If i see another person driving an S13, i smile... perfect target to chase closely in a tandem. If i see them in Corvettes, i just try to be as fast as possible to keep up drifting correct lines ^^
